OMD! This little Chihuaha just breaks my heart!

This little guy is at the shelter I adopted my three from.

[quote]If ever a dog needed a special home, this one certainly does. Chico is a 5 yr old Chihuahua that only weighs 3#. A year or so ago he was attacked by a large dog and his back was broken in the scuffle, resulting in permanent paralysis in the back half of his body. He was evaluated at the University Vet hospital, but the spine is severed, and there was nothing they could do. Mobility isn't a big issue for him. He has developed a lot of strength in his front legs, and can scoot across the floor, dragging his back legs behind him. But every morning you'll need to wrap those hind legs in gauze, so that his skin doesn't get raw and sores don't develop from the friction against the floor and carpeting. He has a little wheelchair you can use to take him on short walks, but he can't be in the wheelchair in the house because it gets hung up on the furniture, and he can't back his wheelchair out to free himself. ... The thing I really like about the rescue I got my three kids from (and that this cutiepie is from) is that the dogs will stay in their foster homes forever if they can't find a home. They'll NEVER be in a shelter, but will always be in a house with a loving family whether they get adopted or not.

Oh, it's a little bitty Rocco! We used to just put boots on his feet and he'd shuffle around wherever he wanted to go. If I weren't over my limit and had a way for transport, I'd love to have this little guy. Gosh, I hope someone takes him. It's really not THAT hard to take care of a paralyzed dog.

Heh, I just noticed... then I'd have two Chihuahuas named Chico. Really original name for a Chi, aye?

Oh god don't mention chihuahua to me.

I'd take this little guy in a second if he was in this country. :( He's adorable and having lost my little Cleo  I'd love another, especially one with special needs as I have the time to devote with not working now.

Such a shame, I hope he finds a forever home. :iloveyou:
