Come one, come all! Pet adoptions in Los Angeles this Sat/Su
My favorite is the pitbull rescue kissing booth. For $1 you get a big sloppy kiss from pits they are trying to adopt out. I usually end up going home broke after I visit the booth.
Yeah I thought you'd get to kiss drjeff too! Oh well, a kiss from a pittie is even better! Of course I can't say that for sure... -
Thanks DO! I take that as a very good omen! Do you remember how long it had been since "your" Buddy's immiticide treatment?

 nadoosh, check the thread, the puppies are better now! Fine advice though

Well tomorrow Bud goes in at 8 am to get re-tested for heartworm. There is a chance it will still read positive because antigens can remain for 4-plus months after the first treatment, and it has only been 2 months, but our vet thinks it will be negative. However even if it's positive I will get to start him on heartguard and if vet gives the OK we can finally start our exercise program. I have had Buddy - WOW exactly 2 months to the day today! Got his HW diagnosis the day after I got him, first treatment the next day ... I just want it to be behind us so we can romp and play and not be worried. I am taking off to Petco to get him a bath / trim / blow dry. Have never allowed myself (or dog) this luxury before ... it has always been in my bathtub (or outside in warm weather) and my somewhat klutzy nail trimming. I just want to spoil him silly right now. Anyway, please send good thoughts to Buddy for a clean bill of health tomorrow.
Good dog!!!! although wouldnt the operators have been informed that that phone number was a "potential" problem number so that the response would of been to one bark instead of several minutes of puzzled discussion befpre a dispatch was made???
I don't think 911 is set up to have details on certain numbers but I could be wrong ... the way I understand it is, thay know where just about any call is coming from, so even if there was no barking emergency responders would be sent to her house.

I caught the show last night! It was amazing and the dogs really loved it! Yesh the builders looked like whining wankers but I think the producers work to make it look that way.

WOW amber, that is one great article. It says it ALL and so clearly! I think they'll publish yours too BK ... this makes me hopeful. The papers like anything well written even if they don'e agree with it.

I want to see it ... I want to see it!!! Waaaah ... (stamps foot and gets sent to room...)
-
That's a great reply! Let us know if it gets published ... I bet it will (Hope so anyway!!)

   But who can argue with presents for sweethearts?

That is very sweet/sad, it put a tear in my eye. Everyone should read it.

I knew that ... just wanted to make sure, thanks.

That was a joy to read. You are lucky and so are your students!!!

This seems like an attempt to reinforce one of the darker sides of Christianity, in my opinion ... that which says humans are to have dominion over animals and that animals have no soul and can not go to heaven.
No I think this is a case of people who are too into psychobabble and should just tell people to get over it. Christianity hasn't a thing to do with it. Beside we do have dominion over animals they certainly don't control us. You don't have control over your dog.
I totally respect your disagreeing opinion but either that last line was meant to be the other way around, or there should have been a question mark after it, or it was an insult. Just curious which. Of course I have control over my dog!

I have never heard of needing a license to do any of it ... I think you can just breed dogs as you can *ahem* "breed" to make children, and that goes for anywhere in the U.S. I wish there were some regulations! Would love to hear if anyone knows otherwise.
Well I have a Lab/Rott and I've got to say she's the nicest, most passive, loving, dog. She is a little hyper right now when she meets people, that tail and hynie wag and wiggle a million miles a minute !!! But she's only 2 1/2yr. so at least she's glad to see everyone.......... She's the sweetest thing on 4 legs.......
Yeah, well I'm totally against breeding mixes intentionally, they sure can be sweet and healthy dogs compared to many "purebreds".

YAAAAY!! Your flyers worked!
Congratulations!!!!! For us dummies like me can you please explain the difference between the Groenendaels and the Tervurens and what you mean by sheepdogs and Tervlettes. Thanks
I agree, please educate us dummies. And congratulations!!!

I agree with everything that has been said here. I would like to add that even without the bad breeding problems this breed has been misrepresented to begin with as a "family dog" (yeah, they are the perfect family dog ... when they are 6 or 7 and retired from a career of hunting / working as they were bred to do!) My friend got a black lab puppy because he thought they were the ideal family dog ... I had an uneasy feeling at the time but didn't really know any facts and didn't say anything ... well I think he actually lucked out because there's no viciousness, but it sure wasn't what he expected ... this girl is still extremely hyper in her 4th year and requires miles of walking every day. At least my friend sees the silver lining ... it has been a great exercise program for him! Now my neighbor has a gorgeous yellow lab ... not sure of her breeding but she has been given extensive obedience nd field training and, as my neighbor hunts she actually gets to do the job she was bred for ... what a beautiful, well mannered and happy lab she is!

Oh I'm so sorry, this happened to me once (a dog lost with no tags) and it turned out fine but not till after a whole night crying and worrying (she was at the Humane Society in the morning...) Best of luck, Tequila will be OK and don't be mad at yourself ... it could happen to anyone ... just concentrate on getting her back.
