  1. ok well I went and found alot of info on canidae, innova, wellness, and nutra and some info on 'all life stage' and i took it over to talk with them about it. Of course i had to do this without hubby knowing cause he is all like 'its there dog and not your problem' and all that. I talked with them and she told me stright out that she didnt have time to read it and only wanted me to give her an overview of it, her hubby said he would look over it which is all good cause he is the one mostly careing for the girl. I told them im not trying to get them to feed what I do I just want them to beable to make a informed choice and that is why I give them the other food info. I also know that they only want the best for their dogs. and ofcourse you know what the dr. got them to get...... Science Diet! What she wasnt eating in the first place as that is what she came home on... Thank you all for answering my post :D Its all about the  anyways right
  2. what a wonderful addation to your family!! so precious

    food Q???

I feed my girls Canidae it seems to be great for them. healthy coat and skin good energy and all that. My sis in law just adopted a 9 mo old sheltie from the shelter that I work at and they feed science diet (i dont care for it) anyways she wouldnt eat it and didnt eat very much for the first week at home till I told them what I feed and she thought she would try it. :agrue: Well they went to their vet and he asked what they feed and she told him. He said that it was a real new food and that it isnt good to feed a all stage food that there cant be any thing good with feeding an all stage food.....and told them they needed to change  so I have their nearly 40 lb bag of food. I was kinda upset since she started eating it right when i opened it for her, she loved it! Everything was working out great. I have no idea what they are feeding now, they were feeding purina or purina one i think. As far as i know they didnt even keep enough to mix. Well there went my only chance as ive been trying to get them to change the other dogs food for a while to something that will help with her skin problems...... anyways my Q whats the problem with the all life stage food? Is it a big deal???
  4. I am so sorry, Its been a while sence i have been on here and I had been thinking bout the other post and wishing the best. At least he was loved and cared for till the end. He couldnt have asked for anything better
  5. Thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. It was a beautiful service with almost everyone from the shelter. we said prayers, poems and read aloud all the pups names. It was a lovely .
  6. In the AM at 9 I have a burial for alot of pups that had to be put to sleep because parvo broke out in the shelter and it seems no matter what we did we couldnot get rid of it! This was/ is the hardest thing I have been through. Please think of and send out your prayers for all these little pup that had the misfourtion to loose there lives to this horrible thing. There are so many people at the shelter that are in great states of shock from this davistation. We are all at a loss and so very very sad. :(
  7. Oh my that is so moving! I am still in tears. there is only so much a person can do and it never seems to be enough! We have some pits at the shelter that were taken for fighthing and owners charged they could be with us for over a year waiting for the court case. So many of the employes have fallen in love with them and we know that since they were fighters they will be put to sleep if they arenot given back to the owner by the court but with the people that are working with them now they KNOW they are loved and cared for they didnt know that when they came in some were bait and one IS a fighter.
  8. What I do...... Well Sarah is 2 and a half and Morgan is 6 years old and have had their shots regularly so they are healthy and happy. When I get home from work the girls are in their kennels. I just come in and say 'hey girls, ill be with ya in a little bit' and not touch or go near them. I go stright to the bath and wash up then toss my clothes in the wash. I use hot water, soap and clorox 2. At the shelter when I leave there is a mat 'footbath' with some stuff called veracon (sp?) that kinda sticks to your shoes and kills any germs on them so i dance on the mat before i leave so i dont have to do anything special with my shoes. I talked it the vet there and they said I was doing everything good and that any exposure they have since it was only a little will just help strengthen their system.... and they would have very strong systems.....so far so good and it has been about 4mo now.... Best wishes
  9. Yes it was at the KC zoo. There is a park right next to the zoo called Swoop park if i remember right and there is alot of wild dogs that keep having pups and have never been handled. the zoo has the park fence with if i remember right aproxamently 5miles of chainlink fence but it is hard to check all of it regularly they said. they think the dogs dug under the fence. I dont think it is the first time they cought the dogs in the zoo. I was wondering why they havent done something bout the wild dogs in the park???.
  10. It is a good idea to have the x rays taken.... my sis had a rotty for six years or so and then we got her cause they couldnt have her were they moved to. We took her to the dr and she moved them round and checked her out recomende pic and at the time we couldnt but we did shortly.... well her hip were bad, very bad. we were able to give her meds for pain and had her for four and a half years doing good till the last bit and finely we ended her pain. If we had known sooner we could have (maybe) had surgery......It helps to know while they are young you can do something bout it.... Best wishes
  11. I wasnt here for some of what happened but I read all through it and am very upset over it. I was able to see the web page and was in shock that the little pup he was showing off was on it..... well not really kinda guessed she would be but REALLY!!!! I just hate this...... its so sad
  12. DO I looked at the web site you gave and I cant do it but I will pass it on to my boss and see if they are intersted in it. They really care for the animals so im pretty sure that they will look in to it. Thanks. While I was looking round the page I looked at the dogs and there are so many. I was suprised and saddened then happy for all the ones that found a home.

