I have been bitten by a toy poodle as a child, not very bad. I was 7 and the dog was a neighbours dog and I frequently visited them both and played there. One day I went over and the owner was not out but the dog was. I got bit on the finger, just welled a little blood and I was way more surprised than hurt.
I have been bitten, in the face, by an apbt, on someones command. She was such a sweet little thing and I knew her quite well, she was so submissive her owners thought telling Brandy "get 'em" was a funny joke. And it was the 100 times that nothing happened. I was bent down tying my shoes (face close to ground) at someone said "get 'er" which I completely ignored until she got me above the eye and across the nose and chin. She must not have meant it much because when I shouted in surprise she took off just as surprised as me and 2x as scared. Damage wasn't bad at all (again she can't have been very seriouse about the bite) as I needed no stitches and have no scars.
These two experiences taught me alot about dog biting and I will never forget those lessons.

I voted yes by my own dog, but wouldn't really call it a bite as such. Indy went through a mouthing stage - no agression what so ever he would just get too hyper and start to mouth.

Yes Zebra has bitten me a few times. But only realy hard once. That was when he had his puppy teeth and since they are so sharp it made a small puncture in my hand. Thank goodness he has thoes rounded canine adult teeth now.

Yes by someone elses dog :(
At our training club, she had come for socialisation.
She was a beautiful but horribly traumatised GSD :( who had only been rescued a week, she had been locked in a cage outside with no contact with other dogs and barely any human contact for 6 years,I was stood in front of her a few feet away and another dog came close she panicked and went for the other dog but got my leg instead I got some nice puncture wounds and a tetanus jab and a course of antibiotics

I never pressed charges of course

Sadly Marion the woman got all upset when her dog went for the others and said "I knew there was no point in doing this !!!"
She never came back :( even though we all reassured her that no-one was expecting miracles, and her dog would be welcome to come free of charge for socialisation so long as she was muzzled,I often wonder how she is getting on but I never had a contact number for her :-?

I actually didn't let on that the dog had bitten me,I had really thick jeans on and no-one else seemed to have noticed that she made contact with my leg she moved so fast !!

And this woman was already upset that her dog had been going for other dogs I thought if I told her she'd probably have dropped the lead there and then and ran !!!

As soon as she left I was like "F*** it that hurt !!" and all the other instructors were like "what ?????" I slid my hand down my jeans and realised I was bleeding so I had to go to casualty for a tetanus and antibiotics !!

It wasn't the dogs fault really though she was terrified :errrr:

What a shame, :( my sister's dog is dog aggressive and yet a softer dog I've yet to meet. It's so sad because I can't have her when they go away and I love her to bits. I'd love to know what happened to that dog though, I bet she gave it to a shelter. I went my doctor's surgery for my tetanus jab, one of them was on my stomach, it hurt like hell.

:o :o Mei Mei, how come you didn't know which dog bit you, :o :o or did you vote your dog by mistake.

Or is it that like me, the older I get the more the memory is receding.

I got bit as a kid. I was walking down the back alley at my grandmother's and saw a dog in a fenced in yard, and stuck my finger through the fence and he bit me

My daughter Patty got bit by my neighbor's dog when she was about 4 or 5. She loves animals and is so sweet, but she bent down to say hello to the (much older) dog and he bit her right in the face :o She was hospitalized because of it and still has the scar to prove it today :( Nasty old thing :x

I just can't even imagine one of my own biting me. I don't know what I'd do, but none of my gang has EVER snapped at me. My two Lhasas and my Schnauzer can be challenging at times, turning back to snarl or "have the last word," but I can still handle them any way I want, pick them up in mid tantrum and whatever and they've never tried to bite.

