1.
try some ensure or something like that.
I wouldn't give a dog ensure. There are lots of things in there that are very difficult for dogs to digest. I wouldn't worry too much about her not eating if you're getting her to the vet today. I would definately mention her vomiting to the vet though.
 2.
Most of the faults you list for a breed Jill apply to EVERY breed and all dogs in general. Vicious is a fault in all breeds, if you use it for one breed you should use it for all.
Exactly!
 3.
I've been an EMT for 10 yrs and if I stopped to listen to what the families wanted me to do while their loved ones were there dying how many would I have saved?!
Well right now is not an emergency situation and you have time to listen to our comments especially since you asked for them.
Are you all adverse to the info because it is not based on what money hungry breeders would say? Most of the info is from books, veterinarians, handlers and rescue folks, not people who make money selling dogs!
Maybe you should hang around here a little longer before making accusations like this. Also, I did not see any credit given to the books you have used on your site. You must give credit to your sources. The problem that I have with this site (and other sites like yours) Jill is that it attempts to pigeon hole breeds into specific character traits and flaws. While there are some very general characteristics that most dogs of one breed share, each dog is so different that you can't just list all these traits without some qualifiers as to how the dog was raised. It is not helpful to list that a German Shepherd is intelligent and obedient and than to say that they bite. Well, any dog can bite but the way you have it listed it sounds like every German Shepherd bites. Obviously this is not the case. I did read your dog selection guide and it seemed fine. It's just the breed descriptions that need to be overhauled.
 4. Do you give him stuff to do in the crate? How about a nice frozen kong to work on and maybe he would chew on that instead of the blanket?
 5. I'm so glad it's working out for you guys! Pooh Bear sounds great :-)
 6. That's cool you did a taste test with Sasha! I've never given Buck a choice. He's on Wellness right now and he loves it. I actually never considered he might like something else better...
Of course, the dog is going to be a lot easier than the (7) cats, because I don't see them being willing to spend $15-18 on a bag of dry c@ food when they're used to getting 7.99 bags of Friskies
I know what you mean! I have a good friend whose c@t has terrible skin. He's on Meow Mix. I don't know anything about c@t food but I really don't think this is quality. I suggested a better food (Wellness for c@ts and Felidae) but once she saw the price difference decided to stick with the Meow Mix.
 7. Rescues can often be ridiculously picky about potential adopters. I can imagine that you are having a hard time getting through to a rescue when you don't own your own house. My best advice is to keep looking at rescues until you find one that will listen to you even though you don't own. You can also look at shelters. Usually shelters (at least in my area) are way less selective about who can adopt their dogs. You may have to visit a lot of them for a couple months to find what you're looking for, but I guarantee you will find a fawn pitbull puppy. You can probably find one quicker than waiting for a puppy from a breeder. I hate to say it, but you may have just as much trouble buying a dog from a responsible breeder as you would from a rescue. A lot of breeders won't sell a dog to someone who doesn't own their own home either. :( If you're getting rejections from rescues or breeders, I would get personal with them. Keep talking and tell them how committed you are to this dog. Tell them you understand why they have that rule and convince them that you're the one person they should break it for. Provide them with TONS of documentation from your landlord saying you can have this dog. Maybe even offer to have your landlord come visit the dog?? The decision to adopt to you generally comes down to one person so it's not like you're up against a corporation here. Get them to like and trust you. :)
 8. I think Ford would probably be fine in the new apartment. If he's not, he can always come home, right?
 9. Awesome! You guys are going to have so much fun!
 10. Can you move out into your place anyway? It might be easier to raise a puppy in your own apartment. If not, I think Courtnek's advice was very good. :-) Good luck!
 11. Sounds like you will have a busy weekend! Good luck with your new fosters :-)
 12.
He was dragging it because the couple carries the dog everywhere, it probably barely walks anywhere. I can't stand people who coddle their dogs like that. I don't think the trainer did anything to make the puppy scream. I've had puppies scream at me for just touching them (i'm a groomer), so I don't think it was the trainer's fault, accident or otherwise.
I don't care if that dog had never touched the ground in it's life. Training (especially for a puppy) should be fun and rewarding. It shouldn't be about being dragged around or feeling so scared that it has to try and warn the big mean trainer away by screaming. That puppy was terrified! I think Brandon and Ryan were right to get a new trainer.
 13.
He was eliminated and still wanted to know who beat him
That was pretty funny!
 14.
the majority of AKC Am Staffs are big and "squishy"(as i like to call em..) and probably couldnt run a mile without passing out...
That's not because they're incapable of it. It's because they're couch potatos! Just because I can't run the New York Marathon right now doesn't mean I would never be able to even if I started training for it. If you have a problem with a dog being out of shape it's not because the dog is an Amstaff and not a APBT (which is really the same thing anyway).
