1. Thanks everybody! Safety first, that is SO true. In this case I could have parked safely about a quarter mile up, then walked back toward the dog. That is what I wish I'd have tried. It's not an interstate but it is a 4 lane highway where there was a blind curve. At the very least I should have thought to call her immediately yesterday and told her where I saw Lucy, when, and the direction she was headed. That didn't occur to me 'till this morning.
2. Two days ago I saw a dog running by the side of the road. Normally I would have stopped but I had a multitude of excuses: no safe place to pull over, afraid I would scare it into traffic, running late, can't help them all. Now I will never, ever again NOT stop to help a stray as this is what happened: Yesterday I was at the boarding kennel picking up my cat food order and a young woman came in, left something with the owner and as she walked out I noticed she was in tears. Turns out she had left a picture of (you guessed it) the dog I had seen day before, Lucy, missing for two days. Where I had seen Lucy was right near the woman's house. Filled with shame and regret, I went searching for over 2 hours, no luck. Last night I had vivid dreams of looking for, and finding Lucy. This morning it occurred to me to call. I spoke into the machine, hi my name is Tonya, I did not find your dog but I saw you at the bording kennel and wondered if you had found her... She picked up and said they found her last night! Hunkered down in some tall grass right near their house. She was fine. After we hung up I cried with relief and sat down to tell you all this story. I am SO ashamed that I did not make more of an effort to help Lucy when I saw her 2 days ago. Thank DOG she is OK. I have learned a very important lesson ... Because I care too much for dogs (and there are too few of us who do) ... I am going to do everything in my ability to help all strays I see from now on, no excuses.
3.
man, how old are you? I havent heard the term "fuzz" since I was in high school, and that was decades ago....
 Now who is old enough to remember "pigs" ?!
4. LOVE that story! Thanks for my laugh of the afternoon.
5.   ADOPTING a Future Husband?! You gals are SICK! (Or BRILLIANT :evilbat: )
6. I totally sympathize. My nickname for my dad's wife is Imagit, because she just lives for buying things and every time I talk to her it's just imagit this, imagit that. YOU ARE SOOOO BEAUTIFUL!
7.  Of course this makes sense ... think about chasing the hounds for hundreds of miles a week! Definitely something that was bred in on purpose. I feel for you having to do them though! (Remember when I was thinking about adopting a FH court?!) That was one of my first times here. Lily ended up with a better suited home and I got Buddy! Your advice was superb  )
8.
At our OB class there was a bunny that they'd bring in and you'd have to get you're dog to sit/down/stay and stuff. Carse didnt do too well on that part. :o Talk about tunnel vision..
That is EXACTLY the kind of training we need!! Of course we ll be there for 10 hours getting it right
9. It can only help if not solve the problem! Our nemesis is bunnies. Same thing, really good otherwise but when he sees the rabbit FORGET it! Also he saw a horned lizard this weekend, and touched his nose to it before hubby told him "Off" ... then he seemed to listen, but when we took off on bikes again he had to go sniff it one more time. Luckily I think the lizard's armor prevented bud from eating it :o
10. I LOVE those! The dogs seem to be lovin it too (the 'clydesdale" anyway) Thw Nascar one was a bit over the top
11.
I got them both right on the first try. Shoot, I better of.
Well on the adult game my first choice was either the correct one or the "Black Mouthed Curr" ... I picked it because it looked like the one in Hmmmm's avatar!
The puppy one does look a lot like my little guy in my avatar. That is actually my favorite coloring. Ive been known to favor em jsut a little bit.
It is a beautiful color! I'll have to go back and look at the puppy one.
12.
Wow, and you call yourselves pittie people.... It took me one try for each game.
Where's the stuck up nose in the air emoticon???
13.
About the door thing, I make my girls sit/stay EVERY time we go outside. I think it is important that my dogs don't just shoot out the door. Cori will smash her face into the door and try to push it open and zoom outside. So every time she sits and waits until I say it's ok. I like that she's not allowed to go out without permission for a couple of reasons. 1) It's safer in case someone leaves a door open, my dogs don't just fly out! and 2) When I have people over and we are going outside my dogs don't just run people down. They know they have to wait their turn. But, this isn't something that NEEDS to be done. It's something that I feel is important. :P
I do the door thing with Buddy every time, just like you. I let him go out first some of the time, but ONLY after I say OK. The exception is the sliding glass door leading into the fenced back yard. When open he can go in/out as he pleases here. Also I make him wait on command before getting in or out of the car. One time I forgot to make him wait and he jumped up and hit his head on the truck door as I was opening it :o luckily he was OK.
14. Undeniably hot body but that face wearing waaaay more makeup than I ever have, creeps me out. Of course when I was young I was "in love" with Prince, talk about too much makeup! PETA still sucks. Like NARAL. I think they bothe secretly work for the "other side" to make real animal and pro choice activists look like jerks by association.
15. Well on the adult game my first choice was either the correct one or the "Black Mouthed Curr" ... I picked it because it looked like the one in Hmmmm's avatar!
16. The puppy game was much harder for me, 6 tries
17. This is fantastic! You guys have to try the "find the pit bull" game. I got it on the second try.
18. Actually you can stuff it all into netting to make a ball, annd then hang this from a tree in early spring. The birds will take it to line their nests.
19. Yeah I'm not saying no dog on the bed ever either, but since I saw bad behavior increase at the same time bed time increased I have made this rule to fit my own situation.
20. tx said she was confused by other posts saying napping with dogs is a good way to bond. I have a solution for everyone as I have just installed this rule in our house: Occasional napping with the dog will only take place on the floor, he will not be invited up onto the bed or couch. As we have been doing up on the bed more lately, Buddy has gotten more pushy with us ... trying to herd and bark when he sees us getting ready to go out, giving me a warning signal when I hit a tender spot in grooming, and forgetting to wait as we go through doors.
21. No more advice to offer, you have heard it from the best! NILF is the way to go.
22.

p.s. Thanks everyone. I looked for the canned pumpkin for Zoe before and I can't get it here in any supermarket unfortunately.
Kat you don't need to use canned pumpkin, just use the good old real stuff. I think the guys in the US tend to use canned becasue the unprocessed stuff is hard to come by..
YEP! Only in the fall and winter can we get fresh pumpkin, or any other winter squash!
23. Bud, B, Bud Man, Boobaloo, Boobie
24. I see border collie! She is gorgeous. The shelter could have been wrong about the Shi Tzu part, how can they tell how the littermates turned out at that young? Also I believe it is possible for a litter to have more than one dad.
25. Maybe you need to give the "drop it" command each time, if that's how she was taught? Maybe somehow she didn't see it as fair if you didn't tell her the "right" way? Just a guess.
