How about the dogs in the site that was posted earlier: http://www.knoxhumanesociety.org/pounddogs.shtml I'm sure it's not too long of a drive over a weekend :-? -
Yea!! Have fun, can't wait to see the pics

Very sweet, congratulations!! How about calling him Charlie? He looks like a Charlie to me  My daughter says to call him Henry.

That was sweet. Looks just like my Daisy  Red collar and all!

Yes, unfortunately, i'm sure a lot does go to administration costs. I just sent for the certificate, so she will go in a few days to a week, depending on how long it takes to get here.
-
She wasn't from a shelter. We rescued her from the Sommerset County Humane Society. They do not have a physical shelter. They depend on fosters and donations

I really didn't think the $177 was that bad, but you know who did....... but, why should we pay that much!!!
-
How is Luka today? The little :evil_lol:
-
Well, Chelsea is going under the knife soon...... Since she was a rescue, I tried to get a low cost spay for her from the humane society where we got her in Maryland, but they don't offer that. So, I called my local shelter and got a couple of phone numbers. I am going through Friends of Animals. :D It will only cost $75.00 compared to $177.00 at our vet. If anyone is looking for low cost spay or neuter, go to www.friendsofanimals.org I am saving over $100 and believe me, we have spent our share of $$$$$$$$$ at the vet :o

Luka, don't forget you can give him some rice too. That should help with the diarrhea. Bananas also help, and Daisy loves them!!

She has been doing a lot better on the mix of raw chicken, veggies, yogurt and the EN. At first, I had to switch her feeding times around, because she couldn't handle the chicken over night. (couldn't hold it) So now, I feed her the chicken in the morning with veggies or whatever, and then I give her dry food with yogurt at night. I mix it up and it has been pretty good. I over slept this morning, and she pooped for the first time in the kitchen in about a week, and that is great. The vet told me it would take a while for her system to get used to the change, and I think it has :) She still doesn't look right to me. And, I think she has an ear infection, but I have only been treating it with drops, and didn't call the vet. It seems to be clearing up. I was told in similar words that I basically had to cleanse her system and start fresh, and it that, certain things might pop up, i.e., skin rash, pimples, etc. So far that hasn't happened, but we have the ear thang  I am wondering if that is one of the ailments she was speaking about. Thanks for asking!! We go back in a few weeks, and hopefully, that will be the last time. She is very, very expensive :o
How do you lower a dog's cholesterol?
I don't see anything about that, but I would think that introducing raw veggies and fruits would help. I think he may get a case of diarrhea from eating the pork, especially if you don't usually give him meat. Watch out for that, becaus pork is also on the food allergy list. And one of the symptoms of an allergic reaction is diarrhea. AND YOU ALL KNOW BY NOW, THAT I AM A BIG EXPERT IN DIARRHEA :o

Did he eat the foil too? The BBQ sauce is full of sugar, other than that, it shouldn't be a problem. Dogs can eat raw meat, as we all know, but pork isn't on the list  Here is quote from Natural Healing for Dogs & Cats by Diane Stein "Avoid using pork because it contains the highest amounts of chemical additives and its fat raises pets' cholesterol levels" From this, it doesn't sound like it would be a big problem this one time. (Except for the foil????)
