I thought the whole point of their job was to save people? I dont understand what the big deal is if the dogs were contained... why couldnt they just go in the side like instructed? I bet they wouldnt feel as threatened if your dogs were labs. :roll:

Well, I wouldnt think of two males being a problem but seeing as theres a female to throw in there, Im sure thats gonna be interesting. :wink: My friend has 4 male dogs, 2 of which are pit mixes and they all do fine together... except for her chow, hes way too dominant. Males tend to do really well together. Females... usually not, unless theyre submissive, like my baby. :P Im sure Taz and Baxter will work out their rank on their own. My guess is Taz will end up the dominant one because he'll feel reassured with his family around while Baxter is the new guy and doesnt have that same reassurance. I dont like that shelters do that but I can see why they would. On the one hand I agree with Jess, SG, and BK but part of me has had the [i]experience[/i] first hand of how difficult it is when you do label a dog correctly. :-? Weve labeled puppies by breeds other than pit bull when thats what it most likely was. I cant tell you how many people Ive had run at the words, "pit bull." So I can see shelters frustration with this. However, I dont think its right to decieve people. They need to know what theyre getting into. Ive always been upfront about what breed a dog probably is but if I have one of the people "above" me say to not do it, then I have to listen. :x I dont agree with it but we have gotten more puppy adoptions that way. You all are right about the "what if"s but we havent had it happen. Id hate for anything bad to happen because of mislabeling so that why I dont do it unless I "have to" (when Im told to by other people). We have gotten returns because someone thought a lab mix was a pit bull, but we didnt mislabel. The mom was a black lab, and we had no idea who dad was. I always see pit bulls labeled wrong, most likely intentionally... boxer/terrier mix pointer/terrier mix lab mix mastiff mix or labeled under AmStaff or Staffy.

People were very upset obviously, and even wrote on the walls which pets were theirs and contact information to get them back. When the evacuees left, someone shot 14 dogs that were left at the school. (IMO, there were probably more considering the amount of people there.) The type of bullets found were the same kind that the police use. The sheriff suggests it may have been somone else but doesnt deny the possibilty that it was his deputies. Sherrif Jack Stephens states, " [I'm] certainly not prepared to say, uh, without reservation, that it wasnt one of our officers that did it, but what I do know is that it is a dispicable act, and someone who did this has some imperfection in their psyche and if that someone is a law enforcement officer, they cant be in this business. Theyre in the wrong business."

I havent had this problem with my cat before... Maybe you could try mixing the medicine with peanut butter? If she still wont take it then wip it on her nose and paws. instinct will tell her to lick it off, not for food but just to be clean. :wink: Always works with my lil boy.

Except for lost pets, I think ads shouldnt be allowed in the newspaper about animals. Stuff like this is just frustrating. :x Theyre not just something to be tossed around like trash or to make a profit off of. :evil: :cry: Good idea to tell rescues.
