Didn't mean to worry you more! I know dookie, sorry. It will be OK...

I don't know about ringworm but when you said circle I immediately thought of lyme disease, because that's the mark my boss had right before she came down with it. But I don't even know if dogs can get lyme disease.

Gangsta... pit bull who needs rescue
BuddysMom replied to __crazy_canine__'s topic in Amstaffs & Pit Bulls
BM Id do anything to save that dog so I dont care what would happen to me,
Well WE care what would happen to you! But the main point is, as others have said it sounds non-do-able on so many levels. Also, if this dog disappears they will just buy another poor pup to torture. If it were the AC in my town I would get them involved because they would care about the neglect / abuse / drug dealing etc. And they would put the creeps behind bars. Also they would not automatically PTS although admittedly it would be likely; they do a pass / fail agressiveness test but they are not biased, they regularly adopt out pitties but they recently PTS a chihuaua (sp?) who didn't pass. -

My gut feeling is NO you shouldn't ... You'd be fighting crime with crime and possibly be making some very dangerous enemies. I do applaud you for wanting to help though. If a dog has visible marks from fighting will animal control not get involved? -
Im more and more disappointed all the time
BuddysMom replied to __crazy_canine__'s topic in Everything about dogs
I don't think anyone here is directing malice at responsible breeders, or at people who buy purebreds from responsible breeders. It's just something I could never do. When there is room for another dog in my life it is the greatest joy imaginable to go to the shelter and adopt. To me, buying a puppy, no matter how incredibly responsibly bred, wouldn't even come close in terms of my satisfaction OR the quality of dog I could get. Now other people feel differently, and that is fine. :) -
You can attach the Ruffrider with a caribiner if there's something else (other than a seatbelt) to anchor to.

LOL at the poo bag. Nice job!

I agree with CC 100 percent. Even responsible breeding is starting to break my heart. I always think of the poor shelter dogs that would make such incredible companions and may never get a chance. I do think less breeding would mean more adopting. At the least it would mean fewer dogs in shelters. I also wish there were more shows for obedience open to all breeds and mutts, especiall ones that would get the national and international recognition like crufts and westminster. -

Dog dies from being muzzled with duct tape
BuddysMom replied to Aroura's topic in Everything about dogs
#667 ... let's all sign! I know it's a bit annoying, you have to give personal info but this is an upstanding org. I know they respect people's privacy. -
I'm lucky the kids in my town are for the most part raised right, and ALWAYS ask if they can pet Buddy. I always thank them for asking and reinforce it ("it's so important that you always ask, good job!") then I say yes (or once, yes but you have to put the stick down first :) ) and I teach them to approach gently and under the chin. Parents seem to appreciate all this.

Don't know what to say about the barking but here is the best travel restraint / safety belt http://www.ruffrider.com/ We recently took Buddy on a weeklong road trip and it was a lot of work, but worth it.

Dear All, Thanks to K, I have a new username. I really didn't like desertlady from the start and "she" got more annoying as time went on ... http://forum.dogomania.com/viewtopic.php?t=21273 As I said I want to be nicer here too (we'll see how that works out, hahaaa) ... but mainly I just thought desertlady was prissy sounding and a misnomer because "I am no lady." BuddysMom, however, definitely describes me. By the way my real name is Tonya. OK anough about me, back to our regular broadcast ...

Looks great but help me out with a prior link or something, please. I have been out of the loop traveling!

I'll vote for Cinco! Hey on the current one I just noticed that "our" Eli is there. Voting for Elijah now too!

Thanx guys. The next available class atour out level is not till July 29 so any insight till then I would appreciate! (edited to add about Buddy) He is an extremely high "pack" drive dog if following the CGC book evaluation. Not sure if he would be motivated by treats or not. He will not chase or retreive anything. Just a love machine :P We haev a coulpe of jokes here about Bud doing agility. One is that he will get stuck in the tube because of fat. Two is he will be the "shark" and we can win miney because he looks so slow yet he really is fast!
-
Hey DO and everyone in agility, please help! Do these guys look OK? http://home.bresnan.net/~pnp-agility/index.htm They are only 10 miles from us and I really want to try this with Buddy but wanted to run it by y'all at first. I have seen these clickers in the pet store but no idea if/how/when to use.

I can't believe it, this is awful...

This guy was CHARGED with animal crueltly and he deserves it. If this went down as reported he is a violent freak. End of story. -
Jackie and Maya actually have ribs!
BuddysMom replied to JackieMaya's topic in Everything about dogs
Fantastic. I am going through the same thing with myself and Buddy. Buddy has lost 2 pounds, me none, but we are having lots of fun with the extra hikes etc. -
Happy to see you back. Hey glad it's not NORMA coming back!
You could walk out in front of a bus tomorrow and instead you're wasting your time arguing with people you don't know..
 Sorry Kat but that came out kind of funny. Given the choice I'd take option #2
Desertlady- I've always trained on a 30+ft. leash. I put my dog in a sit stay and walk all the way to the end of the leash and yell in a happy voice "Zebra come!". If he dosn't come right away I give a little pull on the leah and that will bring him running towards me, I treat and paise and do it all over again. After he has mastered the sit-stay-come I will randomly walk around with him on the long leash and yell "Zebra come!", so he dosn't think that he only has to come when put in a sit-stay. Then you can try this with out the leash at an empty dog park or something and see how he does, gradually adding more distractions to your training. This will work 99% of the time, for the other 1% that it dosn't work I yell "car ride" and that will always get him to come. Also they have leashes in 50 and 100Ft I think so you could always try a real long leash and see how that works. Hope this helps. :D
Thanks Starfox. I have been doing this only with a 10 foot leash so I will increase that at least 3-fold and get to work! :P
Since she didn't respond to you calling her you probabaly need to start from square one with recall training, it really is the most important thing a dog should know and it isn't to hard for dogs to learn.
Please help, what is the best resource for recall training? Buddy needs it too because he is only at about 95% ... with a tasty distraction such as a rabbit or prairie dog field ("whack-a-mole") he will just ignore me.
