1. Good for you!!! I don't think I'm a maniac yet. :lookaround:
2.

You guys can pee in the bushes together. icon_lol.gif Can't wait to see pics!!!!
:o
LOL  I can't wait to see pictures of your trip, not of you and your dogs peeing in the bushes. :P
3. Petsmart and Petco give vaccines? I don't think I would go there for my dog's vaccines. That would be assembly line vaccines I prefer my regular vet that would spend the time with us plus I have to get her physical and stool sample etc anyway at the same time so it seems worth while. Who cares about the extra bucks (and believe me I am cheap I work with dogs and don't make a lot of money so I am cheap). I don't think it would really be worth it anyway. DivineOblivion19 do you know if there are cheap vaccines (crappy quality) and more expensive vaccines that are a better quality? I've heard that the spay/neuter clinics that do cheap spay + neuter use cheap anesthetic, yikes, I rather pay more.
4. OH COOOOOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Magic would die! Oh, she would l-o-v-e to go camping, she loves the outdoors and the lake. You guys can pee in the bushes together. Can't wait to see pics!!!!
5. Ahhh HF I am so sorry. Rest in peace Rocco.
6.
It's like someone being mean to your kids, the lioness just comes out in ya......sorry.
I know all about it. People say the meanest things about my GSD like "get that thing away from me I don't trust the bastards." It really hurts like someone calling your kid ugly.
7. Yikes Debbie you took that the wrong way. I am sorry if I upsetted you about your breed. I didn't mean to make anyone feel offended. I love JRTs, I work with animals I love all dog breeds. To me the JRT is a little wild and crazy - that's a characteristic I see in the breed. My dog is wild and crazy there is nothing wrong with that, that's just her that's why I love her.
8. sorry I added "the only way" part because when I asked all she said was diet change. She has seen dogs with horrible tear staining go to no staining at all this way. I'm sure it works some times. I mentioned about the vasoline because we get Westies at work that get that done twice/day but she thought it wasn't a great way because the tears just run off the vasoline and stain around it. You could always shave off the stained parts like I did to the toy in the pic above, the staining was pretty much gone after. It seems to me that the only thing that would actually could get rid of it (not mask it) is diet (for some dogs) unless it is a blocked tear duct, then what do they do, is it fixable? I should know about this if I'm going to be a groomer and owners ask me about the staining. Ahh so much to learn. :)
9. I think you shouldn't worry she's perfect, keep her thin it's healthy. Are her teeth really bad? I though it was not good to put older dogs under anesthetic?
10. I can't wait to see pics of your little man. pwrpufgirlz feel free to post pics too!!! I would love to see them! Your signature picture makes my heart melt it's so cute! I have a picture of a Toy Poodle, I groomed him yestuerday (this is my second week at Grooming School). I talked to my grooming instructor today about tear stains, she said the only way to fix it is diet change i.e. a raw food diet and she said that the products on the market for tear stains only mask the problem, they don't fix it. :)
11.

That sucks. You shouldn't leave your pet(s) outside unsupervised, yes there are reasons for this idiots!
I'm not sure I understand the full meaning of this statement and I certainly do not agree.
I mean that: I believe it is irresponsible to leave your dog outside unsupervised. I think that there are a few people that can safely keep their dog(s) outside alone but in almost all cases dogs should not be left outdoors unsupervised. But to each their own. I just have this idea that leaving your dog outside unsupervised can result in hundreds of problems just waiting to happen that are only reinforced day-after-day by events like this. The dog would not have gotten out to get killed if someone was there watching him, I know sometimes life calls and it is not possible but at least make it safe.
12.
I know prong collars are supposed to work real well, but Ive heard a few times that they probably shouldnt be used on this size dog with super short hair....... thats why I was unsure about them.....
Why would that matter? A dog is a dog is a dog.
