Warning to dogs: Do NOT try to kiss a porcupine!

Recommended Posts

I saw this on another site. Yikes!

Somewhere out there is a naked Porcupine.
Inca apparently did not know when to quit when she encountered the
porcupine on Victoria Day, May 23rd. These are the pictures the vet
sent before the long (and expensive) procedure to remove the quills.
She had thousands of quills, and her tongue was so covered, she could
not close her mouth. It was pretty scary at first. She is doing okay
now, but looks like a World War III survivor as they had to cut some out
in places, stitched between her toes, and many quills bled on removal.
There are still quills buried in her, but they should work
their way out over time (I pulled four more today). She is on
antibiotics and pain meds and thankfully is doing quite well. Maybe she
was showing off for her new boyfriend, Rocky, I don't know; but he only
got a few in him, which friends were able to remove. Ike, of course,
had better sense. I sure hope that the Queen of Quills has learned her
lesson.

:o :o oh my god, that poor dog.

I've seen pictures on another forum of a Mallie that messed with a porcupine - he had a quite a few quills in his muzzle. I was expecting the picture to be something like that. That poor Bull Terrier is a million times worse.

honestly? I'm thinking hoax...that dog, with all those quills in his head, would have been blinded..and WHO, in their right mind, would take a picture of that in a sit and THEN take the dog to a vet?...

I think we've been scammed...

I've seen a number of 'quillings' first hand (nothing anywhere near this bad though) and that looks pretty authentic to me. I would bet that that the clinic staff took those pics, there would have been some'standing around' during anestesia prep when photos could have been taken.

I had someone show me this picture earlier this week and although I don't remember the write up per se, I do remember that it was different than the one here. Something about the lighthearted commentary from the owner about a situation like this doesn't make me buy it.
