deepseasnake Posted October 5, 2002 Author Posted October 5, 2002 and the best part, he is HUGE like strait out of Gath HUGE go to that site and look at size of the dog on the homepage, they dont even have words for the excitment I have right now  Quote
Hobbit Posted October 5, 2002 Posted October 5, 2002 This is not meant to offend anyone......but....I would HATE to see the pups he produces. This is purely from a genetics point of view. Large shoulders, trying to pass thru the birth canal.... :o . Let's just hope he produces small pups that have a good rate of gain -- AFTER -- they are borned! Quote
Smooshie Posted October 5, 2002 Posted October 5, 2002 I was just flipping thru the 2002 "Dogs U.S.A"annual and there's a breeder ad in the listings that has a pic of an APBT that size :o Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted October 5, 2002 Posted October 5, 2002 WHOA!!!!!!That is ONE HUGE BULLDOG!!!!Look at the size of those shoulders compared with the hips!! Quote
deepseasnake Posted October 5, 2002 Author Posted October 5, 2002 I think I read somewhere that all bulldogs give birth through C section but I dont know, it would make sense though, god knows I wouldnt want to see the animal that could pass that thing :o Quote

Guest roo Posted October 5, 2002 Posted October 5, 2002 I can see no breed type at all here  They all look like some sort of cross breed :o The front on that dog was awful  Roo Quote
deepseasnake Posted October 5, 2002 Author Posted October 5, 2002 Roo I dont understand, isnt "Hermes Olde Bulldogge" a type? Quote
ILoveLabs Posted October 5, 2002 Posted October 5, 2002 WOW-what a great looking dog:) look at the size of the chest- and the shoulders- and his head is just gorgeous! He is just beautiful:) Thanks for sharing Quote
corgilady Posted October 5, 2002 Posted October 5, 2002 He is really cool but he is on a chain  Quote
Bensam Posted October 6, 2002 Posted October 6, 2002 Visited the Hermes site and have mixed feelings. I'm afraid they aren't what I would be looking for, but each to their own. While I do like big dogs, and always had them when I was younger, I do like some elegance, not just brute strength. Must go along with Roo, the front on 'Chester' is, I hope, the way he is standing and not the way he is built (sorry Deep), that front would really worry me. Roo, are there any of these type in UK, or just the plain old Bulldogs as we have here? And the 'elephant' chains are a worry too. Quote
deepseasnake Posted October 6, 2002 Author Posted October 6, 2002 thats fine, I love that look and I think this dog is PERFECT! :D Quote
Rowie-the-Pooh Posted October 6, 2002 Posted October 6, 2002
This is not meant to offend anyone......but....I would HATE to see the pups he produces. "WORLDS LARGEST BULLDOGGESS" Deep, sad to say, these breeders are breeding for quantity, not quality AND they r breedi'n for the "HUGNESS" NOT the "GOODNESS"... you know what I mean? No offence, that's my opinon... Hey, if you WANT a Bulldogge...go get one.....it's UR life... :D ( But not from that breeder  ). Quote
Rowie-the-Pooh Posted October 6, 2002 Posted October 6, 2002 Oh, forgot to add... They keep talki about the WIEGHT in the pix? Hey, what's the deal? I'm thinki'n PUPPY MILLERS?? :-? OR dog fighters?! Hey, no offence, just what I think.... :-? Quote
Hobbit Posted October 6, 2002 Posted October 6, 2002
I think I read somewhere that all bulldogs give birth through C section but I dont know, it would make sense though, god knows I wouldnt want to see the animal that could pass that thing :o
Yeah, it's kinda like.....you don't want to see the guy that SCARED DON KING!! Quote
deepseasnake Posted October 6, 2002 Author Posted October 6, 2002 well for all ye of little faith, I did some looking around and found info on the 2 lines, Hermes and Leavitt. I found this page, http://www.oldebulldogge.com/con-frame.htm which was apparently handed the torch by David Leavitt himself I would incourage all to go there as it is a very interesting read. Are they perfect? probabaly not but then again the only dog I have ever heard of that claims to be perfect is the "Native American Dog/American Indian Dog" or to quote this site
currently no genetic faults, guaranteed sound and healthy
sounds like a bunch of hog wash to me but hey whatever. So anyway back to Leavitt's dogs. They have been bred to fix the massive breathing problems of the current bulldogs and have done so succefully or to quote David Leavitt,
My dogs can now breath. They will never be like hounds, able to run for miles during the hottest weather of summer, but they Quote
deepseasnake Posted October 6, 2002 Author Posted October 6, 2002 okay and Rowie,
They keep talki about the WIEGHT in the pix? Hey, what's the deal? I'm thinki'n PUPPY MILLERS?? OR dog fighters?!