That said, my hand STILL has the mark and is still sore from where my Perry (Standard Poodle) bit the poo out of me a couple of weeks ago. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. I was playing with him with a squeaky toy and he gets so excited. I was more or less teasing him with it just over his nose and when he lunged to grab it, he got my hand instead. He didn't even realize that he had my hand and he was chomped down on it and shaking it at the same time. What a blissfully ignorant, happy dog he is. My hand STILL hurts and he STILL has no idea that he did it.

I have been bitten a few times by other folks' dogs, but only while grooming. I've never been bitten by a dog otherwise. The very few groom dogs that got me have all been small dogs and didn't barely get more than a nip. Only one has ever drawn any blood (nasty little spoiled Pekingese :x ) and even then I had to squeeze at it to see the blood. I've never had a serious bite.

I have not ever been bitten by a dog on purpose, but once when I was breaking up a dog fight my hand got in between the dogs and one of them got my finger. It wasn't a bad bite, but it did hurt a lot. :x

I don't know if this counts as biting, but sometimes I play with my puppy and he will bite my hands or even my ankle (real funny because he only goes for my right ankle so I kinda drag him around and limp about) . A couple of times he got me, but it was actually because he "threw" his teeth at me and broke the skin. When I was potty training him he always used to bite me before he had to go outside.

Actually Mei-Mei you did not vote incorrectly, unfortunately the poll will not allow multiple selections nor will it let you vote twice.
I checked bitten by my own dog but could also have checked bitten by others dogs.
I'd like to add I've been bitten by a monkey, a cat, a horse or two, a ferret and a guinea pig. Won't even go into the insect world!

It looks like a whole zoo has been munching on you.

I have been bitten by my cat - right in the meat of my hand - she latched on and once she knew she had me she just kept tightening - I was rinsing yuck of her paws - I still have the mark. I've also been bitten by a few pet rodents - mine and others.

I have never been bitten. I was always good about being very causious around dogs as a child.
But my son did get bit by a great dane mix on his face about a 1 1/2 ago.
He had 7 stitches on his lip and 4 under his chin.
He also got bit by my husbands, dads yellow lab. He got bit on his hand, and got 4 stitches when he was only about 1 and 1/2 years old.
After all the incounters with the dogs, he still is not scared of them and approches them.

My mother's poodle bit me in rear end when I was 9, but I probably deserved it... I've owned close to 50 dogs over the course of my life and have never been bitten, or even snarled at by any of them. My little 5 lb Pom Cricket goes with me when I feed the sled dogs, and can go up to any of them. she even helps my lead dog lick out her dish.

I've been extremely fortunate. I've been bringing home strays since before I was old enough to leave the yard (I have radar: what, a dog around the block? i must whistle for it!). As a teen I ran a pet sitting business, then worked in a pet shop, a dog grooming place, a veterinary hospital and a boarding kennel.
I've been working in animal rescue for quite a while now, mostly dealing with neglected and/or abused dogs.
Somehow I've managed to get bitten only once. When I was about 16 I found a very elderly, matted to the skin, mostly toothless, miniature poodle with pnemonia in the middle of a thunderstorm. It nipped me that night at home, but ya know, I never blamed it. :)
The only other instance that even comes close is when two of my girls got in a fight and I got in the middle (yeah, silly me, but I had no other options at the time and I was prepared for injury, lol). My lab/shep/husky grazed my leg (absolutely no injury), got this look on her face like "holy @$%^, I bit mom!" and backed off my dalmatian, then played the I'm-so-pathetically-sorry-you-can't-stay-mad game for a couple of days. What a nut:)

I've been bitten by my grandmas dog, (i live with her). Also been almost bitten by my neighbors Rottie. Luckily the owner was outside and saved me :D . The same dog had attacked our dogs also. Don't understand why my grandma never did anything to that mean ol' dog.
Then a year ago, that SAME dogs puppy fell out the window! My cousins and grandma were out there watching it - afraid to give the dog its puppy back. The owners werent home, and neither were their kids that lived next door. I actually put the puppy back in the window, with the mean doggies head poking out. I faced my fear and didn't get bit!!
