It doesnt change the personality of the dog but it usually reduces agression because of the loss of testosteron. They remove the testicals from the dog so he wont get cancer of the testicals. It will stop the want to roam so he wont get diseases or injuries from dogs he may run in to and he wont get lost because of running off. There really isnt anything to worry about from getting the pet fixed there is a blood test the vet may want to do if the dog is older. A pet can be fixed at most any age. I had my girls spayed when they were around 6mo. Some people like to wait till around 2 yrs for large breed dogs for the growth plates to finish growing and all. I havent had to deal with that cause I dont have LG dogs. It wasnt so much that your dog wasnt fix but that you had gone out of your way to find him a girl that he could mate with that I was shocked about.... Im not angry or trying to be rude Im sorry if i came off that way but I work at a shelter and see SO many unwanted and uncared for dogs and it really hurts....

your male doesnt NEED a female! :o He doesent NEED to have babies! It wont help his disposion ANY to have either. On the other hand it will help his disposion to be nutered. He wont get hurt by other dogs when there is a bitch in heat because he shouldnt be tring to have his way with her....It would also help his health as it will take away the chance for some cancers that he could get while intack. It helps with roaming and agression. It is OVER ALL better for his health to be nutered.

I have had allergies to pollen and ragweed and the like but have been mostly spared with cats and dogs.... at least I thought till I started work at the humane socitey. In the dog stray area I started getting the worst eye, nose and throat problems. I went and got Alavert. It has Loratadine 10mg which is the same a Claritin (sp?). I take it once a day and it has worked wonders. My hubby is on Zyrtec and it helps alot with his allegeries(poison Ivy) Benedryl always makes me too sleepy :-?

I said goodbye to Marley today. I havent known him that long only about a week. He is at the shelter that I just started working at. He is a Old English Sheepdog and still quit young. He is sweet to the people that takes the time to get to know him and get past that first "word" he says when you come up to his cage. He was on the Adoption side when I first saw him and then today he is brought back over to be reevaulated because he grumbled at some people. He just didnt know them and they didnt take the time. He was REALLY sweet. He did the same thing to me and I gave him a min and it was all good. Today when I found out what was to come of him. I went in his kennel and sat with him a few min and talked with him and loved on him. He gave me a hug, put his paws on my shoulders and laid his chin on one shoulder.... Im off tomarrow and I will probably not see him again..... :( I knew that this was something I was going to have to face when I took the job but I wasnt sure just how hard it would be...... GOOD BYE MARLEY SWEET BOY You can go play with my babies that are waiting for me at the Rainbow :angel:

If you sit down can you get her to lay her head down next to you or on your lap where you could put the frozen peas on her head and just sit there and rub her and Ice her booboo? Maybe??? I hope Jada feels better soon. Im sure she will be just fine

petsmart is supost to be a pets place and parents of childern should be aware of their kids and keep them in line. (I know they dont, usually) :-? Maybe the kids should be on a leash :wink: We got some odd looks but never any comments when we took Tory our rotty(RIP) to P-mart . :-? Some people....... 8)

Welcome to the board! When you go to pick your pup up it would be a good idea to bring some cleaning supplies just in case he gets car sick :wink: and a leash and coller so you can stop on your way back and let him potty and walk around a bit and if you are going by yourself it would be a good idea to have a kennel to put him in so he wont get under your feet while driving :wink: When my cats met my new pup what I did was put the pup in a kennel and let the cats come around and sniff the pup that way the pup didnt jump on the cats to play and endup getting scratched and then slowly let them have some time together to get to know each other just take it slow and easy and dont let him jump all over the cats but also dont let the cats bully the pup either as time goes on they will get along. :lol: I hope everything goes GREAT on your trip and after you get home please post pics as soon as ya can!!! :lol: :lol:

On any other vet visits when you make an apt. make sure to say you want you apt. with that doctor. That way you will have the one that is comfortable with your dog and the one you like. We did that with our vet there were a few doctors and I had see 2 or 3 different ones and I asked for the one I wanted when I made the apt. I had to do that when we had to have our rotty pts for her hips, she was 11yrs old and hurt so much, I had done everything I could for the 4.5yrs I had her and that was the last thing I could do.... I asked for the real nice lady doctor. Tory liked her and she went to sleep with me holding her head in my lap and me telling her how much I loved her and the doctor peting her and telling her how she would feel much better :cry: Any way you should beable to do that and get the one you want :lol:
