  1. Thank goodness most of us lot are reasonably sane enough to deal with the insanity of the insane ones  Didnt think that person Sandra was like that at all but ya never know. Just goes to show! :o
  2. Sounds like great fun! Hope you can manage to go ESS and Abker
  3. Thats what irks me greatly is people foolong around with breeding not knowing what the genotype is of the breeding pair and not knowing how a cross will turn out geneticaclly! Most of these buck eejits couldn't even define a gene so in my opinion they shouldnt be messing around with them!
  4. Now... I'm a dog lover but I cannot and will not tolerate barking that goes on and on! :o It goes through my brain so bad arghhh! I live pretty far out in the country and most of the dogs on the farms are kept in at night, so my major bone of contention lies with the foxes because once those guys get started with that high pitched yipping, its hard to think straight!
  5. Wolves don't typically show the same sort of engaging behaviour that dogs do. They are wild animals and should remain wild. The one that I worked with through a cruelty case was just like that and at times it was hard to predict his behaviour and harder still to try and categorise it.
  6. wow...another thread turned sour by another sour (member).. we really do attract them somehow here at Dogo! :o
  7. ok so I'll reconsider...shes been very good today  Actually shes been a wee angel and even when I put her into the travel crate for half an hour to get used to it, there wasn't a peep out of her. She thinks now though that giving a paw will help everything be better
  8. edit: I was informed this morning that she also ate a sock of Dad's last night. This morning we are starting off with a clean slate and a new day  Jaci, the needle idea worked! thanks :D
  9. Shes totally rebelling through the whole adolesence stage!!! :o This afternoon I was typing an email in between doing a split shift at work and I heard a heck of a bang. She had jumped up on my dresser, got tangled in my cd player lead, pulled that down as well as most of the stuff there including a glass of water. Glass smashed and the sound was that much that she peed! :o Had to clean up a shed load of wee glass splinters and check her paws. Her paws were fine but I managed to get a wee shard under the skin and its like a wee bit that won't come out no matter how much I tweeze it. I'm taking a stance with her now that she isn't even getting an inch and currently she is sitting in a sit stay outside of my bedroom door and won't be released until she gets told. How the heck am I going to get this dog on a plane next week  :o
  10. I had my back turned for literally a minute while I was on the phone and she ripped the paper off one of my secret santa presents! :o I told her shes going to the home for the bad dogs and her response was arrerrf and gave me that cheeky look ....cheeky little madam she is! :o Sorry secret santa person out there..have to now go and re-wrap one of the things  Anyone want a rebellious Border collie ? Free to a good home?
  11. Funnily enough Court with you mentioning Labs it sparked off a convo that I had with a guy who lives a few fields over from me. He shoots with his labs and has 3 of them, but he also shows. He was telling me that one of his bitches was mated 4 weeks ago to another stocky gundog type lab, but that he had some show people approach him asking if he wanted to use their dogs, which he declined because he likes the old type. he has a line of labradors that was started back in the 1800's of which his father and his grandfather bred dogs from, and I think its just wonderful because now his son has a bitch and is learning from his father so that he too can carry on the name. I definitely do think that the older style Labs and also most of the older style dogs are much better than what we have today. In the future when I am getting another BC years down the line, I will come back to Ireland or Scotland and I'll get a BC from there. The farmers in my opinion don't need to use genetic tests with the exception of CEA and PRA to register a dog with the ISDS . They just know how to breed a darn good healthy dog, and their eye for selection in my opinion outshines any sort of modern breeding done today.
  12. ooh so now the media perhaps realises that ALL dogs have the ability to show aggression and therefore attack. Still its good to see it publicised.
  13. I was in Jolleyes tonight with Kes getting her a dish to attach to the travelling crate and this woman comes up starting to stroke Kes and telling me about her Border collie cross. She was saying awww shes just adorable and Kes of course was lapping all this up and giving her paw which she only learnt to do a few days ago and now won't stop doing! Anyhow this woman then says "shes a crossbreed collie isn't she"? and I'm like :o with my friends who work there sniggering because they knew I didn't like hearing that. I was about to tell her no and there was a farmer guy behind and he spoke up and said "Thats no cross bred colliie, that there dog looks like shes from working sheepdog lines and well bred. I'd have her on my farm any day with a strong eye like that she would be working my sheep up over the hills". I said to the woman, hes right and then had a 3 way conversation with them both and told them that she is indeed bred from working lines and I mentioned her breeder which the farmer knew and I told him she was ISDS registered. Then we had a bit of a discussion about the show line BC's and the proper working BC's and I told her the differences. She then asked me did I train her for sheep and I went into how I'm a canine behaviourist and she said then about wanting her dog to learn obedience. I had to tell her I'm leaving next week and I'm not taking on any more dogs between now and when I leave (I'm booked up with dogs until the day before I go!), so I gave her the name of my old dog training club and she was on her way. There ends our trip to the pet shop of which Miss Kessandra (Mum calls her that) got rather spoiled with the staff giving her hum nums
