She eats a lot, gets lots of exercise too....why is she soo small? And she's 5 months old already!!We took her to the college nearby to play with some doggy friends and they asked me how old she was. They thought she was 3 months old! :o And she's still way too skinny...:-? corgilady
:o Egg, I cannot see any of your pics, so I'll have to take your word for it! I don't raise dogs, but I used to raise horses. it was a proven FACT that the ones that got out and ran at will and were able to eat grass anytime they wanted were a lot larger at age 1 year than the ones that were kept in the barn and fed grain and hay. So perhaps we could apply that to Duck and say she needs more exercise??? Also what are you feeding her?

Guest Anonymous
Egg. I can't see the posted pix either but I could see them via your website. Duck is beautiful! She is a lot less skinny than she was before, her hips are protruding like they were. I'm not a lab owner and never have been....where's Jacsmom? Maybe she can help you! Guest roo
Egg X's for me too, maybe Sash can help you
Hobbit
I can view your website, but get the X's. Don't feel bad, when I tried to post from Webshots .... I got the X's, too. I even tried several times to make sure I was getting all of the url...still didn't work.
wildbunch
I got the dreaded x as well. Is it just me or is this happening alot lately. Don't worry Egg I can't post photos either. Duck is a cutie. What brand of dogfood do you feed? How much is she eating a day? Remember slow growth is a good thing, the slower a large breed dog grows the healthier the joints will be when older. Our great dane pup is smaller than she should be at almost 5 months and everyone thinks shes younger. I have decided to take this as a good sign and am nothered by it. The skinny thing could be a growth spurt there have been times that Kimba looks like a barrell with four legs  but a week later looks underfed. How long has she looked skinny? If you start getting really concered visit the vet and see what they have to say about her.
Marble
hey, i don't have any brilliant answers for you but i have been watching dresden grow and the first thing to grow is her rib cage, so she gets all bulgy looking there and the rest of her body gets all long and skinny looking, then her legs get longer and finally her head grows to match and she's proportionate again. i'm not saying it's just her growing and there are many people here who are more qualified to answer your question, but maybe part of it is she's going through a growth spurt again ? just a thought. Carolk9s
Jesse was VERY thin well past his 2 year mark, as long as Duck is otherwise healthy I would not worry TOO much over her being a slender girl. Could be genetics, could be her metabolism.
Carolk9s
Oh and Duck is SUCH a pretty girl! She looks like she's happy and having a great time. I would not mistake her for a 3 month old based on the photos. I love the front paws crossed photo, she will grow into those paws, don't you worry! Cheetah
hehehe I love the pic of Duck with the broom, she looks so adorable and innocent  I also love her coloring. She looks like a happy dog :) From the pics I don't think I would mistake her for a 3 month old either, but what do I know? All I can say is that from the pics she looks healthy and happy. :D

yellowlabsrule
How tall is she in inches? How old is she? Here's a couple pics
eggrolyn1223
Duck is 5 months old.I don't know how tall she is...I'll go and measure her when I get home :-? Stupid question:Where should I measure to?Top of head or shoulders? She is eating Science Diet.I know that's not the best food, but I'm still not sure about the other brands...I know we'll be switching though. There's nothing wrong with her right now..just worrying too much about her size. You'd never know that she was eating science diet if you looked at her coat. It's really shiny. And her head is too small for her ears...she doesn't look like a Lab at all!!Oh well, I'm not showing her, and I couldn't care less...just thought maybe she was underfed.. :-? Off subject:I took her to the vet for a checkup and all one day, and I saw this poor dog..OMG!!His nails were....SO LONG!!!!!I should've taken a picture..they were so long that they went down the floor, then curved around and UP!! :o Poor dog.. And the owner didn't even know!! :x I pretended to whisper to my dad about it, but really loud on purpose.Don't know if the person heard. And she has an eating problem...little pig gobbles her food!!And once she ate so fast that she threw up a whole pile of slobbery kibble!!(it was still in the shape of kibble..just wet.Is there any way I can stop her from eating so fast? And is she supposed to eat 3 or 4 times a day?Someone from the park said she should be eating 4 times a day..trust you guys more than her though
If you look at her from above, it looks like she has an orange stripe down her back, and all the rest of her fur is yellow. And the fur on the back is adult-ish fur.Hard and not so fluffy. Her ears are still really soft though...love feeling her ears! 8)

Guest Anonymous
Egg, I think she is just beautiful. What are your other food options and we can compare ingrediants?
Hobbit
Some puppies will eat fast so they get back to playing. Sometimes, it's because they aren't getting enough food, or it's been a long time inbetween meals and they are hungry. We have some pups that are 5 months old, too. They do much better at eating if they are fed morning, noon, and late afternoon. I know you are in school and probably can't do this, but it helped our pups. With this schedule, they don't frantically eat.
yellowlabsrule
Eating fast is a Lab thing. It doesn't matter how many times you give it to Winnie, she'll always eat it fast. I don't know if this is good or bad, but sometimes if there is water in her bowl I just dump the food in the water. That slows her down! Duck looks just like my sister's puppy! (I think my sister pup (goldie) is almost a year) Goldie is a golden lab cross. She is HUGE though! I would guess she's 30 inches to the shoulders! :o She is a giant! Does Duck have big feet? When Goldie was a pup, she had feet so big that she would trip herself! She is also very thin and she looks like she's starving (acts like it to!), but she does get plenty of food. What breed is Duck? A lab or a lab cross?
Hobbit
I think that's a puppy thing. They don't know if there will be a next meal! Egg, just curious > do you have Duck on a regular deworming program? When was the last time she was dewormed?