  16. It is great of you to have gone by to visit and sit with and talk to some of the dogs. I am VERY sure that you made that poor dogs day and hopefully gave him something to help build his trust and that they dont mess it all up. those people there didnt sound very careing......I just dont get how it is 'just a job' and they 'dont care' Im not saying that all the people there dont care but Im sure that there are many people in those kind of positions that think this way and I dont see how they can.......
  17. I guess some of yall have figured out that I work at a shelter. I have figured out that I am very lucky to work at one that is one of the best of the ones around (wouldnt work here if it werent). I am still learning the area seeing as I am still new to it, But I have been told by MANY people that come in to visit, adopt or help out that it is so much better than the others around the area. But it still gets me some days. Its not the condutions that the animals live in, they are good but would be better if they were in a loving home. More so it is the condutions that they come in to the shelter. Be it totally misstreated or totally loved it is still a major shock to them. Ive seen some of the sweet and loved dogs (said by owner) be the worst that you could just not belive it. No matter how much I tried to get them to trust me it just didnt matter, and that someone couldnt find a better way makes me so upset.... Ive seen some of them that were so mistreated that they were scared and skin and bones I work with them and they may or may not come around. I work over in adoptions alot and get to know alot of the dogs there. I want to try to find the best familey I can for them. I do care so much for them and there have been many a night that I cried for them. It is very emotional for me but I wouldnt have it anyother way. They know that someone cares enough to come and see them and treat, pet , kiss, cuddle and baby talk them. It makes their day so much better. I have so many people ask me how I do it and that is it. I wouldnt have it any other way...
  18. glad she is home, happy and safe
  19. My guys will get in the tub after ive showered and play in the water. Morris will try to play in the potty but that is just gross so I dont let him. Bailey my gray kitty will pick his food up one by one with his paw and eat it off his paw. sometimes he would drop it on the dryer (where the cat food bowl is so the girls wont get in to it  ) and make a clink sound so I had to put a towle down under the bowl. You could hear it all the way to the front of the house. not that its that far but ......
  20. Thinks it is 'big brother' watching, ya know? I think they are helping too!!! LOL
  21. This morning I got up and Morgan was showing signs of KC. nasty nasty thing.. So I go on in and start my work and when it is slow I go talk with the vet there. They are super nice havent had much of a chance till now to talk with them.... I tell her what is going on and she sets up a time to see them today. At lunch I go pick up the girls and take them in. They need their shots to be boarded when we go away for 4days next month so I take them both. So DR. gives Sarah her shots and Morgan gets a check up and one shots will get the other in a few weeks after the KC clears up. I also while they are with me there I get a micro chip for them both (hubby isnt ganna like that, ) anyway they have to stay at the shelter with me for a few hours till its time to go so I put them in the ladies locker room. There were several ladies that went in to potty and well Sarah told(showed too) them all how she LOVES to cuddle while you are on the pot. Everyone got a big kick out of it cause she slid under the stall and was right there cuddleing while they went  Everyone told me all bout it and got a big kick out of them I LOVE my girls and would have them no other way
