NO no one is saying military people (or anyone who moves around) should not have dogs. I'm just saying DAL should not have gotten another dog tight now. It's not that she's moving, it's that she is moving with no plan and three other animals already. The thing is DAL has displayed this kid in a candy store thing. OOOh it's PRETTY! I MUST have it .... NOW!!!

The pictures of Moose have been removed. I'm sensing a purchase from a pet store. Instant gratification. PLEASE tell me otherwise DAL ... you have not said where Moose came from!
I've been sitting here thinking about this issue and I seriously think that you should consider counseling DAL. I'm not trying to be insulting. I think there is something missing in your life and you're trying to find it by moving, or buying dogs, or buying cats, or leaving your husband....or whatever. You're motivated by chaos. Your life is chaotic. Please consider my suggestion. Perhaps you should stay where you are and stabilize your life.
That's right on Mei-Mei. I think there are psychological issues here and you may have nailed them. Anyway a prefessional could be a big help. And I don't mean it in a mean way at all! How bout it DAL?

Good advice on practicing. I am making the practice sessions too long! One thing on the weekdays I have to combine practice with walkies so what I sould probably do is take that the 40 minute walks and break them into 2 work sessions and 2 play sessions. One thing he is doing that makes me so proud ... we have an enclosed football field and when no one's around I let him loose sometimes. Well I just took a chance and gave him the "down" command at about 30 feet away and he did it! Now we have done this severl times. Thanks again DO and everyone! I'll let you know how it goes on Sunday.

You know folks this is pom number three. Before Stryker there was Boonie who came from this "rescue" also as I recall, but so full of heartworms he had to be put down.

Free is Freeee! The way it should beeee! Congratulations! Too bad about the infection though.

DAL, if it feels like we are a mad horde going after you with torches ... it's just that I for one did expect better. I do hope you figure things out. I know there are many people here who care about you!!!

I have been wondering if there are some maturity issues here, or adult ADD or something like that. I started to really wonder DAL when you were all about having to have this $300 purse or something like that ... you just dont seem to really know WHAT you want and these dogs get caught in the middle. Also your story changes pretty often, like Zoey not being welcome at your folks and all of a sudden it's OK... Finally, NO the dogs won't be OK being turned out in the yard, shade or no shade. This is Arizona. Checked the weather channel lately?!

Thnk you for all of the great advive DO! I am taking it to heart. I just noticed your posts! (?) It is going to be at the evaluator's house. There is no run through. YOU are my support person (how 'bout that?!) Not nervous yet, just practicing a lot ... I hope not so much that I'm burning him out. Anyway thanks you are an
This is a common ebay scam. Here is how it usually goes: Buyer from Nigeria buys something expensive from you. They send you cashiers check for maybe triple the amount of the item. They then send you an email saying "Sorry I realized I overpaid alot, and I need to get refunded for the amount I overpaid immediately. I have a dying _______ (insert whoever here) and I need to pay for medical bills. They are basically hoping that you refund the difference before your bank realizes its a phony check. Word to the wise: Always wait 10 days before shipping something paid for with a cashiers check or money order. Or, if its a shifty country like Nigeria (not saying the people there are shifty, just the ones who use ebay) make them wire you money via Western Union.
Good advice. I would also, in addition to waiting 10 days get it in writing from my bank that they verify that a check is authentic.

I wouldn't mind having my cat's ear nicked. It would be a badge of honor. Agreed too that cats should have some access to the outdoors. With our elderly Gladysse it is easy, I just let her ont on the enclosed patio (with tons of potted plants including wheat grass) or I let her out in the yard and just watch her for a little while. She has been such a joy as she's gotten older. When she leaves us :( I want to adopt two older ones.

I wanted to tell you all this in light of the recent poster asking for money. This was a different scam and it stung a local aquaintance. In this case it was over purchase of a horse but could easily happen with a dog. A man claiming to be from U.K. started emailing expressing interest in purchasing a horse. He sent cashier's check for large amount promising to pay the rest for overseas shipping later. The seller (our local lady) deposited the check and funds became available, so she thought the check was good. Then this man called and said his father had become ill and he couldn't afford the horse. He asked for a refund to be wired. She did so. A couple days later (and over five days from beleiving the check had cleared) the bank called and said the check was a fake. She was liable for it all. Warning that 1. there are people out there doing this 2. even a cashiers check can be fake, and 3. even after funds are available it doesn't mean the check is good. IMO the bank also made a mistake not catching it sooner.

Voted. Ha I'm not the only one to call him a girl!

So glad no one seems to have gotten it! Now, I have been meaning to bring this up. Years ago when I lived in Estes Park a giardia vaccine was offered and recommended by the vet. Now in Grand Junction, I have asked for it but have been told two different things by two diff. vets. One: we don't offer it here because the cance of getting it is so low. Two: (from current vet I trust more) it is no longer being used because the risk of side effect is high compared to the limited protection it may offer. Anyone else had a similar story?

WOW look at that little muzzle. How adorable! Your friend is pure class. She fosters a child and has the gorgeous piano.... have her join in pleeze pleeze! Edited for typoids :drinking:
I agree that my friend is pure class, but the girl in the picture is Red's foster mom's daughter, not my friend's foster daughter. LOL! And the gorgeous piano was at Red's foster home. The whole house was absolutely gorgeous! And I agree about having her join Dogo. I'll work on that one. She's coming down to the Dogo get together in September with me too! So I guess she'll just HAVE to join! :)
Ooops! Yes she is still PURE class. And I am still an idiot. -
