  1. I really don't think Eggro's post was meant to be offensive. It seemed to be an honest question. Yeah she may be a bit younger than the rest of us, and when every single one of us was younger, I'm sure we tended to blurt out things without phrasing them "delicately". Just because she and others her age are interacting in a fairly adult manner doesn't mean they are. Take that into consideration please.
  2. When my dog Ivan was still alive, he was absolutely addicted to baby carrots. The second the fridge was opened his nose would go directly to the baby carrot spot. He'd do anything for one. We had been trying to teach him to do a routine of sitting, shaking a paw and then lying down. He never did it for a milkbone. I opened the fridge, took out a baby carrot for myself and one for him and he immediatly and speedily did it. Who says Dalmatians are dumb? They just need the right bribe. :D .
  3. Hey labsrule, that just reminded me of a funny story. After school started up again in my neck of the woods, one of the weekly newspapers had a college "disoriontation" party in the park. There were several bands that played, one of them being my friends' weird heavy metal band. Another friend of mine had brought her two aussie mixes. The dog were all chill and hanging out, not a care in the world. Then the band launched into a Guns and Roses cover, the one with the harmonica. The dogs jumped up on the picnic table and proceeded to steal the show by howling for the duration of the song. There had been a spotlight on the band, that got focused in the opposite direction, on the dogs. Someone was videotaping the band, that too got focused on the dogs. Everyone was doubled over laughing hysterically. I think if Conar had been there he would have done the same thing. He's isn't most physically affectionate dog in the world ( I think it would destroy his "I'm a big stoic nothern breed not some silly lab or dalmatian" self image.) But the second he isn't the focus and ,god forbid , people are talking or interacting with each other, he'll do the pathetically adorable woo wooing. (I didn't bring him because a) he doesn't live with me (TECHNICALLY he's my dad's dog but bahhhh. and b) he isn't too fond of other dogs. He's a very alpha boy, he doesn't care if they are just trying to play, he doesn't want anything to do with it. I think that also would contradict his self image...lol. This is the same dog that if you throw a ball for him, well he will go get it, but he will walk, none of that undignified running after a silly toy stuff for him. Also, what part of Oregon are you in? I lived in Portland for two years. My fave bar was very dog friendly. The Willamette Week did a review of the various bar with stereotypical "quotes" that could possibly be overheard. The one for "my" bar was "I think that dog just sneezed in that guys beer!"
  4. Hey yellowlabs....if I may be so bold.....just so I can live vicariously through you......get a liver pup...... 2 of my 3 dals were liver spotted instead of black and were the sweetest dogs ever.
  5. Thanks Ali, that's the word that was escaping me last night.
  6. Alas, no I can't. :-? Yay dal!

    Samoyeds

Does anyone else here have one? My dog, Conar, is a mutantly large Samoyed. He comes up to about my waist (I'm 5ft 1in) and weighs about 95 pounds. He gets mistaken for a Great Pyrenes a lot, but is a purebred sammy. He also doesn't really act like a "typical sammy", he doesn't roam or dig. I guess instead of being the runt of the litter he was the giant.
  8. Actually Dalmatians (its an a not an o at the end! arg , sorry pet peeve of mine.) do not differ between the liver and the black. You can breed two liver dogs and have a litter of all black spot pups. Liver spotted dogs are less common but there is nothing different about them, so its perfectly ok to breed a liver to a black. Sorry if this, my first post is somewhat convoluted, but sleep depervation seems to be taking its toll! :morning:
