1. It's been in the mid-80s with about 50% humidity when it hasn't been raining. Today it was in the mid-70s (and rain mixed with sun). Good Alan impersonation, Izzy!
 2. I switched from the Gentle Leader to the Halti on my dogs. It's much more comfortable for the dog and they don't get any marks from it.
 3.
Jackie..hit 3 times and still around to talk about it? Are you sure your not a cat!! Wow, amazing and so scary. Did you feel your hair stand on end like they say happens before your are struck? My yellow lab hates the rain thunder and lightning, will have no part of it, the chocolate lab loves the rain and is not bothered in the least by thunder or lightning.
Okay, okay, so my body wasn't hit by lightning, but: 1st time I was in my sister's porch when it got hit by lightning, and it started on fire and welded her metal chairs to her metal cabinets. 2nd time I was in my horse trailer and had just loaded up the second horse when the horse trailer got hit by lightning. I screamed bloody murder, but the horses didn't make a sound (they were on rubber mats). The girls who were putting the ramp up said they saw a blue arc at the top of the trailer that went down to the ramp. One of the girls let go of the ramp and the other one didn't. The one who didn't let go didn't have any feeling in her arms for a day! That was on the Fourth of July, and I had been bucked off in the ring earlier! LOL 3rd time I had just gotten in the elevator at work when the building got hit by lightning and all the power went out. I was stuck in the elevator for 3 hours! So stay away from me when there's lightning!
 4. I'm only four houses away from the lake, but it's all private homes there, so I have to walk about two blocks to get to where I can take the dogs in. But there are lots of ducks and birds, so the lake is pretty skanky. I know the people who live in two of the houses right at the end of my block. I should ask them REAL nicely if they would let me take my dogs into the lake from their property. I'm sure the lake is much cleaner there.
 5. Wow, that really looks like a blast! Too bad it's not in Minnesota or I would be there with my kids! Be sure to take pictures when you go!
 6. I looked at my bill, and they charged $44.30 for "office call-exam" so I guess that includes the anal glands in with the general exam. Oh man, I can't even imagine having THAT smell in a car! OMD! I would take a car full of farters over one anal gland expresser! At least the farts dissipate once you open the windows! Anyway, Jackie is back to being bright-eyed and bushy-tailed again. That must have just felt miserable to her!
 7.