13. He is handsome. I see what you're talking about! He looks like a very lovely dog! I have only one dog so I can't give you much advice about multipule dogs other than that when you add a third dog it is a whole new ball game and you have a pack, issues might arise depending on the dogs. You know what they say about rescue dogs, "There is always room for one more." If it were me and the dogs got along no prob and the dog was just perfect I would take him even if I needed another dog like I needed a hole in the head. JMO :)
14. Roasted bones are a big no-no. The only bones should be raw. Personally I wouldn't give anything that I wouldn't want to hit over my knee because it will break teeth. 3ofakind - My friends Jack destroys black kongs - the toughest ones. LOL I give Magic big fat carrots to chew, she chews rope toys too, well chews and shreds them.
15. I thought I already replied to this post. I'm confused. :eek3: Bailey should go to OB classes. As for Halti vs Prong collar - that depends on your dog. My dog can get out of the Halti in less than 30 seconds. She has a Gentle leader that she can't get out of so easy but she hate's it with a passion!! I've never met a dog that likes their Halti or Gentle Leader, they must exsit tho because the darn things are so popular. If you know what your doing (i.e. OB Classes) with the use of a Prong Collar you can have Bailey heeling beside you and not pulling in a few tries. The key is using your tool properly. You should only need the Prong Collar a few times to teach him how to heel/not pull. One good correction with the training collar is much better than a thousand nagging ones. It's much more safe and effective for the dog.
16. Great pictures guys! Courtnek all your pictures look like this, even your siggy: (I think with Care2 you can see the picture but we see this message instead of the picture because Care2 doesn't allow cross postings.) 17. I have a GSD and even on the better quality kibble (she eats Innova now and was on Wellness and Canidae) she has gas once and a while. (She never had gas on Nutro Natural Choice - Large Breed but I would never feed that to her again, I don't like the ingredients, it's no good.) When I give her digestive enyzmes (Prozyme) it gets rid of the gas. I would switch your pupper to an adult food. You could feed Canidae if it makes you feel better, it's designed for all life stages because "in the wild they don't have puppy food, adult food and senior food, they all eat the same thing." so the food is designed for all life stages, only the amount of kibble fed depends on the age of the dog. Good luck with your gas LOL
18. WOW I would be a basket case if I lost Magic. I hope you find her soon. I'll keep checking this thread to see if there is any news. ((((Positive vibes))) Tab find your way home safe hun.
19. That sucks. You shouldn't leave your pet(s) outside unsupervised, yes there are reasons for this idiots! That's weird the Pit Bulls owner had them PTS actually no it's not weird, irresponsible dog owners seem to be the norm these days. Pisses me off!
I think most Jack Russell owners see their dogs as cute, hyper little bundles of joy (which they are for the most part), but sometimes some of these folks forget just how tough these little dogs think they are.
I don't agree with that but I do think a lot of people get JRTs thinking they'll be like Eddie on Fraser. Its like the misconception of Collies being like Lassie, the pretrained super intelligent breed, wouldn't that be nice. The JRT owners I know admit that the Jack Russell Terror is very deceiving, small and cute but like a...um...um…. they’re out of this world, they’re wild and crazy. What’s cute is the JRTs wearing prong collars, I never see dogs under 85lbs wearing a prong collar but the JRTs do! LOL
20. I wouldn't use any of those products. Magic broke 2 teeth chewing a Nyabone that she broke in half, a thousand dollars later in doggie dentist bills.........live and learn. :(
21. I am so excited for you! Wooooohoooooooo! You have a doggie!!! I can't wait to see pictures I hope you post them soon! :D
22. That’s just like Magic, she wouldn’t protect me if my life depended on it. Most dogs would pee their pants in the face of danger. In general it is very naive to assume your dog will protect you unless they are specifically trained to. Don’t get me wrong some will and it’s genetics but my Shepherd and your Shepherd don’t sound like they have it. LOL I find that Magic’s look and bark alone are enough to deter most if not all situations that might benefit from her protection. She has a very ferocious bark that scares a lot of people. I just see it this way, why would you want your dog to protect you, they see you as a leader and their protector so you have to protect them.
23. I don't have a Toy Poddle but I love them! They say a natural raw diet will get ride of tear staining, you could also wash under the eye with a damp cloth many times each day. They have tear stain products like Diamond Eye but I don't think they really work. Can you post pics of your Toy Poodle! Please! :)
24. OMG OMG OMG!!!!! How exciting!!! I hope it works out perfect! :D
