1. I think you should choose a command like
2. Personally I do not agree with people who think dogs are disposable. There are many otherwise good people who give up their dogs for whatever reason but they should not own dogs.

Diving?

Is that the sport where they measure the diving distance, like long jump? My coworkers Pit Bull is exceptional at this. They said they should enter her in those competitions because her distance is a lot farther than the ones you see competing on TV (and it would be neat becuase you never see a Pitty in that stuff - mostly Retrievers).
5. My favorite game (indoor game) with Magic is I have her sit and stay in a room and in another room I hide one of her toys. I call her to come and "find it." She has an amazing nose so it is a really fun game for us and we can do it for hours LOL. Other fun stuff for us is learning new tricks and doing obedience. I love trying to teach her things like turn on/off the lights and go to the fridge and get me a can of pop. So far she can open the fridge but hasen't quite grasped the get me the pop part. Outdoor fun besides, fetch, tug-o-war etc - set up your own agility course.
6. Here's a picture of my rescue GSD - bloodlines, unknown. You may want to consider a rescue too. The main benefit is: WYSIWYG, what you see is what you get.
7. Good girl Hippo!!!! :) Magic is good a the vet, she doesn't even notice the shots and is perfect for the doctor. I said good right? Well that is after I make special arrangments for her to be the last appointment of the day when there are no other dogs there. She has issues (dog aggressive) and goes pyscho at the sight or sound of another dog.
8. This is all just my personal opinion... For a family pet you probably want to go for American Showlines or a mix of American and German Showlines. I'd pick the latter for looks because they don't tend to have (the crippled Am lines look - over-exaggerated slopping back) or (the "banana" back of the German showline dogs) the mix seems to cross eachother out - back wise. They both have a totally different look, and that is just the showline GSDs. Now, the showline GSDs are totally different in temperment(actually everything) than the working dogs. The working dogs have all the brains and physical ability. The German workline line GSDs can be hardcore, and being working dogs, need a job. If you have a job for your dog, get a workling line GSD. I love the look of the working line GSDs best but looks aren't everything, you want a dog you can live with. If you are interested in schutzhund go with a DDR GSD or want a police dog go for a Czech GSD. Just to get an idea of where each type is at. Research what you want, there is a huge differnce between an Am Showline GSD and German Working line GSDs to the point that I think they should be considered seperate breeds. The different types of the breed gets difficult, my best advice is go to a lot of different breeders, find out all about the different types and meet the dogs.
9. Magic is an obsessive-compulsive licker. I don
10. The blame is on the grandmother, plain and simple. You have an 11 year old or even a 60 year old staying at your house you make sure they are aware of what is, and what is not acceptable behavior around dogs. I bet these dogs were wonderful dogs and very friendly but when these dogs are together, pack mentality comes into play. Dogs are, and will always be animals. NO child should EVER be left alone with a dog, no matter if they are 5lbs or 150lbs and your children or grandchildren should be very clear of this! Poor little girl, it
11. Oh my goodness this is a long thread. I love German Shepherds (German Workling lines to get technical, I don't like the backs of American or german showlines) SHELTIES!!!! (While I love many different breeds, Shelties are the true one for me) and Labs! The stocky type labs - I can't remember which type that is English or American??? My first very own dog was a Sheltie that I got when I was 11yrs old. He was a perfect dog! My GSD looks funny in coats and bows in her hair and is too heavy to sit in my lap although she does, so I think I could use a small, glam type dog like a 4# Yorkie or something. Whatever breed or mix I own in my lifetime will always come from rescue! Fun topic :D
12. I voted for Yukhan and Kai. I am so sorry you lost Yukhan. Rest in peace sweet pup.