It isn't the easiest thing to do just like milking but when I worked at the practice I was always getting called to do anal glands because unfortunately I'm rather good at the technique
Well you know we all have our special talents.
Yea, they send me out to collet urine. Apparently I'm the urine queen......
You two certainly would have the most interesting bar tricks! "Hey baby, wanna see what I can do?" :ylsuper: I smashed my big toenail once, and the doctor had to drill holes in the nail so relieve the pressure. I could make blood come out of the holes just by pressing my toe down. I impressed a lot of people with that one!
 8.
Alena wanted me to ppost to you guys that Star did bark at billy, but she was waggin her tail, and a bit unsure at first, but now she wont leave his side.. :)
That's so good to hear! I figured that after a short re-introduction that everything would be fine!
 9.
THATS GOOD TO HEAR! FGLAD IT WASN'T ANYTHING SERILUS
LOL! Have you had a few :drinking: :drinking: :drinking: ? But thanks!
 10. Some people just don't want to know the truth! Like you say, "blinded by cuteness." Too bad you couldn't convince her to adopt.
 11. As far as my dogs go, Maya takes care of hers, Jackie doesn't, and I don't know yet about Pooh Bear. I'll have to keep an eye on him and see if he takes care of it himself. I think the majority of dogs do it themselves either by licking, pooping or dragging their butt. UNLESS they're a princess. Princesses don't do that sort of thing!
 12.
the only thing I see missing is rabies (and absolute MUST here, they will not allow Kes in the country without a rabies shot) and Bortadella (kennel cough, and I'm sure thats spelled wrong). I would do kennel cough simply because there may be other dogs in cargo on the plane. better safe than sorry. when are you coming here and where are you going? Did I miss an important thread somehow?
I was going to mention Bordatella too but got busy and had to turn off the computer before I left for work.
 13.
Glad she's okay! Did the vet say how often you need to take her to have it done?
Hmmm, he didn't and I forgot to ask. I'll have to give them a call and just plan on getting Jackie's done on a regular basis.
 14. I can always tell when Maya has taken care of hers because of the distinct aroma. But getting all of them done at once in a small examining room -- Wowzer! What a smell! The vet sprayed some doggie deodorant on her butt and then she was fresh as a daisy.
 15. Good news on Jackie! I took her in to the vet this morning, and it looks like she just needed her anal glands expressed! They were all full. Maya takes care of her own anal glands but obviously Jackie doesn't (it's not something a pricess would do). Everything else was normal on Jackie. And more good news is she lost 4 pounds since her last visit to the vet (which is a good thing). She was 90 pounds and now she's 86 pounds. I would like to see her get to 80 pounds. We've all been dieting and exercising, so we're all going to get in shape! I filled up the pools for the kids when we got home, and Jackie was the only one who went in, and she was playing afterward, so she's definitely back to normal! After the vet, Jackie and I went to Petsmart, which Jackie LOVES to do. And she hasn't whimpered once since we left the vet! YIPPEE!
 16. I must have been seeing things with Maya, because her eyes and face look normal, which is good because I couldn't find my doggie Benadryl. My back and fingers are killing me after Maya dragged me all over the place in the lake today! She was having WAY too much fun! I had fun too, even though she pulled me off my feet into the water. LOL
 17.
Aww, hope she's ok. She isn't straining to poo is she?
No, she looked normal when she pooped, and it was normal poop. And she didn't whimper when she peed or pooped, so it must not hurt to do that. But there has to be something not right back there.
 18. I just got back from riding Jerry, and poor Jackie was whimpering when I came in the door. I went in the back yard with the kids, and Jackie peed (but I wasn't quick enough to get over there to get a urine sample), and then she laid down back by the trees. I could hear her whimper a few times. Then I went over there and was petting her, and her tail was wagging but she wouldn't move. I was afraid maybe she was paralyzed or something. But I finally coaxed her up and she trotted over to Maya and Pooh Bear, and then a few more whimpers. When we came downstairs, she would whimper and look back toward her tail. So I do think it's something in the buttal-peepee area (do you like my scientific terms?). If she's not better by tomorrow morning, I'll take her in to my vet.
 19. I walked Pooh Bear down to the lake (about 2 blocks) today and started his hydrotherapy. He loved it! He spent most of the time walking in water that was too deep to be able to hop so that he had to use all four legs. And he swam a little too. And on the way home he was using his "new" leg a lot! So I'm going to take him there every day (unless it's storming). After I got him home, I put Maya's swimming harness on her (so that I could attach a 50 foot check cord) and took her to the lake. She had a BLAST! She was leaping through the water, swimming, leaping, swimming, pulling mom down in the water, leaping, swimming. And I got lots of exercise today too with taking both dogs to the lake and walking around in the water. But now Maya's starting to get a puffy eye, so I think she's allergic to the lake! I'm going to give her a Benadryl. I didn't take Jackie to the lake today since she's not feeling right.
 20.

Poor Jackie.
Take a urine sample to the vet! Hope she feels better soon!
Just curious. How would you go about doing this :-?
How do you get one from yourself?? When she urinates, you stick a cup underneath her to catch the unrine.
When they have to collect urine samples from horses, they have a cup on the end of a long pole, and as soon as the horse starts to pee, you stick the cup underneath. But some horses stop peeing immediately as soon as they hear the pee hit the cup! One of mine did. She peed and pooped like normal and even ran out to the trees once with the other kids. But she's still doing the occasional whimper (which she never does).
 21. This morning, Jackie has been whimpering occasionally. I palpated her entire body, and she isn't tender anywhere. Her nose is moist and her gums are pink. She's kind of moving in slow motion today, although she did eat her lunch. Jackie IS a pain woosie, so maybe she just slept wrong or something. I'm going to keep an eye on her this afternoon and if it continues, I'll take her to the vet. But what sucks is that I have NO idea what it is that's bothering her! I just wish she would tell me! Hopefully it's nothing.
 22. Oh, and my horse, Jerry, likes to cuddle too (but not in my lap). He likes to get kisses on the nose and he likes hugs and getting petted.
 23.

Jessa sandwich!!!!!
You would expect it to be a lot more fun. :evilbat:
LOL Yeah I do have something better in mind.... but it's a different situation... no dogs!
It doesn't look like there's too much more room on that couch! Too bad you have those mean old pit bulls that don't like people! :roflt:
 24. I also think she'll remember him. Just have him talk to your dog like he always used to as soon as he sees her, and let her come up to him.
 25. Jackie loves to give kisses and loves to be petted, and likes to sit or lie down next to me, but she's not real comfortable getting hugs. She doesn't hug back. Maya, on the other hand, is a VERY touchy-feely kind of gal. If you sit down next to her, she'll be in your lap. If she sees you sitting down, she'll get over there as fast as she can to get in your lap. If you hug her, she leans into you. She's a real leaner. And if you stop petting her, she'll put paw on your arm. Pooh Bear is a real cuddler too. He likes to sleep with me, and he snuggles right up into me. He likes to put his head on me. He likes kisses and hugs, and he's a leaner too, but not as much of a leaner as Maya is.
