  1. the police had a great laugh at the poo bag  Mouse, I'm still going through the case for compensation through my solicitor. Its so slow and its a catch 22 situation, between two compensation people. The N.Ireland compensation act covers for criminal injuries which my solicitor wants it to go through but they say it wasn't a deliberate attempt to injure whereas the police say that it was. The Motors insurers bureau pay out for people who were involved in Road traffic accidents with unidentified drivers, but as it took place in a park they say that its difficult to know if they can pay. It really is catch 22 and I see my solicitor about every 2 months but not much seems to have happened between last year and now
  2. What if you do rescue/showing without breeding? Might be an idea to put an option for that up there
  3. Oh my DOGNESS!!!! :eek2: That poor pupper! That porcupine must have shot out every quill it had! :o
  4. Kes and I were training down at the playing fields tonight minding our own business when this asswipe on a moped came into the park and started showing off. Then he drove straight at us for no reason at all! :o Needless to say memories of last years accident when I was hit by the motorbike flashed back and I dodged out of the way with Kes, who was thankfully on her lead. He was just playing silly buggers and so I got the registration number. I had no pen and paper with me so I had to etch the number with a dog comb onto a poo bag so I would remember it. Went home then and called the police and reported him. 2 police officers came out to the house and took a statement and it appears there have been loads of complaints of this bucko riding dangerously, but when they have chased him , he has evaded them because there are a lot of alley ways near the park. The police were really delighted that I managed to get the exact registration number and they are going to run a check and prosecute him for endangering lives. They praised me for doing such a good job and Kes too!:D
  5. Thank you so much everyone from the bottom of my heart. It is difficult not to have Zoe here. I go out to the utility room and see her empty bed and expect to see her in it. Kes climbed into her old bed earlier and lay down in it with her head down. Considering Kes never sits still, it was very strange so I think Kes is missing Zoe too. Zoe as you know went last week to the vets for 2 nights on a drip. I spoke to the vet yesterday as I had taken Kes up about clicking in her hips. One of the vets who I like a lot but didnt treat Zoe told me that Zoe was perky enough when she was in. Dad told me when he picked her up she was so much worse and again said about euthanasia which this particular vet dismissed. When she went home, she went downhill rapidly. She stopped eating, she lost weight and had no energy at all. I was shocked to see her last night when i came home, and perturbed that the vet sent her home in such a state. She couldnt even hold her head up and her eyes were closed. She was cold and her heart rate was weak. She was dying yesterday... I've worked in a vets long enough to know the signs, so no regrets at all. Zoe was an amazing family pet who gave us 14 years of happiness and who received 14 years of a very good life. She won't be forgotten.
  6. Wow I just love the graphics that you did on Kes' banner and the colours kick butt! My favourite two colours are bright pink and green or bright purple and green and its amazing you did those colours. I actually just recently got a tug made for Kes in pink and green :D After a hard night its made me really smile and is a nice thing to see before I go to bed, thank you. You are really talented
  7. I came back today from the Netherlands and poor Zoe was 10 times worse. I don't know what possessed that vet to send such an ill dog home but she couldn't hold her head up or even get the energy to wag her tail. :( It really was heart wrenching to see the deterioration. Dad took her tonight and shes crossed the bridge. Thank you Zoe for being such a wonderful family pet. You will always be in our memories and now you can run free with Abby...forever our Golden girl. 8. Feel free to use any of Kes' pics
  9. izzy, I'm sorry the puppies didnt make it but perhaps this is better for Tina the way it worked out. It sounds like she wouldn't have been able to have these pups naturally and that may have endangered her life as well. *hugs*
  10. wow those look super! I'll definitely invest in some for Kes when I hit the states
  11. Hmmm just personal experience, but my boss always taught me that its better to drain an abscess then treat with antibiotics. He always said that if the pus is left in there then theres always opportunity for the infection to spread and cause a risk of septicaemia, which does indeed make sense. Just keep a good eye on the lump but I wouldn't even go a week if Zeb has already had it for nearly a week, and if it doesn't go down, I would personally take him in to have it lanced and drained.
  12. Frontline all the way!
  13. Grendel is lovely! Good luck and good for you for helping him
  14. Dal , Cody is a lethal white and as you have experienced these guys have serious health implications. Deterioration of eye sight is also unfortunately a problem and you really would be better to get him checked out. It sounds to me as if Cody is snapping out of surprise at seeing a sudden object and this is his defence mechanism to snap.
  15. Izzy good for you for taking in Tina! You and your wife have such huge hearts. It is likely that Tina will look after her babies and feed and care for them if they are all a decent size. If they are on the big size you can supplement their feeding with some whelping milk to help Tina, in case she isn't producing enough milk. Its all quiet for the first few weeks but once those little weiner puppies start to open their eyes and explore then the fun begins  You will cope just fine, I know you will and we are all here to support you if you need anything at all
  16. :D Zoe has been given a reprieve and the vet is treating her for a high white blood cell count of 98 and her red blood cells are too thick it seems. Shes on a drip last night and tonight and its frustrating not being able to get all the details from the vet as im in holland, but im asking dad to update me daily and i will do the same to you folks. I'm really quite pleasantly surprised. I had prepared myself to say goodbye but I'm delighted that there is hope for a wee bit more time. I know shes old, but I am very much in favour of trying any treatment available to help her have more time with us all. thanks to everyone here for the support. This may only be a short term measure but lets just see what way the future fans out
  17. Zoe is 14 years old past in June of this year and shes finding walks harder and her general quality of life is deteriorating we feel. Today will be Zoe's last day with us and tomorrow we will let her go. Its been one year today that I lost my precious Abby, my little scottish wild cat and I can only take consolation in that Abby and Zoe will be reunited again to snuggle and play. 18. is it soft and squidgy? If so it sounds like an insect bite or an abscess especially if it grew that fast. Good luck and keep us posted
  19. *hugs to Riley and your family* keep us posted but I am sure he will be fine
  20. Shes definitely 100% lurcher :P That high tummy tuck screams grey hound as does her colouring.
  21. If its any consolation I've done the same thing before. I was out walking Nelson who was a Rhodesian ridgeback that was one of my regular doggies to walk when i was about 12 ish and this wee shit of a yorkie came up all teeth and spit and was ready to lay in. Nelson was trying to attack the thing so I shoved the yorkie with my foot. wee sod yelped and i got a rollicking from its owner. Even then I was aware of lead laws and her dog wasn't on a lead i was quick to point out to which she replied "Buttons is a well behaved dog and doesn't need a lead :o  ".
  22. It is sweet but to be honest in the interests of safety i wouldn't let him go to spend the night with the family without you there (his owner) to supervise. He may be very sweet when he is on his own territory but when hes in a strange house, it may be a different scenario, so i certainly would strongly advise against it. Sorry to rain on your parade but i wouldnt like to see any accidents which may endanger the kid or stryker's life.
  23. poor wee dogs. Tammy you have your work cut out for you but I honestly do admire you so much for taking the time to help these wee poms and chis :buzi:
