I think my friend is going to adopt this little guy!
JackieMaya replied to JackieMaya's topic in Everything about dogs
Yeah, when you see a dog you're interested in adopting, you have to move on it or you'll lose out. I'm sure Ricky got a good home (I sure hope so). Jackie and Maya were each at their foster homes only 2 days before I took them home. I called on them as soon as I saw their pictures. And then Pooh Bear was in their program since he was 7 weeks old! I did wait a long time on Pooh Bear, but when he showed up on their site for like the 3rd or 4th time, I decided it was fate and he was meant to be mine! -

Well, my friend never called on Ricky, and someone else adopted him. You snooze, you lose. -
I use toilet plungers. They're cheap and stand up well inside, for a rainy day or in the winter. Buying them was quite embarassing though, imagine walking to the check out with 6 toilet plungers.
They were probably afraid to ask why you needed so many! LOL -

What I want to know is: is your cat's name "Dog"? LOL -
When Maya catches bugs (like June bugs), she eats them. When Jackie catches a June bug, she plays with it until it dies. She bats it around, and stomps on it with her paw. But she doesn't eat them. Pooh Bear is like Maya. He hunts 'em, catches 'em and eats 'em.

Oh, how exciting! I'm sure when she sees your home she'll realize that yours is the home for the little girl.

The neighbors behind me have a little yappy dog that obviously isn't considered a member of the family. They have a big fenced yard yet they tie the little yapper to the front of the house when they're in the back yard. And today I was out with my kids, who were being nice and quiet. They were having a barbeque and they tied the little yapper to the fence. So of course it was yapping non-stop. That got Maya going (even with her citronella collar on) which got Pooh Bear going. Then they untied the yapper and let it come over with them and then it was quiet. Then they tied it to another fence and it started yapping non-stop again! Then one of the guys went over and stood next to the dog and it stopped. So obviously they don't think they can control their huge 8 pound dog (if even that much) while they're eating. Sheesh! Have you ever heard of a little thing called training? And I just don't understand why they hardly ever let the little thing loose in the FENCED yard. There's no way in hell that it could jump the fence. When it's with them it's quiet, but when it's tied up it yaps contiunuously. I just don't get it.
I did something simular a few days ago! I was making grilled cheese and I HATE making food that doesn't go in the microwave  because when I want food, I want it NOW! And so I was getting rather impatient, my grilled cheese didn't seem to be cooking, but there was heat comming from there! So I knew the burner was working!! And then I realized something... I turned on the wrong burner
LOL! I've done that before too!

Too bad I can't have any more dogs cuz look at this guy!
JackieMaya replied to JackieMaya's topic in Everything about dogs
Yeah, he does kind of look like there could be Tibetan Mastiff in there. Whatever he is, I sure like him! Wouldn't that be cool to have him, Pooh Bear and Jackie together? Maya is kind of the odd ball colorwise. Oh well, I'm sure Bernie will get a great home. Too bad it won't be mine. -
I can't even believe I did this! Okay, so I put the big downstairs water bowl in the bathroom sink and turned on the water. Then I groomed Maya for a while and then I groomed Jackie. Then... I noticed that the water bowl wasn't in its usual spot. So I start going into the bathroom and notice that the sink has overflowed and most of the bathroom floor is flooded and the water is heading towards the lower basement. D'OH! So I laid down a whole bunch of beach towels to sop up as much of the water as I can. Well, at least the dogs have a nice full bowl of water!

I'm at my city limit of three dogs, so there isn't even a possibility of me getting any more dogs. but -- Isn't this guy just adorable? If I didn't have 3 dogs already, I would definitely go check him out. His name is Bernie, and they think he's a Berner mix. And of course he's at the same shelter I got all my kids from. He has the same dots above his eyes that Pooh Bear has. I'm so excited for you! Kat is beautiful and she really looks like a sweetie! You know that we're going to want lots of pictures and reports of how she's doing once you get her home! -

I would love to take my kids to one of the off-leash dog parks around here, but most of them say no more than 2 dogs per handler.

Stupid question... are earplugs safe?
JackieMaya replied to gooeydog's topic in Everything about dogs
I would be interested in the answer to this too, as I take my three kids to the lake about once a week or so. Jackie and Maya swim and splash a lot, so it would be great for them. Pooh Bear will put his head underwater sometimes, but he's mostly walking around in there. -

Okay folks, I need some help here.
JackieMaya replied to leahluvsherpups's topic in Everything about dogs
Cracker, my last Golden, was also deathly afraid of fireworks. He would throw up from being so nervous. We had to give him a tranquilizer on the fourth of July. He never got over it either. If you don't want to do tranquilizers, I would keep him in the house with the t.v. or radio on loud enough so that it covers up the fireworks sound. -
i don't know if i could put nass in a cage, she's never been in one and she's nearly six months old, i don't think that would make a difference with these people anyway but thankyou for the suggestion. i'm sure she will be okay outside, i guess i just get worried she will destroy potplants etc, then she won't be popular at all :( felicia
Maybe if you let her smoke the pot plant she'll be nice and quiet!
