Malamum
Just to add to the things we do...... I drive along in winter with the car windows down freezing to death because Indy likes it and he gets too hot if I put the heater on

imported_Cassie
Lets see, I have given up half of my bed for one of my Newfoundland dogs,my Rottweiler and 3 cats...the other 2 Newf's sleep on doggy beds on my bedroom floor...in the winter time I have to leave my bedroom window open as my Newf's get hot easily (I live in Canada, our winters are not pleasant!) I am very particular where my dogs lick me...they are not allowed to lick my face...I see where their tongues have been :o one time one of my dogs had poop on its teeth and when the dog licked me it got in my mouth...I will never forget that bad experience

bk_blue
but she knows I'm there and then wakes up..poor girl..can't even sleep without being disturbed..wouldn't it be awful if you heard everything that's going on?
I reckon this is more Duck's protector instinct at work rather than you being noisy- she loves you so much that she looks out for you whenever she can. It's very sweet. With our two they would seemingly be fast asleep but at the sound of any noise one or both would jolt up and try to look alert before going into snooze mode again.
stacer126
I would do anything for my parents dog he's amazing and when I get my puppy on Sunday it will be the same. I have a freind with a 8 year old Great Dane and they were out walking after we had a really bad ice storm (we live in Canada) and the dog Henry started to slip and couldn't stand up and he started to slip backwards down a 50 foot embankment, my friend grabed his paws but the weight of Henry pulled him down too. My friend only suffered cuts and bruises but Henry the dog broke his back and ribs. He had a $8000 surgury and 30 metal plates put in his back. The good news is Henry is recovering very nicly and the vet said he has neverseen a dog heal as well as he has from a fall like that. A local bar held a fundraiser for the surgury. Sorry if this was depressing.
sheltielover
Wow, great story, stacer. Glad to hear Henry is doing so good. I also feed my girls yogurt off a spoon. Or if I put yogurt in a bowl for them, I will sit on the floor and hold the bowls up so they can eat. My sheltie is short, so when we take her out of my truck, we will carry her all the way to the front door so she doesn't have to walk that far. (it's maybe only 5 steps from the driveway to the front door...I wouldn't want her to have to use all her energy to walk THAT far. ) We also got a king sized bed so both girls can sleep in bed with us (even though they both have their own doggy beds on the floor). By the way stacer, I'm so excited your getting your puppy this weekend!!! Can't wait to see pics!!
