1. I'm going to give it a try. Our innova dealer (our boarding kennel) said I was the second one to ask for it in two days. I've had him on the green bag and he likes it OK ... hoping this is something he'll enjoy even more.

FLEAS!!

EEEEEK I saw one on Buddy 2 days ago and then one jumped on me when I was on the couch. Luckily there was this thread to get helpful ideas. Just got off the phone with my vet and we are going to do Frontline on Buddy and kitty Gladysse. He said it should take care of anything in the house too but I am going on a cleaning frenzy anyway.
3. Yeah thanks Matty, CC and all! Just from my experience "mutt" dogs AND "mutt" horses have been the best performers and best behaved. Maybe not the most "beautiful" as far as I have been conditioned to look at them (example those pure Arabians running still put me in awe) but which one woulld you rather work with, I mean go herd cattle with etc... the "mutt!" every time.
4. That reminds me why there is beauty in purebreds ... now remembering even when watching Crufts or Westminster the announcers are always talking about the original working intention of the breed. One wonderful thing we have near me here is the Meeker Classic - sheepherding trial. Haven't made it yet but as I understand any breed or mix is welcome to participate, they're judged based on their performance herding sheep ... maybe more things like that are in order. Agility is beautiful in that way too... Hurray for "trials!"
5.
In other words purebred dogs are not natural and its no wonder we are killing our dogs slowly
WOW that is interesting.... I have often had that thought as it relates to dogs and horses ... not sure if I would have had the guts to say it here first but I thank you for saying it. Look at the American Mustang ... the few remeing wild herds have been mixing it up as Nature intended for over 300 years and now they are the hardiest horses you could imagine. An Arabian my friend bought from Idaho had accidentally mixed with a wild stallion and this filly (paint by the way) was the most independant foal we have ever seen, running all out from her first day, eating hay and grass from her third day, weaning way earlier (almost voluntarily) compared to the purebeds...
6. Thanks B Bop, by the way if you're interested I edited the post to include a link to Lily's pictures (her original Petfinder listing). Sounds like this dog may be costiong this woman a HUGE fortune! Still if it were me ... no matter what amount of money (and despite the fact that I have none to speak of) I would just be happy to have my dog back unhurt, and hoping that the man who rolled his vehicle wasn't hurt either!
7. This was inspired by DogLover's thread "Faith" ... sorry it's a bit long OK Court knows this story because before I got Buddy I fell in love with a Foxhound named Lily at the pound ... to make a long story short she wouldn't have worked out for us but nonetheless I was in love with her and have been watching Petfinder almost every day to see if she'd get adopted ... well waaay too long passed and she still wasn't adopted, then about 2 days ago I checked and she was listed as adopted in the Happy Tails section! Here's the link to her original listing, I hope it works, I took the pictures and e-mailed them to the shelter because the one they had was awful) http://www.petfinder.com/pet.cgi?action=2&pet=3301421&adTarget=468petsgeneral&SessionID=416c428248eb2901-app2&display=&preview=1&row=25&tmpl=petlistx.html&stat= I wanted details so I went down there surreptitiously to buy one of their 2005 calendars and got a little better scoop on Lily (a college age girl who was very into dogs and seemingly knowledgable ... and when Lily left everyone who worked there cried happy tears because she was really close to being PTS) ... so there's a happy story for you all ... (By the way Foxhound Rescue, who weren't able to help, told me Lily was probebly a Treeing Walker Coonhound not Foxhound but...whatever...) ANYWAY as I was waiting in line there was a lady picking up her dog (a Sharpei?) who had been picked up running loose, and as soon as she signed saying it was her dog they issued her a citation to appear in court ... the dog had been loose on the highway and caused a man to swerve and roll his vehicle (!) ... they told the lady she may be responsible for medical and vehicle repair costs. She looked pretty resigned about the whole thing but I would have been freaked, not saying she didn't deserve it ... But I was wondering on a technical point if this would all have to come out of her own pocket, or if her auto insurance would cover it, or homeowners insurance or what?! Anyway just a weird story, any comments are welcome ... In the end the calendars were late from the printer so I have to go back...
