1. I think there are far better, safer ways of proving dominance to dog that is too big for its britches, like NILF.
2. I've always wanted a Beauceron. They are gorgeous. Welcome to Dogo.
3. :o Dear lord, you mean there is more than one of her Mala? The world doesn't need more than one Kiwi!
4. :o Wow! He is absolutely gorgeous! You know, you already have a lot of dogs... what's one more if his people can't be found?
5. She is showing Diego, that is why he is intact. Showing and kids can work, you just go to less shows ( because you don't have to go to every show after all), or have daddy do baby duty.
6. We never had no stinkin gate. My dad made a half door on hinges to contain the wild beasties. It looked pretty decent too.
7. You know Pup, you get irritated when people say Eli doesn't look purebred, don't you think that somebody with a dog like the fluffy Corgi would get the same way when somebody says thier dog doesn't look purebred?
8.
these "fluffy corgi" don't even look purebred....
It's funny , Pup that you are complaining about a dog not looking purebred, espcially when you have stated that that isn't a concern for you. Some people just .like the "unwanted" out of standard dogs that show up in various breeds.
9. When I went to the local show here, I went to watch my dad's friend's Am Staff in the ring. She took BOB. She hadn't even recieved her championship and beat out several specials. Whee!! In regards to this show, I watched it at pizzaplace/bar that I go to a lot after I got off work this morning. The poodle that won has the same name as a good friend of mine that is the manager there ( though spelled differently.) All of us, employees and my self were HIGHLY amused by that. He is a rough tough guy metal guy that has dreadlocks, so pretty much the opposite from a toy WHITE poodle. He much more resembles a Puli.
10. Darnit Pup! I have to watch the replay of it and now all the suspense is gone. Next time warn! And you know show breeders haven't ruined every breed. Yes, some of them are a far cry from what they used to be, but there are those that aren't.
11. I don't know Court, but when I was 12 I would take my neighbor's Sheltie for walks all the time. I would make her walk behind me when going up or down a flight of stairs. ( And that was before I knew that that showed dominance, I just didn't want to get pulled. ;) ) Sandy ALWAYS listened to me and would never listen to them. When I would run into them on the porch, I would make her sit before I pet her. They could tell her sit several times and she wouldn't listen, yet I only ever had to say it once. They were kind of miffed that thier dog would listen to a little kid, but not them. Perhaps your friend doesn't enforce her commands, so her dog doesn't see her as the boss, wheras you do enforce them.
12. Yes, any purebred dog that is registered with the AKC can compete in anything but conformation, despite faults of color, size etc. ( Except I think blind/deaf dogs.)
13. Sizzle is at the Dobe nationals, I'm not quite sure when she will be back.
14. What sort of bowls does she eat/drink out of? Plastic bowls can casue nose discoloration.

Dog bites?
Sadly Marion the woman got all upset when her dog went for the others and said "I knew there was no point in doing this !!!" She never came back :( even though we all reassured her that no-one was expecting miracles, and her dog would be welcome to come free of charge for socialisation so long as she was muzzled,I often wonder how she is getting on but I never had a contact number for her :-? I actually didn't let on that the dog had bitten me,I had really thick jeans on and no-one else seemed to have noticed that she made contact with my leg she moved so fast !! And this woman was already upset that her dog had been going for other dogs I thought if I told her she'd probably have dropped the lead there and then and ran !!! As soon as she left I was like "F*** it that hurt !!" and all the other instructors were like "what ?????" I slid my hand down my jeans and realised I was bleeding so I had to go to casualty for a tetanus and antibiotics !! It wasn't the dogs fault really though she was terrified :errrr:
Zoe, I would have told her that her dog bit you too, and that you only NOT press charges IF she KEPT coming back.
16.
(You WONT hit me will ya Hill?   ) 8)
Hmmmmmmm, I would think about it, but my arms don't appear to reach that far. :evilbat: Mutts4, I wish I had liver Dals living by me. *sigh*
17.
Yeah HILL everyone knows dogs with brown spots are just wrong....right
Yes, dogs with brown spots are hideously wrong. :evilbat:
18. Personally, I think everyone is taking most of this the wrong way. None of us have the same taste and I really don't think Bop was trying to be offensive.
19. Really though Bop, you can apply that statement to just about any breed out there if you try. I think Bop is a little bit more of a dominant male than we are used to, so why don't we all just give it a little while to sort out pack order eh?
20. My mind has been elsewhere lately BM. I just wanted to point that out in case your vet hadn't. Insulting your intelligence was never the point.
21. As a preventative measure, they make these things called belly bands that pretty much act as a diaper for the boy dogs. http://mall.cairnrescue.com/inv_bellyband.htm There is an example there and I think you can get them from various pet supply catalog, or even make your own. And they come in a variety of colors/patterns. ANOTHER FASHION ACCESSORY!! They give a pretty good description of training with the band on that page.
22. Nay, sorry if that came off wrong, but we all know that not all vets are that bright. ;) My thoughts are with you and the pups BM. And yes, with all that you have been through, you NEED to keep the little darling.
23. Bailey'smom, I don't know if your vet has told you this yet, but I think it can't go without saying. Keep the infected dog isolated from all other dogs during the course of the disease and for at least one month AFTER full recovery. Parvo can live up to 6 months or so in your home or yard. Before you bring home another dog ( say for fostering) or allow a friend?s dog to come over to visit, be sure it has been vaccinated regularly for Parvo. Although adult dogs generally have a higher resistance than puppies do, they still need to be kept current on their vaccines. Check this website for far more useful info.http://www.workingdogs.com/parvofaq.htm My heart goes out to you darlin.
