1. They know who is boss, ME but, there is a real problem on the stairs. So, I think I will continue to make Chelsea wait, at least. It has worked well so far!!
2. I already tried it with Chelsea, and it is much better. I don't care about her being above me, I am still in control. I make her wait and then call her down. It is much better already!! (My Daddy used to say funny things like that, Luka  )
3. Wow, who wooda thunk it  I'll have to make them stay and wait for me now that I know!! Thanks :D
4. My dogs (both) try to get down the stairs before me. Half the time they practically knock me over!! Hmmm....... is this a "Alpha" challenge?
5. I'll keep my fingers crossed!!!
6. Rotti Mama, you know I visit you site!! I just tried to buy tickets, via PayPal, and the link doesn't work  Let me know when it is fixed, and I'll buy a couple :D
7.
now thats not fair
What's not fair? Not wanting to get a rottie from a shelter? I think it is a smart choice on my part. I don't know the background on any of these dogs, and the one that more than two shelter workers told me was sooooo sweet, was the one that nipped me. It would have to be a very young dog, for me, to get it from the shelter. I am not experienced enough with rotties to be able to handle a dog with "issues" shall we say. I think it is very wise on my part. And, I wouldn't want to get a dog and then have to take it back because it was aggressive. I don't want to be afraid of my own dog :-?
8. Wow :o -high prey drive! Didn't read anything about that!! Thanks for the additional information. Every little bit helps me to make a more informed decision. :)
9. Hello and Welcome Patricia (that's my daughter's name :D ) Glad you have joined us!!
10. Gosh, I just saw this post!! (sorry) Katy, what a hugh fear!! Was this your lab? Poor baby, hope she will recover quickly!! It can happen so fast can't it??? Do you have pet insurance????
11. No Patricia, (and welcome!!) I don't know what happened to her. But I think if your dogs are restrained, or crated, you shouldn't have a problem.
12.
IS DAISY BETTER NOW?
She isn't quite back to normal yet. Still has some blood in her stool. It is really taking long this time. I feel bad for her and can't help but think this is shortening her lifespan. I hope she will be herself soon! Thanks for asking :D
13. Note: forwarded message attached. The following ad in The Gazette is reported to have received numerous calls SINGLE BLACK FEMALE seeks male companionship, ethnicity unimportant. I'm a very good-looking girl who loves to play. I love long walks in the woods, riding in your pickup truck, camping and fishing trips, cozy winter nights lying by the fire. Candlelight dinners will have me eating out of your hand. Rub me the right way and watch me respond. I'll be at the front door when you get home from work, wearing only what nature gave me. Kiss me and I'm yours. Call 514-555-5555 and ask for Daisy. Over 15,000 men found themselves talking to the local Humane Society about an 8 week old black labrador retriever.
14. Good luck Rowie. Keep us posted!
15. We took the "girls" to the park yesterday and had a wonderful time!! We couldn't believe it that Chelsea took to the water so fast!! She actually swims  We threw a stick in and she jumped right in after it. Daisy just goes in where she can touch the bottom, but Chelsea goes right out!! We were so surprised. It was a great day for socialization too!! There were so many doggies there!! No leashes!! All happy and running and swimming (Mostly Labs :D ) and sniffing!! It was good to see the sun and feel the warm air....... sigh....... Spring is almost here!!!
16.
It all depends on how the dog was trained, socialized, and treated.
Exactly! That's why I can't trust a shelter dog. (at least with that breed) They are too big and can be too dominat to "wing" it. If I do decide to get another dog, I think I will go through a breed-specific rescue.
17. Trixe, our sweet old gal was PTS about a month ago. See the memorial and the post "she's gone". Ugh :-?
18. Yeah, me too!! Well, three dogs are hard to handle. We just have two now, but I have this obsession you see. Maybe this was a sign from Trixie :-? YOU CAN'T REPLACE ME!!

Dog Books

No, I never read that. I only purchased books specific to Labs and puppy training.
20. We went to the local animal shelter yesterday. My sister is looking for a cat for her new apartment she is moving into on the 1st. Of course, I had to look at the doggies, all the doggies, but especially the rotties. They had what looked like 3 fullbreds and a couple mixes. I took one girl, Penny, for a walk, and she nipped me :o I think I can say we did not bond  One of the workers had another FAT rottie out for her walk, and the two dogs wanted to sniff and etc., but the worker wasn't sure if they would fight, so I tried to move on, with a "come" comand, and a slight tug on the leash, and that's when she reached up and nipped my hand. After that, I was a little afraid to even take the others out. You all know that I am a BIG advocate of adopting, but I think with this breed, I would almost have to get a puppy. (not from a petstore of course) You just don't know how aggressive a dog will be, and I don't know if I willing to take a chance like that.
21. Hello & Welcome!!! _________________
Is it the fact that I've gotten a paw a day since I registered?
How did you get 3 paws already :-? I think that is a mistake. They must really want you to stay
22. You know, we treat our elderly in a similar manner, "thow away society". We put them in nursing homes and let them be abused by under-paid and under-educated people who rob them blind and don't give a $#@** about them. (sorry)
23. Oh my God   I read this at work!! big mistake  You are a wonderful writer! That was very moving. It's funny, my daughter is doing a speech on puppy mills vs. adoption/rescue, and I think I will have her read your story. I think it wiill help her very much and may add to her speech. Wow! (Edit - did you write it? Are you Chris?)
24. We got our Trixie from a pet store. But, she was a mix and most mixes, at least where we got her are not from mills. They usually sell purebreds. Don't feel bad. The dogs still need a good and loving home! They didn't ask to be born like that!!
