1. :o Is it a delayed reaction from the move, you think? I hope his attention-seeking behavior improves soon and he returns to his normal self! :D
2. An owner being home all the time is no guarantee that a dog will receive adequate care and a happy life. Having lots of money is also no guarantee! A person's record of care for their dogs at their vets is important, having adequate facilities to house the dogs in and outside is critical (IMO), spending time playing, grooming, and walking their dogs is important. Placing a dog with people who have the resources to handle behavior problems correctly is important. All of these should outweigh the single consideration of being away from the house 10 hours daily. You are a fantastic dog owner, Courtnek! I guess if the rescue groups eliminate a whole group of prospective owners based on one qualification alone, then shelter dogs will certainly have a leg up on finding a happy, well-adjusted home with us owners who have to work for a living! 8)
3. Thanks guys. She never talks about it even now, but she remains an avid animal lover - has three cats (all former strays) and two dogs (both rescues; one a walker hound and the other a beagle mix) and is fostering another beagle. Needless to say, they are inside dogs and cats and she has a 6 foot wooden privacy fence at her home. I'm so sorry for that little pup...
4. :o :x  I bet some future serial killer did it. I can't wrap my mind around the idea that any sane person would find pleasure/satisfaction from the suffering of any living creature. Poor dog.....   I'm reminded of what happened to my nieces poor rabbit years ago that was kept in an outside hutch inside a fenced back yard. She came home from school to find her beloved pet on her back step. It had been skinned and all its appendages had been removed. What a nightmare that was for her. She had trouble sleeping for a long time. People who torture animals deserve the same treatment, although who would be twisted enough to administer the punishment?
5. Just look them in the eye, smile, and say, "Thank you!" It's an honor to be The Crazy Dog Lady! :D More power to you. 8)
6. Welcome, Rave! I'm looking forward to seeing pics of your Landseer pup! I'm owned by a smooth coat Saint, named Ben and the world's laziest Rottie who goes by the name of Jerry. Both are older dogs who are now into their second childhood. House on the beach, eh? Sounds good!
7. How satisfying it is when a person gets a good dose of what's coming to them! :evilbat:
8. :o Something is under the shed.....She wants you to know....I hope it's small..... :o Happy Hunting!
9. Very depressing... I keep thinking about how I would feel if one of my boys were shot to death for no reason at all. Losing my furkids on top of possibly losing my home would be too much to bear.
10. Sending a ton of positive vibes your way for the meeting between Baxter and your gang! :D Exciting news!
11. I'm sorry to hear the official news about Pushycat. What a great life Pushy has had with you. (((((Courtnek))))) I hope his passing is gentle.
12. Congratulations to Hunter and Dakota!! :D Your HOA can now take a flying leap! 8)
13. Laurel has come into her own for sure! Love the pictures. :D
14. Rest easy, sweet Gladis. I'm so very sorry, Mouse.
15. Oh Mouse, I am so sorry to hear the news about Gladis. I wish you strength for the coming days, and I hope her passing is gentle.
16. Tammy - absolutely no flaming here!!! You saved their lives and have done the best you can for them. (((Tammy))) You remain awesome in my eyes! :kciuki:
17. Very happy to see you are safe and sound, Tammy! I'm so sorry that you are stuck with the father-in-law. You would think he could scrape up a little empathy and support from somewhere and ease off on the ultimatum. :-? I hope you're not homeless.....
18.
This has nothing to do with the topic of this post at all:  Behle, I love the quote in your signature! :D Who said that? I'd love to use it (on another forum) in my signature too - may I? ----> "In the end we are all separate: our stories, no matter how similar, come to a fork and diverge. We are drawn to each other because of our similarities, but it is our differences we must learn to respect."
Bubblezzz - just saw your post. Sorry for the delay. It's an anonymous quote I took from a quote site. I liked it. Use is however you like. I did! 8)
19. Your neighbor sounds like one heck of a jerk! I'd check out the noise laws just to be aware of the actual ordinances in your area. I don't have any training advice, since I've never had much a problem with barkers. I do know it is possible to get used to the sound of barking and tune it out so it's a natural ambient noise. After living next door in my youth to two kenneled beagles for two years I didn't even hear their baying. They belonged to my ignorant landlord. If the rest of your neighbors are fine with it, then I don't see how the guy could cause too much trouble. Good luck with the training! I like Carolk9s lawn mower suggestion. :evilbat:
20. I believe there's nothing harder than a rott's head! My Max (rest his soul) once dented the fender of our car when trying to chase a ball. He swung his head around and WHAM! It didn't even slow him down. :o I bet your husband won't be pulling that stunt again. I hope...
