1. Horrifying! :o I can't conceive of any parent being that careless. It sounds fishy to me. How's "dear mommy" going to explain to her child (when she's old enough to understand )why she has no foot!
2. A nice wedding free weekend at the cottage sounds in order!
3. Wow...that is one scary bite location. Your son was lucky to escape with such a minor puncture. :o Good luck on the vet visit: maybe Star is just cranky because she feels unwell. If I were in your situation I wouldn't let Star on the bed with him anymore and I would teach him to not get that close to Star's face to avoid the possibility of a more serious repeat occurance.
4. Wonderful news to wake up to! You're great Tammy! :D I hope they settle in their new homes quickly.
5. Extremely disturbing.... :( How could anyone, anywhere think that's acceptable?
6. If only more owners knew their dogs as well as you Courtnek! You would think that all the other owners would be happy to know you are looking out for their dog's safety as well as for your own. :-? I bet the other owners were disgusted by her outburst! Don't waste another thought on her!!
7. Yay! Good news! :D I'm happy for you and Free!
8.
My dogs would never go in a puddle (unless it was in their way). 9. Very cute! I'd love to see what they look like as adults. I hope they go to great homes!
10. Jerry likes a good chest and belly rub, but his favorite spot is just in front of his little stub of a tail. He goes all weak in the legs. Ben's like BK with the ears. He LOVES to have his ears rubbed and grunts, groans, and pushes hard against your hand. It's heaven for him when we clean the inside of his ears....  He also enjoys being scratched above his tail - does the "present butt" salute when you try to just pet him on his head.
11. I'm sorry to hear of Free's tangle with the raccoon. :o If it were one of my dogs, and if I had a firearm that I knew how to use, I would have done the same thing. It sounds like her quarantine will just be an inconvenience for a while...thankfully no more than that! Gee...your life's been exciting lately, hasn't it? :o
12. That's too cute! :D What great "emergency helpers"! They've got the rapid response down pat. Yesterday evening my husband was checking through the DVD drawers at the bottom of the entertainment center but none of his suggestions appealed to me so I joined him to find a title. There we were side by side crouched down when... in zooms Jerry! He lay down neatly between us like the sphinx and supervised the job. Never did find a DVD both of us wanted to watch, but Jerry got a lot of petting out of the deal. Furkids have a way of sneaking up on you. At the end of the evening I wound up with my laptop on my lap, Ashley draped over my left arm, Ben's head draped over my mouse arm, and Jerry flopped over full length on my feet. I don't remember any of them actually showing up! :hmmmm: It's all part of their appeal, isn't it?
13. Something like that just takes the wind out of your sails, doesn't it? :-? Someone with way more muscles than brains demonstrated their IQ. I'm sorry this happened to you Courtnek. I would be furious, just as you must be. I hope the police catch them...even though the chances of that are slim. Your puppers did good though!!! :D
14. I agree with OG that you can't change your Grandpa, so how about trying to teach Carson? Can he sit by your chair when you eat instead of under the table to keep him out of the way of feet? Is there another place Carson could rest in place of the couch to keep out of the way of the deliberate tripping? Your Grandfather is not going to remember not to do certain things and that it's not something he has control over at this stage of his life. So maybe you can help Carson keep out of his way. :D
15. Here from Boston.com is a story about an unusual sentence for dog abuse: Man forced to wear sign for animal cruelty July 22, 2005 HOPWOOD, Pa. --A western Pennsylvania man said he endured more than he expected when he agreed to an unusual sentence for an animal cruelty conviction. Ulysses Zimmerman, 22, of Point Marion, pleaded guilty to animal cruelty for allegedly neglecting his dog, denying it veterinary care and strangling the animal. But Zimmerman didn't pay a fine or spend time in jail. Instead, he stood at a busy intersection in South Union Township Thursday, wearing a sign that read, "I Plead Guilty ... Animal Cruelty is a Crime ... My Dog's Name WAS Salt and Pepper." Zimmerman was supposed to stand at the intersection for eight hours, but Robin Moore, the Fayette County Humane officer who devised the sentence, allowed Zimmerman to leave early because of all the abuse passing motorists hurled at him. "Everybody started screaming at me and cussing me. I got there at 9:30 a.m., but Robin said at noon that she'd heard enough and that I could leave," Zimmerman said. Zimmerman denies he intentionally hurt his pet. My question is: If this is so, why did he plead guilty. My opinion is: He should have had to stay the whole time!
16. I hope the police take him to the station for a good talking too! And lock up his moped for a good long while as well! Yay for Kes and Kat! (and the everpresent poo bag 8) )
17. Poor thing! I would be horrified it one of my dogs got themselves in that state.... I bet her treatment is expensive. In this case she was way too tenacious with that porcupine! She must have been suffering so..
18. So sorry to hear of her passing. Rest in peace, sweet Zoey.
19. I'm happy to hear Tina is doing okay. RIP little pups. Tina is lucky you are caring for her now!
20. Signed. Poor dog; she should not own another animal...ever.
21. Waited a couple of days? :o :x That poor dog. I hope the abuser gets some hard jail time! Your story sure demonstrates the down side of being in the vet business. I don't know how you and other members handle all the sad cases you see. Hopefully the good cases balance it out.
22. :D What a cool idea! I love the taste-tester pictures and descriptions. I hope you have great success with your special dog treats.
23. :o MOOO! :o I'm happy she's a friendly cow! We live out in the country and we've never had a cow wander by. 8) Your house must have animal magnetism! Or perhaps you do. :D

World Dog Show

:o That is appalling. :o The instigators of this mess should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law! Although after reading about this particular shows in the past, I guess one shouldn't be surprised that it came to this sorry state. Why do dog owners subject their dogs to this sort of travesty? :flop:
