1. Magic will sleep with me on the bed but when Ryan is there, forget it! She knows she's not allowed by Ryan. When she hears him coming down the hallway she makes a mad dash for the floor. We have fights about whether or not she's allowed on the bed. She doesn't want to get in the middle of it so she just sleeps in our room on her big comfy, expensive doggie bed. Ryan doesn't like it because "there is not enough room" - she's a big German Shep and she steps all over him when he's sleeping LOL. She's not dainty about getting up but she curls up into a little ball when she gets into bed. Soon it will be exceptable, it's been two years but maybe in a couple more years she'll be fully allowed. I don't think it makes a big difference, I let her sleep on the bed and she obeys me much more than Ryan. When he tells her something she always looks at me first to see if it's okay.
2. Doglistener - I have to admit I haven't read your post through yet but I am wondering why you don't recommend playing tug-o-war with any dog? One other thing that I just can't leave unmentioned is you use the term POOR BREEDING AND RESCUE DOGS together. That gets to me because many dogs in rescue are not poorly breed they are from good lines with champion parents etc... but end up in rescue for whatever reason but are not necessarily poorly breed.

4. German Shepherds. This one is a rescue too, isn't she beautiful!!! I love the blacks and bi's!!! Husky's I think are one of the most beautiful breeds too. I also think Shelties and Collies are very regal looking dogs. They are very photogenic and are always captured beautifully in drawings, photographs and paintings. They look beautiful, always! American Bulldogs and Bullmastiffs are gorgeous, very sophisticated looking dogs. :)
5.

bolt it to the floor
How do you bolt a tree to the floor?
Oh we have hardwood floors.
6. No it wouldn't be fair to the dog. This is a lot of responiblility but if you think you could handle fostering him and work to get him into a perfect home, maybe you could do that?
7. Don't decorate the tree with glass balls and bolt it to the floor. Oh and don't use any food on the tree like stringing popcorn or candy canes. Those are the only problems I've had.
8. Happy birthday beautiful girl!!! :new-bday: The first picture I screamed out loud and had to have everyone that's home come and look at this cute baby!!! Have a good day Jaeden and eat some cake for me and Majie! :)
9. Magic is a big tug-o-war fan and her favorite toy are rope toys. OMG you should see her whip that thing around (a deadly weapon for sure) and throw it in the air!!! What's your puppers favorite toy? I have pictures for everything...share your's too! :)
10. Hang in there!!!!! It gets better trust me! Obedience, obedience, obedience that's the only answer, there's no easy way around it. I know exactly what you
11. Perhaps you could contact the breed rescue in those cities where your two contacts are. Maybe they would do the application and home check for you?
12. woooohooooo!!! That's excellent!!! Keep it up feeding by hand and it will be history.
13.
you could leave out the carbohydrates from your homemade food, not just in the winter but period - dogs do not need high levels of them in their diet anyway and they are getting more than enough from the kibble. the mass for extruded dog food must have a certain amount of grains present or it will clog up the extruder. just give meats and vegetables.
ahhh I was going to mention leave out the carbs but I wasn't sure. TDG you are very knowledgeable about diet.
14. I don't think you could do much better?? though when I feed Canidae, Magic was pooping about 4 times per day. I know a lot of people who have also commented on the high stool volume from feeding it. Very active dogs go more often and it could be that too. You could just follow behind them with a plastic bag or pooper scooper and get it before it freezes to the ground.
15. That sounds like a lot of poop. You could probably get it down to 2-4 clean-ups per day for two dogs. Mind if I ask what you feed? I find no matter what my dog eats if she is being very active that day, like when we're at the cottage (swimming/running all day) or I take her to work (kennel - running around all day) she poops 5 times per day!! A little bit here and a little bit there. You should get less poop with a good quality kibble or BARF.

17. Wonderful poem, very sad but true. Thanks for sharing.
18. I'll get Magic toys and bake her cookies. I would like to get her a nice coat or sweater, it's so hard to find them in XL though.
19.
Picky dogs that "decide" they don't like their food anymore are MADE by people. A healthy dog will NOT starve itself to death. If you start changing his food everytime he "decides" he doesn't like it anymore, he will do it his WHOLE life. He KNOWS that if he doesn't eat his food he gets to have something else. Feed him, give him 15 minutes to eat then (If he hasn't eaten it.) pick up the food and give him NOTHING (not even treats) until the next meal. Eventually, he WILL get hungry and he WILL eat what YOU decide. You are the person. YOU get to decide what he eats, NOT him.
I agree. Though I said that once to a 5lb Yorkie owner, who's dog wouldn't eat. The breeder of the dog, who I work for said no, he could stare to death. I guess because the dog is already so tiny if he lost a couple pounds nothing would be left of him????
20. Good luck wishes for Paddy and a speedy recovery.
21. Magic didn't do well on Canidae. She had bad gas and large soft stools. I won a bag of Wellness in a GSD Rescue raffle so she's on that bag right now. She loves it because it is pretty fishy (she loves fish) she doesn't have the gas and her stool is perfect and only once or twice a day. Innova or Fromm is another brand I would try. There are products other than canned you could add to Miles food so he thinks it's yummy. What I'm thinking of is stuff like Natures Link, here's the website http://www.natureslink.ca/ that's just one company, it might give you an idea about the different kinds of food available.
