I figured out a great way to give pills to dogs!

Maya has a slight yeast infection, so she's on doggie amoxycillen (can't remember the exact name), and she has to have two pills twice a day. As I have fairly long acrylic nails, it's kind of hard to put the pills far enough down so that she'll swallow them.

Today, I smeared creamy peanut butter on the bottom of her food bowl (like greasing a cake pan), sprinkled the crushed up pills over that, and put her food over that. She licked up every single bit! I PBed Jackie's food bowl too so she wouldn't feel left out. And what dog doesn't like peanut butter?

The horse I used to have just LOVED molasses, so if I had to give her pills, I would just put some molasses over the pill in her feed (didn't even have to crush the pill), and she would eat it all, and I would hear her slurping up every single bit.

Great idea!!!
....no nails for me, I'm not too girly like that. Only use a little makeup, and can't be bothered doing my nails. I would go to work in shorts or sweats if I could get away with it :lol:

Good idea. I've given Elle pills wrapped in cold cut meant
I used to have arcrylic on my nails since I was 15. I'm 24 and took off arcrylic and cut nails 4 months ago. After my nails grew out, they've never been healthier. Only manicures now 8)

I have never had a problem giving the kids pills< I just pretend that I am Eating it and they want it imediatly, after a while they get used to the taste and dont think twice about taking pills :lol:

Great idea!! When Zoey was on meds. we just put her pill in a peice of cheese and she inhaled it! not even chewing it! my neigbors Rott is on meds right now for alergies, and they just stuff the pills in hot dogs.. he swallows them hole!! ( then again he is 100+ pounds and only 9 months... :o )

I wrap tablets in boiled ham or poke them in cheese I could not put them in the food bowl because they often swop bowls half way though dinner :)

:wink: We give pills by gettinga hotdog sausage and putting the pill in it ,pushing it in the end of it .if that doesn't work we get a cheese slice and fold it up in that . I don't have any Nail there very short as i work with dogs they break with all the messy work you have to do lol.

Giving dogs pills has always been easy- our dogs have all been such gutses! Rinny got a bit fussy before the end because he had to take so many pills, and required a bit of extra coaxing to eat (I think he thought every bit of food was going to have a pill hidden in it :cry: ) but BK has only had his heartworm tablets which he doesn't even notice. :wink:
