1. I'm pretty much a combo of Tammy and Abker. I will always take the bigger dogs out first when I am volunteering before I'll take the smaller ones. (Plus the other "main" volunteer is more comfortable with smaller dogs so it works out.) I am pretty wary of any dog that is totally aloof and doesn't want to have any sort of interaction, not even a check out sniff.
2.
And yeah, ordinairly, while cautious, I typically dont just out right ask.
Then YOU are the one being an irresponisble dog owner and not very mannerly either. Actually by not asking you are being pretty rude and inconsiderate. If I was with the most dog friendly dog in the world, I would still be irritated by having any random person allowing thier dog free rein to get in my dog's face. How am I am supposed to know if the dog approaching us is friendly to other dogs or people? Or sick? PetSmarts and PetCos don't have any requirements beyond leashes for dogs that come into thier stores.
I think the owner bears some responsibility to protect other dogs from their own dog also given that petsmart is somewhere where you EXPECT to see other dogs.
And you bear the responsiblity to protect your dog(s) from harm by not allowing them to do something so foolhardy as approaching an unknown dog, wherever it may be without explicit permission. Yes, you EXPECT to see other animals at petsmart/PetCo, but that doesn't mean that it is a free for all. Many dogs DO go there for socialization, being in the store isn't an open invitation for being approached. Much like when a woman goes to a bar, she should probably EXPECT to get hit on by some slobbering toothless loser, but it doesn't mean she has to welcome it or accept it. And knowing that most of the general population isn't as dog savvy as some of the members here, it is YOUR responsibility to make sure the other dog is approachable before you let your dog just run up and say "hi". It should be common sense.
3. Look at those ears! They are up!!! Wooohooo! I have the pleasure of meeting that sweet boy, so take that!
4. Yep Dalmatians are big smilers. Two of our three would "smarl" all the time. Does Peyton sneeze when she smiles? Phyllis would always sneeze like a fiend when she smiled.
5.
I'm sorry I can't recall what was unfavorable to you about the JRT page. If you could kindly let me know it would be greatly appreciated. I really want the site to be accurate and each breed presented in the truest light. jilld
You know Jilld, we have already given you PAGES of information and have already told you what you need to fix. Here is a novel idea, instead of us yet again putting a bunch of effort forth on your behalf, why don't you just look up your own previous threads on here? I seriously doubt that an of us want to go round and round with you again. I agree with anyone who said that until your research is complete and accurate that you should take your site down. It isn't helping ANYONE if it is not accurate.
6.

Ok, you redeemed yourself on this one. I just spit pineapple juice all over.
7. Well my Conar never has that problem and he is for all intents and purposes a Pom on steroids. He's very fluffy all over, but that has never been an issue. Before him all of our dogs were shorthaired, so I don't know what to tell you.
8.

Hellfire and WHAT JM?!?!? :x *sigh*
I fixed the spelling. Okay, so there's my third blondheimer's episode on Dogo today!
 You still don't have pizzle privledges for a while young lady. Go to your crate!
9. Schnauzers and just about any terrier are going to be barky. Any terriers other than the bull and terrier varieties tend to be pretty vocal. As do MinPins. Personally, I wouldn't reccomend any of the dog breeds that you have picked for a household with small children. The breeds you have picked are either small and fragile or somewhat tenacious and feisty. I would reccommend a Pug, French Bulldog or Boston Terrier if you are looking for smaller dogs. Pugs and Bostons are bit more sturdy and not as typically" terrier feisty" as the breeds you are looking at. Personally, I have always loved the look and temperment of Giant Schnauzers, but they are too barky for my tastes.
10. I think a lot of the advice that you got in the original thread still holds for this issue.
11. My thoughts are with you Court, and your family.
12. Ryan's sister's dog, Maddy got let out by her boyfriend a couple weeks ago while she was in heat. Big surprise, she got bred. Better surprise, she got spayed this week. Thank Dog there are some sensible people that aren't "dog nuts" like us.
13. You too Hmmmmm, I did the same thing yesterday. Weird, I wonder how many other Dogo gals are on the same cycle. :o I know women who live together tend to be, but in an online community?
14. Pyr, I was in no way being snarky with you, I was merely pointing out a very valid fact as to why some of us weren't being supportive. Had I been snarky, my response would have been much much different. Pointing out a different side of things is not being snarky. Nor do I think that those of us who aren't being supportive and are offering other sides of things need to be lectured about what she is going through. ( that last bit isn't directed to anyone specifically, just in general.) Many of us have or are going through similar situations.
15. Court, my sig has nothing to do with this situation, I changed it before I ever read or responded to any of these posts and I have been away from my computer for the better part of the last two weeks, actually since the begining of April( when Ryan got back from Iraq) I have only been in town or not otherwise occupied for a short time. I'm still working on catching up on threads on here and my various other message boards. It's a rough job. My response to Pyr didn't concern just me. It's not that I agree/disagree with Deaf's decision, but how much sympathy should she get for getting rid of a dog that she doesn't really like and has wanted to be rid of for quite a while in the first place? I would say, not too much. She's mentioned it several times over on these boards.
16. And perhaps Pyr, she would be getting more support had she been more supportive of some of the other people on this forum in the first place, such as those who are/were going through much of the same thing.
17. On second thought, I'm sure you don't want to hear my opinions on this topic because they aren't all warm and fuzzy and " you go girl!", so I removed them. I've kept my cyber mouth shut this long, might as well continue to do so.
18. I'm with HF and Kendalyn. I would do it if it was my only option. HF, as usual:lol:, has already stated my case so just go reread her post to hear what I say.
19.
people agreed that the selecting the right breed for you guide was good, so why remove access to it? as administrator, K, how are you helping dogs? the folks complaining about the dogsindepth.com site are also the ones (maybe yourself, with a pitbull icon?) who have breeds that are often abandoned.
Once again, you're wrong. I've complained about your Pit Bull information too and they aren't my breed. I've complained about other inaccurate information on other breeds, that once again are not my breed of choice. We all pretty much have our breed(s) of choice, but above all we are a group of dog lovers that don't want to see any mistaken info about ANY breed. You have come here several times and have not fixed 99.9% of any of the things we have complained about. Why keep coming back?
20. Awwwwwwwwwww so he was a Trice, not never?
21. What Kendalyn means is this:http://www.springerusa.com/ It is an attachement for a bike so you can give your dog more excercise. I will be getting one eventually too. ( It would probably help to get the dog first...)
22. Maybe this is Pauly's way of telling you that he is really interested in a raw diet?
23.
Rowie (pronounced Row-E) -Scottish Bread Roll.
Like Row your boat or like Row (ryhmes with cow) as in an arguement? I've always said Row(ie) like the boat.
24.
I am looking for an APBT puppy and I dont want to support bad breeders. I am looking to spend anywhere up to $600. I would prefer a Fawn so that the hair wont show up on everything and I also prefer a longer legged APBT not a stubby one. I live in Texas and I am willing to travel pretty far.
So what happens when you get different colored furniture/clothes? Dog hair shows up on everything, regardless of color.
