Lucky Chaos

Chaos is going through the exact same thing at the moment. The sit thing seems to work pretty well and I also got a halti to stop the lunging and growling which has really worked wonders in only 3 days. Thats definately an eye opener. We fed BARF for a while and did see a huge improvent in the dogs, even though we were feeding Wellness a high quality kibble before. I don't know if I would ever go back to BARF cause its just to much work. I would like to read more articles like this though, most i've seen are all pro-BARF.

SIMPLE STEPS TO PREVENT ATTACKS Separation Ban Trolls as soon as their spotted. Most importantly, stay safe and be aware of these dangerous beings. I agree guesttoday it could have been any breed, Chaos and my Border Collie Riley have gotten into a few tussles, but the problem is most fights don't end in the death of a dog (not saying they don't of course it is possible). But the dog had her by the throat, a few more seconds and she would most likely be dead now and I blame myself for putting her in that danger.

I'm currently in the middle of serious training with Chaos since she has become very dominant with some dogs. Usually I don't go to the dog park but its the best place for training so we went. After about an hour Chaos was being very good and her best doggie friend came along so I let her off leash to play when these three pitties came along. Georgous dogs, and very friendly with people but as I was petting one of them I saw Chaos growl over a stick, and the dog attacked. It couldnt have lasted for much longer then 30 secs by the time I ran over but it seemed to last forever, for a couple seconds they seemed matched but chaos went down and the other dog had her by the throat when the owner pulled his dog off and left in a hurry. :x I will admit it was Chaos' fault for growling but he didn't even stick around. I'm pretty sure she's ok, but when I felt her her neck was bleeding. The problem is her coat is black so I couldn't see where the blood was coming from or a wound, but after a few minutes she was playing fine with another dog so I assume she's ok. Lesson learned though, no more dog park for me or her. Chaos is a pit mix, I love the breed and don't blame the dog in the slightest, I blame the owner, but they just don't belong in dog parks. I realized it could have easily been reversed with her doing the attacking, so I will no longer be bring her to parks. Please if you happen to have a Pit Bull don't take your chances and find out the hard way. For your dog and the breed.

Oh and I forgot to add, I will defend myself if any dog, large or small bit me or my dogs. I was bitten by a miniture poodle (and of course hold no grudge against them) and my first reaction was to get the freaking thing off my foot. I threw my foot out, and the dog came off. I did feel sorry for the dog, and the fact that it had been taught no manners but I'm not gonna let it chomp my foot while just standing there and waiting for the idiot owner to get his dog.

I don't find any hostility directed at small dogs, just the irrisponsible owners. If I do happen to see a small dog off leash thats barking and seems to want to come up and possibly attack my dogs I'll cross the street, go to the other end of the park, or leave the area. I don't want to deal with the possiblity of my dogs being attacked and then getting the blame when they defend themselves.

You sound like a very responsible dog owner. I would kick ANY dog, big or small that tried to attack my dogs, which would probably be for the dogs own good as Chaos would probably kill it if she had the chance. I don't see this thread as negitive about small dogs, I see it as being annoyed by the owners of the dogs that cause them to be terrors. Theres no reason for any dog to be an untrained terror, but people seem to think because a dog is small it dosn't need the same training as a larger dog.

This is not a thread about the size of a breed, this is a thread about one irrisponsible owner who let their dogs misbehave. No one said only little dogs are aggressive. No one said only big dogs are aggressive. And if you actually READ the thread, I don't think there is a way for it to be misunderstood. Sharpeigirl, nor anyone else here blamed it on the dog.

I wish I had saved the PM she sent me telling me just how show and breeding quality her dogs were.... Apparently people have commented on how well they fit the standard. :roll: Sizzle, if you do critique other breeds could you possibly do Riley? He's supossed to be purebred, obviously not show quality but it'd be nice to know how he fits the standard.

Hope she's really gone this time. Last time she said she was leaving she never did. Maybe she wanted us to beg her to stay? Honestly I don't know how someone can be so ignorant and assume without a spay/neuter contract that none of her puppies or puppies offspring will ever end up in a shelter. :roll:

Very well said. DP. If you were more respectful, people would respect you more and maybe answer your questions. I'm a member of many different boards on a lot of topics and Dogo is a very forgiving board. I can think of one board in paticular where you would have been banned long ago. On this paticular board you put one toe out of line and your banned for a day, twice, and your banned permanately.
