1. That was cute! This just killed me ROTFLMAO :biggrina:
2. In most places and probably where this happened it is the law that your dog is on a max. 6ft leash at all times in public. Why don't people understand this? Don't get me wrong, I don't believe this dog should or needs to be muzzeled in public. Dogs will be dogs and dogs are and always will be animals. My rescue dog is dog aggressive and while she never steps outside off lead ever, if a dog comes up to her off leash and she bites it she will need to be muzzeled in public for the rest of her life. I've read many times about how you should carry a big stick or mace incase an off leash dog runs up to you. If you use it you just say you were worried the dog was going to attack, the idea is it's better than you having to muzzel your dog everyday and everytime you go out just for a walk. (If that dog is reported again it is the death penalty BTW. )
3. I am so sorry for you and Boomer. Rest in peace sweet Holly. Thinking of you.
4. How do you cook chicken gizzards and heart for a dog? I picked up a pack of it today at the grocery store for Magic, I know it's good for dogs but don't know how to prepare it. I'm not good in the kitchen to begin with but have never bought gizzards and heart yuck!!! Also they have chicken liver that I was going to get too but wanted to wait and see if I can manage with this first. How do you cook these things??? At least long enough to kill any bacteria. Thanks :)
5. Spray Static Gaurd on his comb and brush.
6. That's so cool that you're going to teach Buck German commands for the exchange student. I had a print out of German commands but I could only figure out how to say sitz and platz. I don't think Majie really knows the words but obeys my hand and arm signals. :)
7. Nupro and Solid Gold are two popular brand names of supplements. I

dog food?

I would recommend these dry foods: Innova Wellness Canidae Chicken Soup for the Dog Lovers Soul I just found this site, it has dog food reviews: http://www.greatgoldens.com/reviews/dogcomp_d.htm
9. I have a GSD (also adopted) but she's not solid black and I have a rat but not a Rat Terrier. This is my GSD Magic: I would love to see pictures of your doggies!!!
10. Today for a change and because Magic is crazy about Fish I bought the Fish and Sweet Potato Wellness rather than the Super5 Chicken based one that I normally get. I've read quite a few times that if your dog doesn't have allergies you shouldn't feed Lamb based food. Is that true and why? Fish is kind of like Lamb - an allergy food. Is it a bad idea for me to feed my GSD that has no problems with allergies this Fish and Sweet Potato dog food?
11.
I'm thinking it's a hound, too. I did some searches to see if Loreena McKennitt has any pets, but I couldn't find anything.
I found something that mentions a Doberman-Setter cross. (The 7th paragraph from the bottom) http://www.geocities.com/Vienna/6729/artint08.html
12. That's a Dobermann that hasn't been cropped and docked.
13. We had 2 Labs from the same family stay at our kennel and their names were Noodle and Nugget! :roflt:
14. The part of licking that drives me crazy.... Magic is obsessive compulsive about licking the cushions, arms and pillows on the couch and I've sat on a soaking wet spot that she had been licking for a long while a couple of times. She never really cleans herself and she doesn't make gross or annoying noises, it
15. I don't get a lot of stupid questions except for "does s/he bite?" as the person reaches their hand out and begins petting Magic. I get a lot of stupid and mean remarks like a mom telling her kids "that dog would eat you" and "get that thing away from me I don't trust the bastards."

FOODS...

I don't agree with some of the things on there like garlic. Actually most of it l think are okay and even good in small amounts. Everything in moderation... except for maybe tabacco and alchohol.
17. That is so scary! I am so glad he is okay. A dogs immune system is fully developed at 6 months of age and vaccines at that time provide immunity for life. Yearly vaccines (besides Rabies) are considered by many a big scam and not needed, they have little or no effect on the dogs immunity. Taken your dog is allergic to vaccines, I would have the remaining shots done seperately and discontinue vaccines all together except rabies of course which is required by law.
18. If it's not his eyes, I just think you have a tough one, which isn't a bad thing they usually are the best kind of dog! Magic has weird things like that too. I wish for one second she could talk to me and tell me WTF she is thinking! I think with these types of dogs you can't reason (not that you can reason with any dog but.... you know, they just kind of know) obedience is the next best thing. As already mentioned exercise is good, a tierd dog=sleeping dog is always good.
19.
Getting his eyes checked isn't a bad idea. But, if his eye sight is bad, can they do anything for it? I would also really try and increase his excercise. Feeling all geared up with nowhere to expend his energy could make him pretty loopy and irritable.
I agree, have his eyes checked. That is kind of a long list of things he's knocked into that I'd be worried. Excercise is a wonderful thing, run him into the ground! Excercise solves 80% of behavioral problems. Keep up with your OB.
20.
you're gonna laugh at me, but I have avoided taking Laurel to the vet because of that. I took her once, she pooped out of fear...I am taking her again Saturday, but she is more socialized then she was the first time. If it helps, I walked her both before the drive and after. and she still pooped. Sometimes fear is more than training can overcome...
Don't worry! Do you know how many times people turn red and are sooo embarassed when their dog pees/poops in the office? It happens all the time, several times a day. I couldn't care less these are dogs, dogs don't get embarrassed, though they do have a weird sense of humor! LOL I know that even the cleanest dogs get stressed and poop. Don't worry about it because it doesn't mean that your dog isn't housebroken or dirty or disobedient or even that you didn't bother to take him out first - it happens. Especially the Vet will understand totally - most people who work with dogs don't even blink an eye at that stuff, it's so normal.
21. I think you're doing okay. Walking IMO isn't really exercise especially for large breeds. I would interprete the table as non-stop hard activitiy like running. If you're not comfortable with the recall your dog can get just as much freedom with a harness and long lead, I use a 40ft lead.
22. Awww poor Meg, give her big hugs and kisses for me please. I hope she is not emotionally scared. I hope she is okay. What a good girl, she knows you are there to protect her and she trusts you so much. Is something being done at your club to prevent this from happening again? The dog should never be off lead ever again! The owner is going to have to accept that, I did... Don't hate me but I have an adopted German Shepherd and she does not like other dogs at all. I cannot trust her with other dogs but I have learned to accept it. She is perfect in everyother way and I wish she could have a normal dog life but she cannot go near other dogs, she always has to be on a leash. She cannot play with dogs or go to Petsmart or go to dog parks. It really sucks but that's just the way she is.
