Horsefeathers!
I know I should probably post this on the health board, but this board gets more traffic and I really would like an answer as soon as possible. Pauly is sick tonight. He had some loose stool earlier, but he is vomiting and very, very, very *choke* gassy. Holy balls, does he stink!! He did eat tonight, but threw it up about an hour later. I know what to do for diarrhea, but am not sure whan I can give him to settle his tummy. Anything I can give him that might be in my medicine cabinet? drjeffrock
Hey hf. Not quite sure what to recommend. Every once in a while Kira will get an upset tummy and throw up a few times. I kind of just like to let her be and not give her anything, aside from some water. Hoping Pauly feels better.
Horsefeathers!
I guess I'll just leave him be for now then. I just hate to see him looking so down; I want to "fix" it, I reckon. Thanks, Jeff.
MajiesMom
We get a Westie at our kennel that always up chucks that has a sensitive tummy. She gets, at least I'm sure, a Pepto tablet (it's pink if that helps)1/2 tab twice a day.
Cairn6
Toto has a sensitive stomach and the doctor has us give him Pepcid. It happens every now and then he'll just have a bad tummy day and when we give that to him he seems to feel better.
Lokipups
Maalox and Pepcid AC are both safe to use, but Jeff might be on the right track, if Pauly picked up a bug or ate something disagreeable, sometimes it's better to let them get it out of their system and yak it out. I hope he feels better soon  .
JackieMaya
I use Pepto when they have upset tummies. Good luck! And also a bland diet, like boiled hamburger and rice.
StarFox
I give 1 or 2 CC's of liquid pepto when Zebra is sick. Then he goes on a diet of baby food and white rice. It worked very well when zebra had very bloody stool and was throwing up.
DogPaddle
I give Pepto if the vomitting continues for a while, I also give no food until the Pepto works and then the next day, of course boiled chicken, rice and a tablespoon or two of canned pumpkin for good measure. Horsefeathers!
Well, he's certainly acting like he feels better today. He's up and running and being as silly as usual where last night he was very restless and he just acted like he didn't feel good. Of course, he hasn't eaten yet, so I guess we'll see. I'm only going to give him a very small handful of food just to see how it sits on his stomach. If it weren't for the fact that he bile pukes on an empty stomach, I'd just skip his morning feeding. I hope it was just maybe some little bug. Thanks, everyone. If it continues, I'll give him a little Pepto. I knew about pumpkin for diarrhea, but didn't know if it had any effect on vomiting. imported_Kat
Kaolin and morphine mixture is great to settle tummies. I think thats along the same lines as pepto bismol that you get in America.
DogPaddle
So . . . uh . . . you can get morphine over there counter there can you?
imported_Kat
DP its in a mixture but not actual diamorphine. Its given to children usually when they have jippy tummies and is a standard product that every Mum has in her medicine cabinet.
Guest Mutts4Me
Yeah... This happened another time someone had a similar problem... someone from the UK suggested morphine, and all the US people were :o confused, but I don't think we ever got a good answer. So I'm confused again ;) Morphine is a controlled substance over here.
DogPaddle
Good, good. I was like this - :o when I saw morphine but assumed there must be some explanation.
Guest Mutts4Me
Thanks, Kat. I'm somewhat less confused... I think :)
Horsefeathers!
Morphine... if I had kids, that's what *I'd* want in their medicine! :P Pauly seems to be much better today. He kept his little bit of food down and he's bouncing around, goofy as ever. That eye watering gas seems to be diminished, too. Thank doG. :o
Marble
Isn't it awesome to see them happy and feeling better ? :)
DogPaddle
Mmmmm . . . morphine . . . :tard:
courtnek
Kat, is it the same morphine they use here to kill pain? or something different?
imported_Kat
yeah its still morphine but in a very low cocentration and it helps to relax the irritated stomach muscles. You can't get proper morphine that would send you to lala land over the counter though
