1. Aw, that's great, Kat! It's like Meg was saying to you that she approves of Kes and that it's okay.
2. Jackie and Maya are only four years old, but Pooh Bear brought back their puppyhood too!
3. :new-bday: Scout! It sounds like you had a real fun birthday party!
4.
JM I thought I was going crazy when I saw this in another post. Did someone make a booboo???? :drinking: LOL.... I'm glad to see Pooh Bear on the road to recovery!!!!
LOL - well, you may be going crazy, but yes, somehow it ended up in the "what would your dog kill for" thread. I thought I had started a new one, but somehoe it ended up there, so I deleted it from there. Must have been another blonderheimers moment!
5. LOL, X!
6. I took Pooh Bear to the vet today, and he got his stitches and staples out. His incision looks great. The vet was happy with Pooh Bear's progress, although he would like him to be using his leg a little bit more. He's using his "new" leg more and more every day. The vet said that Pooh Bear can go ahead and romp with his sisters. I'm going to put his no-bite collar on him at night when I'm at work for a while, but other than that he'll be free from extra stuff. I'm going to start taking him to the lake to go swimming. That'll be the best therapy for him. Unfortunately, our lake isn't real clean, so he'll be nice and skanky when he gets out. Oh well... On the way home, we went to Petsmart, and of course Pooh Bear was a big hit there. He got to make a few new doggie friends and lots of people friends. And he already knows where the treats are at the check-out counter.
7. LOL! I love to hear about older dogs who get their second puppyhood! It sounds like Zoe has lots and lots of years left in her! Goofy dog!
8. Of course what one person thinks is edible another person may not! I voted yes! And you don't wanna know!
9. Some people would say that the lack of licking is a good thing! LOL My dogs are all lickers, and that's okay with me because I like doggie kisses, but some people don't like the licking. I guess it's each to his own! :-?
10. I agree that puppies just take a little more patience and time. It sounds like you're doing a good job with your puppy. I'm sure she'll get over the stage fright when she has developed a longer attention span. By the way, Aussiedoodle isn't a breed. Why don't you just say Aussie mix or Poodle mix. Your dog is a very cute mixed breed dog.
11.
what about and aussie. there are plenty of aussies in resuce that need homes ;) and they are great for runnig partners and excersise stuff and get along with other dogs :)
I'll have to agree with DAL about Aussies. Pooh Bear, who is an Aussie mix male, fit in immediately with my two Golden mix girls. They act as if they've been together forever. He's 15 months old and they're 4 years old, and they play together outside but they're all quiet in the house. An Aussie would have plenty of energy to be a running companion.
12. I'm so very sorry for you and your family for having to make this very difficult decision. It was the right decision to be made, and now Pepper will be free of the fear and anxiety issues. My condolences to your family.
13. I took Jackie and Maya over to Pooh Bear's foster home so they could all meet there. They got along fabulously; no aggression or nervousness at all, so I figured they were good to go, and they were. Once you find the dog you want, definitely have your dog meet the new one on neutral ground at least once, and more times if you think they need it, before you introduce the new dog into your home.
14. Cool! Now Kat, you're just going to have to carry a camera with you at all times!
15. I've actually heard good things about Malamutes. I'll be interested to hear about the "other side" too.
16. I would never want a poodle unless it was a standard poodle TOTALLY clipped like HF does. I think they look great then! I just don't like those foo-foo clips.
17. I'm so glad that Buddy didn't get hurt. I went through the same thing when Maya would jump the fence. I live close to a busy road, and luckily she always went the other way.
18.
luckily we have some smart squirels around here  they have learned to stay the heck out of our yard or they will get eaten..i've found a couple dead ones in our yard...maggie may be old but she can still get a squirrel
I have gigantimungous trees in my back yard, and my whole neighborhood is VERY wooded. So the squirrels keep going from tree to tree. I never see them on the ground when the dogs are in the yard, but they're terrible about taunting the dogs from the trees. Jackie has killed a few that weren't quick enough. By the way, I just went outside with the kids for a while, and every time Pooh Bear would start barking, I would walk over to him, grab the scruff and say "SHHHH" and look him in the eyes. And that would shut him up until he saw the next squirrel. Oh well, at least I got some exercise! I also filled in the Grand Canyon that they dug in the yard. Can you say ouchy back?
19.
for the hard core barkers, grab by the nape (loosely, dont hurt) and stare at them, in the face directly. say SILENCE and do not look away until they do. this sounds harsh to some, but doesnt hurt them and its how a dog mom would do it.
That's a good idea in theory Court, but when Pooh Bear does the barking is usually at the back of the yard (it's a big yard). My arm isn't that long! LOL! I was doing similar to what you suggested when Pooh Bear would be inside the door and the girls were outside chasing squirrels. I would loosely grab the nape of his neck and say "SHHHHHHHH" but I wasn't looking in his eyes. I'll try the stare-down next time and see if that helps.
20. Good news on your pup! And I agree, pictures are a must!
21. Sounds like a very nice puppy!
22. And if the socks are stinky before you freeze them, they'll like them even better!
23.
I had Pushy at the vet in his carrier, the plastic ones with not a lot of viewing room, and someone asked me if he was a Potbellied Pig....
You should have said "takes one to know one!" :krolik:
24. I can get Maya to quit barking, but Pooh Bear is still a challenge in that area. That's really the only bad habit he has left, which isn't too bad considering I've only had him for a month and a half. I just need to get rid of every single squirrel in the neighborhood, and then he'll be fine! :tard:
25. And here I was going to surprise everyone with my new look in Iowa, and now you've ruined the surprise! :motz:
