You keep saying people are posting incorrect info do you not? So correct it. And please please tell me how on earth you quoting a question i have asked of you and you not answering being insulting. Why when people look things up,( unless it is being copied and pasted) on the net or in books is that so wrong? And also, since we dont know what breeds half of the users here have, how can we ask them about their breeds? Most of the people who have put info on this topic are actually enjoying the research part, you say their info is incorrect, ye3t seem totally unable to correct it( oops how odd) Threats are made by people who are unethical, dont talk of morals and ethics to me, i suggest you look inside yourself first. I have never encouraged people to infringe any laws. And as to you politely pointing it out in your first post  god would i like to see you being rude  And lastly on the subject..... If this topic so annoys and irritates you its quite simple, stop reading it and start one of your own.
I can correct it if I desire to but then you will simply make fun of me for doing so. Theft of copyrighted material is unethical - you are promoting and encouraging it and apparently you find that ethical. If you asked people to give information on their breeds that they know to be accurate you might actually learn something instead of repeating data stolen from other sites. You might want to look up the principles of true research - it does not include restating stuff you have no clue is correct or incorrect. I'm sorry the moderator's education levels are so low as to not comprehend copyrights or principles of research. I find it even sadder you are completely incapable of taking any helpful hints, blatant corrections or outright calls for ethical actions to heart. Louis
The IBIZAN HOUND "This is an elegant and racily built hunting dog, with an exceptional jumping ability. In spite of its friendly disposition, it is only obedient when it feels inclined. Its coat may white and red or tawny. Large breed requiring a maximum amount of exercise, at least an hour a day, half of which should be galloping free. Short coated requiring grooming only once a week. A rarer breed." Wendy Boorer, Dogs, 1979, Hennerwood productions, London "The Ibizan hound comes from the island of Ibiza in the Balaerics, and is also to be found on the other Balearic islands. It is a useful, medium-sized hound, very active and intelligent, and hunts by scent as much as by sight. In their native islands Ibizan hounds are used to hunt partridge, hare and rabbit as well as larger game. They retrieve and point and are sometimes hunted in packs as well as singly. Although usually thought of as smooth-coated, these hounds can be wire- or long-coated, the long coat being really a rough coat. The breed has a long, lean head with erect ears, and can be red and white, tawny or whole-coloured. It is a friendly, attractive dog and a good companion for anyone wanting a days rabbiting in the country. Similar to the Pharoah hound. Guest Anonymous
Guest, I do agree about the copyrighting of info people get from different sites on this topic. However, who are you to comment on people's education levels? Are you assuming that we, including the moderators, are below you in education as well? Just how educated are you? If you say you are a PhD, then I have no argument. If not, please, no rude and demeaning comments like that. Even if you had the PhD, you still should not say something so rude.
If I have to explain to MODERATORS what copyrights are and what plaigerism is and how research is done (which does not include the outright copying of other people's work) then I suspect the people in question know less than I do - ie their education level is lower. I don't think you must have a degree to be educated - I do think you have to apply your mind to become educated. I think some of the best educated people in all history and in all the world are the people who embark on self education with all the fervor some use to observe ball games  I do think this particular topic is a pure waste of bandwidth repeating stolen information from other sites with no verification if any of the data repeated is even true. If you all want to delude yourselves that its educational then so be it but quit stealing copyrighted work from other web pages and do read the copyright statements on those pages you look at and understand them. Guest Anonymous
Cairn Terrier Country: Great Britain Weight: 13-14 pounds Coat: Rough Color: Any color except white Registry: FCI, AKC, UKC, TKC, CKC Group: Terrier The breeds history is parallel to that of the Skye, the West Highland White, and the Scotish Terriers and goes back about 500 years. From a large variety of types in various locales, four distinct slowly emerged: the Cairn, Skye, Westie, and Scottie. When the Cairns were first exhibited in 1909 they were called Short-haired Skyes. This produced a howl from the Skye fanciers, resulting in the name Cairn.

Frealess and gay disposition, assertive but not aggressive. characteristics. active game and hardy. apparently an able swimmer, and good hunter. Puppy birth weight 5 to 6 ounces litter size (sorry guest) 5 ish congenital faults.. cryptorchidism. But what was this breed bred for? Ickle
I assume from the way he is referred to as a hunter he was probably trained as rat & maybe a rabbit catcher Ickle

GizmoRedNosePit
Hey the Carin Terrier!! I was watching Animal Planet the other day and there was a show on them!! How cool! With some owners they take there pups out to this place ( I dont remeber where) But it is like a home made tunnel and with two mice at the end (safe of course!) and they have to get in there and then find the mice and then bark and then come back out....in a certain time of course but this is what they know naturally....I was like hmm I wonder if Gizmo could do that! LOL Really cue dogs, but they have that really rough hair and they NEVER shed..... :-? :D
Ickle
Hi Roo In a article I read one 9lb cairn while out cubbing ( I presume fox cubs) bolted a fox & a huge badger and received a working certificate for this from the Master of the North Warwickshire hounds so sounds like a useful little dog. Ickle
trained originally to go down into badgers setts and chase them out. Hence the need for a long low sauage shaped body with conical head design to enable them to worm their way into the smallest of nooks & crannies. Do not know a lot about these little dogs but I must admit to having a preference for the wire-haired type when I have judged them in variety classes Ickle :D :D :D
bk_blue
Ahh dachshunds. My grandpa has had dachshunds since I was a kid and though I am nowhere near an expert on them I would like to share some experiences: They may be small; my uncle calls them bonsai Dobermans! Dachels think they're a lot bigger than they are. They have a deep bark for something so small and are very good watch dogs. One dog, Peebo, managed to scare off a couple of robbers by jumping over the high barricade that kept him in the laundry at night. This damaged his back so severely he had to be euthanised. They're fairly active and with any dog, it's important they get out and socialise. They are very affectionate and fond of luxury. They are generally obedient but opinion seems to differ, I do know they are stubborn! They tolerate small children but will snap if provoked (like most dogs). Overfeeding can lead to back problems in later life. Their life expectancy is around 10-12 years (from my own experience anyway). Some of the problems my grandpa's dogs had were heart murmur, leaking valves, and diabetes. Currently Grandad has a 9-month old standard dachshund, Tomson, who is adorable if not a bit hyper. He loves BK and tries to mate him (or his back leg, that's all he can get around!) at every opportunity. BK got sick of this and all he had to do was put Tomson's head gently in his mouth and BREATHE on him, and Tomson was VERY subdued after that. Dachshund Club of Victoria is a good website for info: http://www.ozramp.net.au/~teckel/dcv/dcv.htm And here is a picture of Tomson (ok, here is a link to see the picture) http://image1ex.villagephotos.com/pubimage.asp?id_=519142&uid=36240

deepseasnake
I dont know much about them either but a neighbor of mine had one named scarlet and if I remember right she barked 23 hours a day, at nothing most of the time. she also would come up to my husky "Rocky" (135#) and pick fights. every time rocky was so confused by the noisy little thing he'd suffer a mental breakdown and come into the house with little scarlet hot on his tail. poor rock he just didn't know what to do :-?
bk_blue
Yes they can be VERY noisy and will bark at anyone in the street (from the comfort of their own home, of course). They also don't like cats in my experience. There was a cat who lived next door to Grandad and for 2 years it pranced along the top of the fence and teased the hell out of the dachshunds. One day the cat must have slipped while showing off and that was it. The dogs broke its back and mauled the poor thing, it had to be put down- but the cat's owner was surprisingly philosopical about it and had been aware for some time that his cat deliberately goaded the dogs. It was nobody's fault (though maybe something could have been done to either stop the dogs barking at it or stop the cat from teasing them), just one of those awful, natural-instinct things. :(
