Interesting reading on the Anatolians and their history
Lucky Chaos replied to a topic in Everything about dogs
I'll try but it might be a while, they live pretty far away and we only go there for Christmas. They have a HUGE property for this dog and she's been know to drag home whole deer into their yard. :o She's an excellent guard dog though, the fist time we went up my mom got out of the car to check if it was the right house and she came out of the garage and chased my mom back in and stood guard until someone came out to rescue us. -

That is interesting and I agree with it. My aunt has one and she's georgous! -
http://www.macon.com/mld/telegraph/9035963.htm :-? Personally I don't see any pit in this dog, or if there is its definately not what first stands out.

He had that in his eye?! :o What a awesome boy! I had no idea they could do that to dogs, I think I'll mow the lawn today. Again good boy and he definately deserves a big snuggle!

I pick about a dozen dog (and cat) hairs a day out of everything I eat and think nothing of it. I found a tuft of hair in my chips yesterday, no problem pick it out and carry on munching. I've never eaten anything off my dogs back probably only because it wouldn't be there long enough for me to pick it up again. The only thing that grosses me out a bit is drool. I was eating chicken wings the other day and pulled off a piece for the dogs and handed it to them (of course they got the chicken and most of my hand in their mouths and had to lick my fingers after) and without thinking picked up another wing. Once I realized what I did I was grossed out, but normally fur and stuff don't bother me. But find human hair and I freak.

I love that commercial its so cute!

I much prefer working BC's, IMO ones bred for show are not "real' border collies. In fact alot of them look almost like shelties now to me. :o If I ever do buy a BC it will be a stock trialed one, I still think that showing dogs ruins breeds. I love watching stock dog trials on tv, its beautiful to see and how many show dogs could ever do that? I bet soon the difference between show and working BC's is going to be as big as it is in GSD's.

I love that movie I laughed so hard when I first saw it.
I realize this may not be all your fault, because you are young and living at home where the final say is not your own, but all of your family should be ashamed. :(
Maybe I'm just different and my parents are different but I don't see this as an excuse. I would do anything for my dogs, and my parents would have to pry them out of my hands before I'd let them give them away. Even then it would be difficult and they'd have to lock me up. Nookie said she pays for her dogs things, therefore I don't see the problem if its not costing her parents any money. There was no excuse for giving up that poor dog. If she didn't have the money, then how can she afford the other dog?

On Saturday we were at my aunt's house celebrating my two cousins b-days. Lucky and Riley were at the cottage with my dad for the weekend so we brought Chaos rather then leave her alone all day. There were at least 10 kids there ages 1 yr - 11 yrs, as well as alot of adults. She was just awesome. All the kids loved her and kept wanting to hug her and play with her and she never even batted an eye, even at this one girl who kept harassing her and pulling her ears and pulling her places by her collar a bit more then I would have liked and everytime I asked her to stop she would just start again a few minutes later. (Of course her mom didn't do a thing  ) The only thing that did scare her was the 14 month old baby who couldn't walk yet so he kept crawling after her and sitting on her. (Of course i didn't allow it too much) She's never seen a kid that young and never had anything crawl after her so it kinda freaked her out but she was the best and never even attempted to get away or bite. I just had to brag a bit about what a great dog she was! :D I also got some great pics of her and my 7 yr old cousin sleeping on the floor together, with his head on Chaos' tummy. I'll post them as soon as I find the camera.

Sorry I've been away for the past two days, as far as we know Riley's a purebred. I got some new pics a few days ago so as soon as I take a shower I'll post em. :D

Its sad you gave up on her so soon...at least this way she'll find a good home. I'm glad the shelter people were smart enough to not put her down because you said she was aggressive. She's a puppy, not aggressive. Puppies bite, and they need training. A four month old dog dosn't know what its supossed to bite and what its not unless you teach it! And din't you have 3 dogs before? a Black GSD, a Rat Terrier and a Lab? What happened to those dogs? I hope too that your not planning to get another dog anytime soon. :( Oh and I really hope your still not planning to breed your Rat Terrier. If you still have her that is.

Don't worry ya didn't miss anything, we adopted Riley last October. :D When I signed up for Dogo I only had the two thats why he's not in my screen name. poor Ry must feel very left out. :(

I call my dogs piggies all the time. Or sharks at a feeding frenzy at dinner time. And Lucky's my big bumbling black bear.

Izzy your great! What a cutie she is. :D

YOU......NEED........PUPPY! Ok so I'm no help anymore...I tried to convince you to get the car but I wanna see pics of her growing up now!
Actually, ask anyone, dogs take you for a walk not the other way around as a lot of people would think.
See? a puppy CAN take you places! Who needs a car?
-
:o Thats not too far from me...Scary...Thank Dog for that dog!
-
Wow a whole TWO dogs actually look healthy. Too bad you can't see most genetic problems, and you must have very special talents to be able to see if a dog is sick or not from a picture. Oh and stop defending WOC and learn to spell your own breed, its chihuahua.

Crystal's probably at the vet already and just so you guys arn't left hanging he looks like a purebred westie.

After Koda my GSD got stolen and it was apparent that she wasn't coming back we went looking for another dog to adopt. We checked the Humane Society and animal control shelters arount here for a while but no dog seemed right. Again on my birthday we went back to look, and again no luck, when the shelter said they had a puppy in the back we could look at. They brought her out and as cute as she was I wasn't really looking for a puppy, especially such a hyper one but when they put her in my arms she calmed down right away and fell asleep nearly instantly. I knew I definately couldn't leave her when they told us she was due to be put down in a few days. So she came home. Her story as far as we know was that she was abandoned at around 3-4 weeks of age in the middle of december :o when she was picked up by animal control and bottle fed until she could be adopted. His last owner lived in a tiny little apartment and was almost never home. He wasn't trained, not well housetrained and was "unruly" so when his owner got tired of him he gave him up. He was in the humane society for about a month, very rare for a purebred but noone wanted to deal with his issues (seperation anxiety, marking in the house, no training at all, horrible leash manners, dominance) But he's much better now, can be left alone for 6 hours at a time, very well trained and has discovered his one true love, the tennis ball. We thought we were saving him at the time, not helping the puppymill industry. In a way I guess we did save him, I just wish we didn't put another puppy in his place.
