1. aww poor Sassy. hope her wee head feels better
2. ok for starters this thread is from a year and a half ago. secondly the girl who started it has since got a flat coated retriever.
3. Peggy it sure was a wee wee gift  I hate touching the toilet seat to put it down but i guess thats just what we will have to do from now on. That this morning just grossed me out
4. thats so cool! Divina is just a diva :D
5. Kes sleeps in her crate with a blanket. I couldn't trust her with a dog bed as she would eat it to pieces  Try petsmart or petco or one of the feed stores if you have them for a dog bed and take your dog with you so he can test it for himself and that way you get a good idea of what size is appropriate.
6. Here I am sitting at the computer reading Dogo messages and I feel something wet n slimey on the right leg of my jeans. First thought was that Kes had been in the water dish and had slobbered. The wee freaking disgusting brat of a dog had fished out a piece of sodding wet toilet paper that hadn't flushed properly from the toilet and deposited it as a "gift" against my leg. :o I am so grossed out right now :o  Remind me again why I have a dog?
7. I'm going to leave this thread now because its too contraversial for my liking, and just say as a final word that I see that trainers have different methods of training. I prefer to use compromise based training that isn't based on force with choke chains or have a heavy hand. To me thats old school training and I'm glad that I was brought up in a dog club that banned choke chains. peace out!
8. Angie, let me pose this question then. What is the sense in doing something to a dog if the dog isn't going to learn something by the process? The dog must learn so that he acknowledges that acertain behaviour is/isn't tolerated and when its acceptable to show that behaviour. Its like Jan throwing Kes straight out the door the other day because she was whining. she avoided the situation and didn't teach the dog anything but instead used assertive dominance which did not resolve the situation in hand.
9. From what I've wtached of Caesar on National Geographic, I see that he uses pack dynamics which I disagree with as many dogs aren't kept in large enough groups to create a pack. He uses dominant force and fear-based training so that the dog is forced into doing something, with no actual learning along the way. Personally I think hes over-rated.
10. Truly disgusting... I remember that Sabine. It was on the news a few years ago I think. :(
11. Kes is sleeping and is making wee whimpery noises and twitching her legs and her whiskers  everyone seems to be bored tonight and theres no action on this forum at all and seeing as its a dog forum i thought i would make a useful post contribution that relates to dogs and not farts or mint m and m's :D
12. PB you naughty pupper  Glad you got back safely to them Peggy :D
13. Now I know that Kes is smart, but this takes it to a whole new level. Kes has obviously watched us at the ice maker and has figured it out for herself :o Now the problem is that she won't stop  think I'll help myself to some ice
14. I would say Neo as well. Shes very beautiful :D
15. Turkey skin contains certain chemical compounds which dogs cannot digest. It accumulates in the dog causing acute pancreatitis and liver failure, in the similar way that grapes and raisin poisoning works. Therefore one serving can be deathly to your dog.
16. Remember folks when you are dishing out the turkey today to keep the skin away from the doggies! Turkey skin is toxic to dogs and cats!
17. Was she sleeping? If she was just sleeping it was likely just our equivalent of REM sleep. I don't think it would have been a focal seizure if she didn't yelp or wake up disorientated after.
18. Angie, call Consuelo because she has experience with heelers and she might have some ideas for rescue contacts
19. What other type of animal does your dog remind you of or act as? At night, Kes gets very alert when walking and her ears are pricked forward and she starts this sort of high stepping trot that reminds me of a hackney horse! you can tell when she does because her tags jump up n down more than her usual trot and she lifts her paws up very high  At other times she reminds me of a fox by the way she curls up and by the way she sometimes glances at you from a side-view. :D
20. I am so amazed at how well Kes has settled in! Shannon and I went last night to walmart and bought her a larger crate and shes as happy as a pig in mud. He thought this was brilliant going out "shopping for our daughter together" Shes accepted the rules of the house and respects the other 2 dogs and shes behaving herself really well. She slept with Shannon and I last night with her crate on shannon's side of the bed and there wasn't a peep out of her. Hes so sweet with her as well and says he has a 7 month old daughter  :D . I'm going to start taking loads of photos :D I'm so proud of her, I really am. Shes just a baby yet and to go through that plane journey and come into strange surroundings, I thought she would be a bit stressed for a few days, but shes brilliant! Peg and Angie: I can't wait for you to meet her when we meet up! :D Alright I'm done bragging on my girl now
21. cardboard is the best thing to use and just cut it like a crescent shape then make it into a cone and voila uno elizabethan collar!
22. thats a brill idea to do! Definitely better though I wonder if she will learn her lesson
23. I went tonight as planned to see Meg's owners before I go to Texas and I got to cuddle with my baby girl. :D She still remembers me and bounced on me and it was so good to cuddle her and stroke her and talk to her instead of reaching over the fence. I'm taking her for a wee walk tomorow and spending some time with her , so I'll be sure to get some photos. She has put on a lot of weight and isn't competing much now, but shes still got that wonderful personality that makes her Meg. I'm so happy :D
