Queen Bitch Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 So about a week or so back I was browsing the Petfinder site and was looking at dogs in Iowa. I saw a big goreous brown boy that was labeled as a hound/Vizsla mix. I said to myself "Self, that is most definately a purebred Rhodesian Ridgeback, though he appears to be missing his ridge." So since I had a wild hare in a certain place, I emailed the rescue this email: "Hi, I just wanted to drop you a line to tell you that this dog appears to be a purebred Rhodesian Ridgeback. ( Some RRs don't have the distinctive ridge on their back.) Perhaps you could change his listing to Rhodesian Ridgeback or R.R. mix to give him a better chance? I dropped a line to the Rhodesian Ridgeback rescue site to let them know about this gorgeous boy, here is a link to their site...Hope I was helpful and good luck." I recieved the other day an email from the RR rescue saying that they would have their contact in that area check him out. Today I got this email from the rescue he is at: "Corrie, Thanks for your help ... you may have made a huge difference in Rusty's life. The Rhodesian Ridgeback rescue people did contact us as a result of your email and we're working on placing him in a home that knows the breed. Thanks again." Sooooooooo I think I'm going to go play "middleman" some more and link up some more people in a similar manner, since not everyone at shelters is as much of a breed nerd as I am. Oh and on a sidenote, my dog tourettes has rubbed off on Ryan. He will see a dog ( most of the time before I do) and try to guess what it is. It is soooooooo sweet. Quote

bk_blue Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 Well done  That dog may not be alive today if it weren't for your efforts. What are you going to have if you don't have a pizzle? Weirdo. :P Quote
Malamum Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 Way to go matey. I was just thinking to myself, something like that has got to make you feel all warm and fuzzy... and then I read your second post  We can't all help every dog out there in rescue by taking them all in ourselves but helping out like you just did has to be the next best thing. Quote
SixstarDanes Posted June 18, 2004 Posted June 18, 2004 That's great! I'm sure the ridgie is all the happier. Quote