8. Carson's traingin will help tons I am sure! Kepp us posted. (and if you want to go and allow yourself a good cry over Mocha)
9. Wow there are some beautiful posts here. I don't know exactly what you went through with your Lily but of course you did the right thing ... read what the others have posted, let it out (cry!) and then let time do its healing.
10. Oh I'm sorry you feel alone in this, here is a ((( big hug ))) from someone who understands recent loss of a beloved dog. Are you happy with Carson though? Maybe it is taking some time... Remember that Mocha wants you to be happy, she knows you'll always love her best even when you love another dog too.
11. I would have guessed pure German Shepherd. Is that possible? Maybe there is something pure black and tan like Doberman too.
12. I'll try it! I was thinking about switching to a natural treat. I'll have to use olive oil (it's all we have) and will subtitute the jiffy with straight corn meal because Buddy doesn't need the sugar calories. Thanks and I'll let you know how it goes! Hmmm maybe kitty Gladysse will like them too, cut in smaller bits ...
13. A guest of my next door neighbor's was walking a very pretty little dog yesterday ... (Buddy fell in love with her and the feeling seemed mutual!) I asked is that a Bichon frise and he said yes ... she was just so adorable, I was wondering if there are any owners of them out there and if so could you tell me how to pronounce Bichon frise? And are they always so sweet and non yappy?
14. Oh yeah, I was thrilled to discover this too ... the hardware stores and sporting goods stores don't usually mind you taking dogs in either. I see them in Home Depot pretty often. I used to take my girl but haven't taken Buddy yet. He got excited and lifted his leg onece in Petco but that was after playing sniffy-butt with two female Golden mixes.
15. Glad you had such a good experience with Laurel! I always take Buddy in Petco and don't buy anything (it's right next to my natural food store). They don't seem to mind! Last time a little girl sat down on the floor with buddy and hugged him while he gave her a face bath ... The girl's mom didn't mind luckily 8)
16. B Bop's name is Jarrod? Is he the Subway guy? Jarrod are you that Subway guy?? :D :D :D just trying to lighten things up a little
17.   Did you write that?! Very funny!! And true...
18.
I never mutter when I speak, so no that wouldn't make sense to me. I have a voice and if I am going to bother saying something, it will be heard, or read in this case. I also never said anything the way she interacts with her dogs or if she should love them and I don't understand why you would even mention something like that.
1. In my book muttering when you're pi**ed at someone instead of taking their head off is called tact. 2. I never said that either.
19. I still can't figure out if his breed maligning is just satire and/or an attention getting ploy. In a way it's good because he is drawing in the BSL supporters, and then telling them why they are wrong!
20. Yeah, that's about what I'm saying. If one of his songs comes on the radio and I'm bopping my head I'm not going to beat myself up over it, but I won't be buying his CDs because it's as you said, putting money toward a vile thing.
21. I see use in the small font size as "muttering under one's breath." Like when you're trying to be civil but you just have to say something ... I don't see that as being cowardly or anything, just a text version of a normal communication technique.
22. It sounds like a new vet is in order. Dispensing medicine meant for another dog is really scary! I understand that mistakes happen but it sounds like they have too many strikes against them. Also Peanut got sick while he was there ... ? That seems suspicious.
23. It's OK if you like DMX's music ... Music is art, a reflection of culture that is sometimes ugly. And just because you get famous with your art doesn't mean you have to suddenly be this perfect role model ... on the other hand when you hear of an artist being violent, smoking crack, etc. etc. there comes s point when maybe you don't want to line their pockets.
24. OK kids, quiet down and listen to what this fine gentleman has to say  I can hear the New Jersey judge's lips smooching DMX's butt all the way out here in Colorado. Excuse me, gotta go puke now.
25. Yeah, you've got a point there for sure! At first I was thinking this show is based on real cases but it isn't is it, it's all script writers? If so then shame on them, you are right.