 15. That's great you got to work with Maggie at home! :-) You're still looking for another puppy than?
 16.
he didnt seem like he enjoyed being a jr. handler very much
All he cared about was who beat him. When he was disqualified in agility he just stood there and said, "Who beat me?" with the most sour expression.
The trainer for the gay couple's dog didn't seem to be doing anything to the dog to make him squeak, except not mollycoddling him like his owners do.
I'm not even sure exactly what the trainer was doing at all. I think maybe he was trying to teach come? All he did was drag the poor thing around on a leash. But he must have done something to that puppy (it was probably an accident) because it didn't just squeak, it screamed and was aboslutely terrified! No trainer should have that effect on a puppy. And I thought it was really weird when they whitened the puppies teeth. Do they realize that those teeth aren't permanent? And puppies teeth are white anyway. I've never seen a puppy with yellow teeth...
 17. Dani, You haven't been a member long and don't know LC very well. Technically she is a "newbie" to Pit Bulls (although she does have a pit mix) but not all newbies are created equal. She's not somone just "dreaming to beat Border Collies with her fast lil pit". LC knows the challenges that come with Pit Bull ownership. Even now she is doing more research and learning with an open mind. I understand educating new owners is important but you can't just treat everybody who is new to the breed in the same way.
If it doesn't work out, she could spend the rest of her life playing musical rooms with her OWN dogs. That's never fun, and something that not everyone takes into consideration when that cute lil puppy shows up, or they see a stunning dog on a website.
LC won't have any dogs after she moves out. The puppy would be the only one. And if you can't tell the difference between the questions she's asking and the questions someone who is star struck by cute puppies would ask, than you aren't reading her posts.
 18. That is without a doubt one of the strangest things I've ever seen. :o If you haven't seen it yet and want to be completely surprised, don't read further. The show actually would be pretty good if they took 3 of the 5 couples off. The 3 that should be kicked off the show could have come straight out of that movie "Best in Show". Although Kyra was kind of annoying, she has done an excellent job with Chalcy. I was pretty impressed! Moira and Adam were good also. Moira is a bit over bearing with her son but has nice dogs and competes in Conformation, Agility and Obedience which is refreshing. Brandon and Ryan need to find another hobby. And it was disturbing how their "trainer" made that puppy scream. I've trained dogs and never have they screamed like that. :( Lourdes looked at her dog's sperm and was so moved that she actually started crying. That pretty much shot through the roof on the weirdness scale for me. I got pretty creeped out watching that fertility doctor ejaculate the dog as well. It was gross. The husband and wife (I can't remember their names) were a little scary. The husband is an AKC judge and announced that dogs are like little people and should get whatever they want. :-? I hope these people are not good representatives of most of the show world!
 19. Is anybody going to watch it? I think the show premieres tonight at 10 eastern time on Bravo. It looks like it showcases the nuttier poulation of showdog owners. So I'm sure a lot of show people won't like it. :-? Anyway, we'll see, maybe it will be good.
 20.
And I'm sure she probably finances them through the Pet Store.
You can finance a dog!? That's really weird. I only consider financing something big that I really need like a house or a car... I did a search, these are Jugs.
 21. There are some definate advantages to a rescue in some respects. It's sort of a "what you see is what you get" situation. Too bad speutered dogs can't be shown. They should really change that rule I think. :-?
 22. He is gorgeous! And I love the name Merlin! :D
 23.
some of their dogs arent titled probably because they havent finished yet. but they compete alot with their dogs
I'm sure they do, but I don't think a dog should be bred until it is finished. Most of those dogs that weren't finished were being bred. Isn't part of the reason for competing, to see if it is worthy of bettering the breed?
You find me ONE..just ONE true APBT breeder of ADBA style dogs that health tests???
Just because nobody else does it, doesn't mean it shouldn't be done. It's sad that it is so hard to find a breeder of APBTs that does health testing. It would be nice if ColdSteel could be one of the first. Then they could have great looking dogs that are sound as well. I don't think we should dumb down our standards just because there happen to be some particularly bad breeders of pit bulls.
Maybe they dont know about better food, ever thought of that one??
Anybody who is breeding dogs should at least know something about what to feed them. Research and good information are available all over the place. If they don't know good food from bad, it makes me wonder what else they don't know about dogs and how to keep them healthy.
Their dogs dont look like lab crosses AT ALL..i'm not sure where the heck you get that? there dogs are some of THE finest true bulldogs i have EVER seen in this day and age.
I agree with you here. They are very nice looking dogs. They don't look like labs to me either. I don't believe ColdSteel is one of the worst breeders of pit bulls out there, but they're certainly not setting any standards.
 24.
No breeder is perfect, but I'm still trying to choose the best I can find.
Excellent! It's all you can do and all anybody can expect. Have you considered an Amstaff or a Staffy Bull? It seems like those breeds tend to have better breeders overall. I think Staffys are soooo cute! :)
 25. Good thing you caught it early! Excellent job Mouse! I hope Gladis sails through surgery without any problems.
