Guest Anonymous Posted June 17, 2003 Posted June 17, 2003 I would love to hear from everyone on what the best/favorite dog toys are on the market today. Also, what do you think should be out there on the market that is not? ARen't dog toys getting boring? Any suggestions? Quote
abker17 Posted June 17, 2003 Posted June 17, 2003 I think the kong, and buster cube are probably the best dog toys out there. Dog toys are seeming to get boring now a days though. :-? We just got Abby this cute toy ball, that when she chews on it, the air inside is forced out and it squeks(sp?) then when she lets go of the ball, it almost instantly inflates again! I t is very cool and Abby plays with it a lot more than any other toy. I'll have to post some pics of her prancing around with it in her mouth, it's so cute! :) Quote
xavierandrea Posted June 17, 2003 Posted June 17, 2003 I like the kong. My dogs can play forever. Also my dogs never get tired of the ropes and balls. Quote
Angelboddy Posted June 17, 2003 Posted June 17, 2003 My dog loves all kinds of stuffed animals. We normally just go to garage sales or second hand stores to get them. And she is very good about knowing which stuffed animals are hers and which are the kids. Shes my good baby-dog! Quote
mydogroxy Posted June 17, 2003 Posted June 17, 2003 roxy will play with just about anything, but she especially loves any kind of stuffed animal. right now her toy of the moment is the head of a puppet that looks like barbara bush. scary. Quote
behle Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003  Is Roxy a Democrat? Max's favorites are.......THE HIDEOUS SQUEAKY BALL & the YELLOW ORB OF HAPPINESS (ordinary tennis ball)! Ben prefers not to play with toys.. His occupation is practicing being a human! Quote
JackieMaya Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 Jackie's favorite toy is a hard rubber ball that lights up and makes sounds (like car alarm sounds) when it hits the ground. They can't chew through it. And she will throw it herself because she knows it makes noise when it hits the ground. Jackie and Maya like to play tug-of-war with their Kong ropes. I have one that's about 2-1/2 feet long, and they'll both end up grabbing on to the same end and play tug. Goofy girls! And of course, they love to chew on sticks and branches that fall off the tree. Here's a picture of them playing tug-of-war. Bronxie Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 Elle likes her tennis ball. She doesn't pay attention to her kong :x Quote
bk_blue Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003
Ben prefers not to play with toys.. His occupation is practicing being a human!
  I think BK has signed up for that course too. Unless the toy of choice is a fence post, my watch (which still has toothmarks in it from 7 years ago!), the garden hose, bits of charcoal from the fire, the axe, books, actually anything that he shouldn't be playing with. Quote
mydogroxy Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 haha, i'll have to buy her a bill clinton doll and test her loyalty to that party! Quote
Marble Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 i vote for the kong, and nylabones, although dresden was not interested in her kong when she was younger so i put it away for a while. i just now brought it back out again and now of course it's her favorite thing, it's the only toy she'll play with for more than thirty seconds...........she's crazy. like bk's blitz, she's usually not much for toys unless it's something forbidden. tonight she was in my room rooting around, so i checked to see what she had......she looked so innocent and there was nothing in her mouth, well i went out to the other room like two seconds later and she had this long piece of cardboard she was about to start working on.... which reminds me, milk jugs are something to try too, clean them out though with water and never leave your dog unsupervised though as they like to tear them into little pieces and could potentially eat them. dresden never ate any she just liked all the noise and being allowed to tear something up :) Quote
StarFox Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 Zebra dosn't like many toys even though he has about a million of them. But he is partial to the Kong. He LOVES stuffed animals but isn't allowed to have them because he just tares them up and eats the stuffing! :o Oh and the last thing that he REALY loves is boxes! any kind...we leave them on the floor and tell him "thoes are my boxes, they better be here when I get back" and when we walk away he steals them...of course we don't mind because they are just boxes!
Water bottles work great too, because when the dog tries to pick it up, it slides across the floor. Abby has lots of fun with old water bottles, just sliding them around. :D U do have to supervise the dog though, the water bottle can easily be chewed into small peices. Quote
pei obssessed Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 Hippo doesn't like the kong at all :o And if you put anything inside the kong, she starts pushing it with her nose, and then scartches at the carpet and tears at it, because she's convinced the food is somewhere under the carpet  But she likes stuffed squeaky toys, nylabones (I have to make sure I only get the extratuff ones, as she once destroyed a nylabone for teeth cleaning within 5 minutes!!!), and her orange ball. And, of course, the toys of the other dogs in the park that she steals and runs in circles with  Quote
Kaleb124 Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 Kaleb likes his stuffed animals. Yard sales are a great place to find cheap dog toys. Kaleb will go get one and prepare to "seek and destroy". When he has effectively killed it, I through it away. And he is always supervised when playing with stuffed toys. He also likes his Kong and Tug Rope. Quote
Pumpkin the musher Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 I sometimes have a hard time finding toys small enough for Cricket (4.5 lbs ) She loves the tiny tennis balls, about the size of golf balls, and has a small fleece teddy bear that is just about shredded completely . The big dogs have a couple of "jolly balls" I think they were originally made for horses, it's a ball with a rubber handle molded into it. It seems fairly tough,too- all 10 can chase each other around and tug on it and it has shown very little wear. Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 Drey loves the gallileo (SP?) bone. it looks really weird but was highly recommended to me for an aggressive chewer. The only bad thig about it is its pretty big and Drey likes to "throw" it, you know hold it and then toss his head and chuck it across the room so he can run and get it... and then do it again. its pretty big and very loud. we try to keep it outside but you can guess how that goes. Quote
Sparks mom Posted June 18, 2003 Posted June 18, 2003 I would have to go with the Kong, then the old relayable rope, then the buster cube.... Spark loves his tennis balls too...he can get 2 in at one time..one on top of the other..I have been trying to get a picture of it Quote
