one that isnt so barky would be best. we get enuf noise with my cockatiel screeming  barking at intruders and strange noises is ok though. I would love to have a dog that is watchfull. I will be home from 3pm to 11pm by my self with my young son. I am a bit of a fraidy cat  -

well my list has changed again lol. its now chinese crested, larger chihuahua, maltese, miniature pinscher, and carin terrier. me and my boyfriend sat down last night and made a list of what we were looking for. we would like a smart easily trained dog under 20 lbs, and is good with kids. -
american eskimoes, chihuahuas, maltese, rat terriers, pekeingse, dachshunds, or chinese cresteds? those are the dogs on my list now. me and my boyfriend sat down and made a list of what we wanted in a dog. smart, easily trained, under 20 lbs, and great with kids. probably a non shedder as well since he complained alot after I had our son, and my hair started comeing out lol. thanks guys :D

I belong to a poodle forum as well and they said a mini poodle would be better for us that a toy. but I also belong to a dachshund forum. I am also looking for a chinese crested forum. I find its much better to get info from a owner than from a book or a web site. they dont give you text book stuff, they give you actuall info. the highest I could pay for a dog is about 500$ so the more rare breeds are out I am afraid.

yea. if i decided on a chihuahua it would be a bigger chi. so far my faves are chinese cresteds, maltese, and the poodle

another reason I am going smaller is even thought I love the larger breeds I just cant handle them. I love the collie temperment, but just not there size. I took a good look at my self and realised I just coulnt handle the bigger dogs. I really really like collies, but I dont want to get a dog I cant handle. and my guy will be at work all day, well from 3pm to 11pm. I really thank you for your help though :D

lol. someone mentiond that dachshunds might be good for my family. what do you guys think? I heard they hurt there backs pretty easily. I have ruled out bichons, toy fox terriers, and perhaps rat terriers
-
I dont mind the grooming, its the exersize requerments. I am not a very active person at all
