rufus
Yesterday should have been Rufus's last jab which meant that next Tuesday we could finally take him out of the garden for some proper exercise and socialising. When we were at the vets 3 weeks ago, I mentioned a small lump I had noticed on Rufus's head which he'd scratched and had bled. I was told to bathe it daily in salt water and assured that it was nothing. Over the weekend it became bigger and I could feel that it was quite *squishy* and seemed to be oozing and smelly. Yesterday we saw a different vet at the practice and I brought it to her attention. It turns out that rufus has a cyst on his head and has started a course of antibiotics. I also have a proper antiseptic to bathe his head but if it is no better tomorrow he has to go back and they will operate to drain it. I feel realy cross that the previous vet didn't check it more thoroughly :( We now have to wait until next tueasday at the earliest (longer if they operate) before he can have his jab. Poor Rufus, I feel so sorry for him. He is still confined to the garden. I suspose it's a good thing that he's not used to the 'freedom' of running in the fields as he doesn't know what he's missing  My husband thinks Rufus is destined to be an old man before he gets his final jab :)