just because one is concerned with weight does not mean "puppy miller" or "Dog fighter" it just so happens the very first thing I look at in a dog is weight, it is the most important thing to me (obviously after health). I only love HUGE dogs, thats it! I will like your ("your" in the metaphorical sense) dog if its small I'll enjoy petting it and playing with him for a minute but I could NEVER own a dog that weighs less than 70 pounds and to be honest its more like 110. I'm not really going to adress your other post as, you are entitled to your opinion, but briefly, I really dont see where you are coming up with your "quanity" statement, the supprising lack of any information on that site would suggest, one stay unbias and neutral until further research is done, but hey if that was your impression so be it Quote
Guest roo Posted October 7, 2002 Posted October 7, 2002 Deep, I have looked at both sites now :-? By breed type i mean that they is no stamp to the first ones line, no continuity, no true type there, they all look so very different. My husband is writing a bit on his interpretation of breed type and i will post it later. I have looked at the official breed standard posted on the second site :o it seems that anything goes really :x What i will do later for you is find some sites for you to look at with history, pictures etc. and will make a more in depth post later(i have to go to work) Roo  Quote
deepseasnake Posted October 7, 2002 Author Posted October 7, 2002 thank you roo, Im very interested in what you have to say :D Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted October 7, 2002 Posted October 7, 2002 :fist: Actually the hermes line is quit large but very athletic and Healthy. The hermes lines have been used succsefully in Hog hunting, PP and weight pull. The breed is consistant as any working breed meaning since they are bred for perfomance and not a show ring looks will vary slightly. To any of my known recolections they have never been bred to be a fighter. Simply a godd 60pd pit would whip its butt. The Leavitt line is not as heavy and is still a hard working bulldog! There are many other lines of Olde Bulldogs, Victrian, Olde Boston Bulldogge, Alubull and many more they are simply alternative bulldogs bred for health not for wrinkles. Dont judge them by there looks but dig deeper and you will find that theese are some very fine Bulldog's. I personally like the Little Alubull's they are quit small compared to the Hermes and Leavitt lines but are as healthy of bulldog as one could want. Quote
deepseasnake Posted October 7, 2002 Author Posted October 7, 2002 cool Im glad someone besides my self likes them! guest, could you describe your expierenece with these guys? I'd like to know where you are coming from. It sounds like you may know some stuff that we do not :D Quote
Guest Anonymous Posted October 7, 2002 Posted October 7, 2002 I have met and competed against many of of theese dogs. I have a few freinds who breed them (www.southernbulldogs.com) there is just one. I have never owned any(olde's) but have studied many types of alternative Bulldogs for many moons. here is a place to learn about the Alubull and alot of bulldog history (this is a freind of mine also) there is some interesting stuff there. Witch even line you decide on make sure you do alot of Homework and make sure you are not just getting an English cross most of the reputable breeders have at least 2 generations on their yard. Enoy the sites I just gave you and if I can help out anymore just say the word. P.S. Howie Mandell blew out his sinus cavitys blowing up latex gloves with his nose! lol Quote
