1.
If anyone gets more details on when this will be on, please PM me. I would do a search but I'm off to work.
Or could details just be posted here? I'd like to watch as well.
2. Rowie I looked at the site again, and it's basically an auction site, like ebay. Only this one allows people to sell animals. Look: http://www.mercadolibre.com.co/jm/search?as_categ_id=1071
3. It looks like an auction site to me. Definitely not good, whatever it is. I can understand/translate some of it but not all.
4. I also agree that you should wait until she pays you back to return the dog. If you think her story sounds fishy and she may not be trustworthy, it's not worth taking the risk. Trust your instinct. To me it sounds like this could easily be a con, a stupid one, but one nonetheless. Also you said something about looking up boxer puppies online? If you're going to go to a breeder make sure you find a responsible one, ie: someone who shows/works their dogs, health tests both the stud and bitch, etc etc. I know there are more than a couple posts on Dogo about what makes a responsible breeder.
5. Congrats on the new addition! It's wonderful of you to take him in. I can't find the words to express what I think of the people who dumped the poor thing. :x I hope they didn't have kids, what a lesson to teach your children. :-?
6. The ones beneath the golden pups are BMDs. The puppies you're talking about look like bloodhounds (or some similar hound) to me.
7. I agree- you should not feel bad. And Nadooi made an excellent point, think of what you did do. Not many people would bother. Some of you may remember this story; a while back one of my mom's co-workers was driving down the interstate when he saw a dog get hit. The person who hit it didn't stop. (Of course. :-? ) The dog was still alive, and the co-worker pulled over to help the poor thing. He made it across four lanes of busy traffic, picked up the dog, and as he was crossing the last lane he stepped out in front of a tractor trailer and was killed. I will always remember this story and the selflessness of the guy who tried to save the dog- while other people simply passed by and did nothing. It is so unfair that this man died while doing such a heroic act. Just always make sure to put your own safety first, I would hate to hear of another tragedy like this one.
8. Wow, this is awesome! I read that book when I was in 5th grade actually, and I still remember it, it was a very sweet story.
9.
I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again, Abker you really do have a sensible head on your shoulders. A big thumbs up to you.

Ditto to that. You are truly amazing, Abker.
Thank you both so much . I really appreciate the kind words. :)
10.
Also, you all say that responsible breeders arent the problem with overpopulation but if people didnt have breeders to go to, they would be getting them from shelters. Now, I agree that there are responsible breeders, but they are very rare.
... I see what you're saying but if the responsible breeders stopped breeding then we'd only have BYBs and puppy mills, because some people would still want a pure bred dog from a breeder. There will NEVER be a day when everyone stops breeding dogs. I don't understand why you're even arguing that point, because it's never going to happen and isn't relevant.
I still dont see the need for breeds.
Because there still are people who use the dogs for a specific purpose and need a dog best built for that purpose, a dog guaranteed to be healthy and have the drive and instict to do the job. You know I love you CC, and I work in dog rescue too, I'm at the SPCA almost everyday and I see the same sad, abandoned faces you do. But the world will never be perfect and people will never, ever stop breeding. Instead of wasting time being angry and discussing a goal that is unrealistic, we need to focus on the next generation and educate them about the sad plight of these shelter dogs. What it means to be a responsible breeder so that people will go to them or a breed rescue, instead of a BYB or pet shop. Ignorance is the biggest plague of today, ignorance (and greed) are what's wiping out all these animals. I still say that education will be better than any breeding ban the politicians set down.
11. I say no also, because if he was used for fighting then he's probably extremely dog aggressive... and you have Kat to care for now. My assumption would be that if the dog saw Kat/was near her he'd lunge, bark, snarl, etc. From what you've told us Kat is a very shy dog and I really don't think bringing in a dog like that would help her come out of her shell. If anything it will make her feel a prisoner in her own home, she may refuse to go outside or etc. And I have to doubt your mom would tolerate that. Maybe Mary could talk the owner into handing him over to her? Even then it takes a lot of dedication to rehabilitate a fighting dog, and you would probably have a lot of trouble placing him. Obviously he also could not be kept in the dog runs with the other animals at the straydog either. BuddysMom- Even if animal control was to get involved and seize the dog, he would almost certainly be put to sleep if he has a fighting background. It's a sad situation all around and I feel for both Mary and you. :(
12. I also agree with what Kiwi and Mouse are saying. Responsible breeders are not the ones aiding to the problem, and our malice should definitely not be directed at them. We need to focus on educating the public about the pet over population problem, about shelter dogs and responsibly bred dogs as well. We need to make sure the next generation understands that "just one litter" is NOT acceptable. And much as I'd love to see people adopt, it is ultimately that person's decision and if they want a pure bred pup I'd much rather see them go to a responsible breeder than a BYB and I will always encourage that. Let's face it- breeding will never stop. It is unrealistic to keep hope for a goal that will never come true. The key to this is education.
13.
Its not genetics that makes a good obedience/agility dog.
But it is genetics (as far as I'm aware) that make a dog best suited to do those sports and activies. It's the training that takes that ability and molds it into something useful.
14. Holy shit! That poor dog, geez it pains me just looking at it. :(
15. I'm very sorry to hear of Zoe's passing. :( Hugs to you Kat. RIP Zoe, run free at the bridge.
16. Just wanted to comment that little Merlin is growing up so nicely! :D He's going to be a knock out in the show ring!
17. I think you did the right thing DAL. Good for you for having the courage to put Stryker's best interests before your own. I'm sure he'll have a great life in his new home. :)
18.
I remember seeing one show where a couple were having problems with their dog basically running the household. So what does Dr Phil do? He gives the dog to a rescue.... And then he gets the people a puppy!!!
:x Ugh that's horrible. Way to promote our throw away society Dr. Phil. And to me his puppy looked like a lab mix.
19. I'm so excited for you Steph! :D What a great experience it will be. :) He's gorgous!
20. I saw that eppie the other day. The people had good intentions, they just really don't know how to handle dogs, and obviously never bothered to ask a trainer. WHY they went to Dr. Phil I don't know. :-? Personally I think the advice he gave them was horrible. He told them to get a fence and keep the dogs outside. (Actually he payed for a fence to be installed.) The problems could EASILY be solved with some good old fashioned obedience training and some NILIF. ANY local dog trainer could have told them that, if they came to this forum WE could have told them that. But no. They go to Dr. Phil to get advice on their DOGS. Last time I checked Dr. Phil was more of a people person.
21. I think it's sad he thought you shouldn't cry over animals. :-?
22.
we want to have kids in the future... i can't even trust him with adults........
I'm so confused. I thought just a few months ago you were talking about divorcing Justin because of his alcohol problems. Did that get cleared up? Is he getting help? Has this only happened today? Has Cody been acting strangely in any other ways? Has anything in your daily routine changed?
23.
Jeez, I've been doing "doggie-style" all wrong.
:roflt:
