1. Here's a little info on it http://www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/bulletins_read/11934.html I've seen a website that has pictures of cow hocked dogs but I can't find any now. Here's a webpage that shows a cow hocked horse tho http://www.gaitedhorses.net/ConformationLesson/RearEnds/RearEndConformation.html
2. Rottweiler X Lab is my guess. He's a very good looking dog though!
3. Just out of curiosity has she been checked for kennel cough!? That's what it sounds like. It could be a collapsed trachea or other problems but have your vet diagnose it.
4. Sorry if this is off topic but HF just wondering because I am learning to become a groomer...why do you almost never clip a dog before the bath? The only time I don't clip a dog before a bath is if they come in very regularly and a preclip doesn't make any sense as not much comes off so doesn't make a difference in drying time. Double coated dogs we cage dry and clip dogs we dry with velocity dryers.
5. I was taught (and just know from work) that you pet the dog all over at the door while the owner is there discussing the clip so you can feel for matts and let the owner know right away whether or not what they want done can be done. If when you get working on the dog and discover you can't do what you had agreed on with the owner you get on the phone with them before you do any differently- but usually you can tell from the beginning. Some dogs I brush out matts before the bath. Sometimes it just creates more work for the groomer to brushout the dog before the bath when you have to do it after anyway. I wouldn’t go to a groomer that makes decisions like shaving down my dog without discussing it with me first.
6. I just wanted to add this website with GSD coats and colours. Check out the black sable dog, that's what I think he is. GSD puppies change colours as they grow (get lighter). You might want to find pictures of dark/black sable GSD puppies to compare. http://www.4gsd.net/colours.html
7. aww that is heartbreaking. RIP little Angel. :lilangel:
8. TDG it's okay to fast a puppy for 24hrs? People say you shouldn't fast a puppy.
9. I totally believe it now. That is so fascinating.
10.
I don't remember the exact reason why, but Haltis are a bad idea for Dobes. Sizzle! Where are you? And oh yeah is Peaches "disabled"
I remember reading something about that. It was an article from a Dobie rescue group and I think it's because they have bad backs or something but the article was recommending shock collars. :o I'll see if I can dig up that info not that it is very useful.
11. My Sheltie was unbelievably obedient but no where near as smart as Magic my German Shepherd. Magic is super intelligent yet super stubborn. I found her difficult to train I think mostly because I am such a softie and she would walk all over me, testing me and testing me and testing me! She is a dominant bitch. It took me a year to teach her to heel perfectly and I can’t think of any other way than by using a prong collar because I tried almost everything an it was the only thing that worked. Peaches sounds like she needs a firm but not harsh and fair handler. I think you are the perfect person for her, she just needs time and someone with a lot patience to handle her. If she is intelligent and food is her motivator you have a good foundation to work with. BTW intelligent and stubborn dogs are by far the best! Also beware of Halti's I had one that Magic alligator death rolled in the air out of 3 times in the first week she had it before I flung the damn thing in the garbage. GLs they can't get out of easy.
12. Thanks gooey for the information. That's helpful! :)
13.
I am just curious, if the dog is lacking a B vitamin such as biotin, how can that be a healthy dog? :confused1: The dog has to be missing some thing in its diet. :niewiem:
Maybe healthy dogs lack biotin. Maybe lacking biotin defines a healthy dog. LMAO ah who knows. :-?
14.

I was originally shocked to find out that they are the #1 most intelligent breed, followed by #2 BCs and #3 GSDs.
whoaaaaaaaaaa there!! Sorry, but Border Collies have and always will be the smartest breed. They mention that on almost all dog shows when the border is up. Its on many web sites. I know from experience, afterall i own 3 of them. I also own a poodle. The poodle is rated number 2. I can say one thing, its a LONG AZZ way from number one to number two!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
LMAO you guys are funny, you and Kat. Ok BCs are the smartest. The particular list I read had Standard Poodles as #1 Most Intelligent Breed. My list would have GSDs #1 For everything!
15. Now I don't know what I'm talking about..but Calafornia Natural is basically three ingredients, maybe he is missing something in his diet?
16. Awww that is so heartbreaking. Hoping the best for all the other babies. ((Hugs)) Baileysmom
17.
I consider the APBT and Am Staff to be the same breed..but anywayz.
How come? I'm still tring to figure out the difference especially since they are considering banning Pit Bulls in all of Ontario but I think it excludes American Staffordsire Bull Terriers. I think I read something about how it is okay to reg an Am Staff as a Pit Bull but not vice versa. Please explain this stuff.
18. Maybe it’s like this: Ice cream sales go up when the temp hits over 25 degrees Celsius. That doesn’t mean that the heat causes ice cream sales to go up. The heat causes people to get hot and feel like having a cold treat and then they buy ice cream. The temp is an indirect cause. Maybe being healthy is an indirect cause in this case. ???
19. What? A dog can be too healthy? That sounds wacked!!! :drinking:
20. He's cute! I'd take him in a second! Fingers and paws crossed for you! :)
21. What's this about gluing cuts??? Never heard of it, you can do that and it's safe and stuff?
22. Magic is a rescue. Why/how you picked the dog you got. How important was pedigree? Bloodline? Breeding? How did you finally choose the breeder? rescue? Shelter? What drew you to the dog? Include any story/info about the dog you'd like. Pedigree, bloodline and breeding didn't matter. I went to the pound just looking for a dog that "fit." Had to be smart, fun and friendly. The only thing I would change about Magic is she is dog aggressive and at the time I adopted her I thought I could teach/train it out of her.
23. Yikes! I'd tell her straight up her dog is grossly over weight and under exercised. I would hated to be her dog with all those health risks. Sheesh it doesn’t sound like she’s going to live very long and she’s going to suffer the whole time, poor baby.
