1.
she can gag a maggot with her farts
LOL! I'll have to remember that one!
2. I took him to the vet, and there were two gorgeous German Shepherds there, and Pooh Bear just went nuts barking! The GS dogs were perfectly quiet and looking at Pooh Bear like "won't you shut up?" LOL. Finally one of the assistants took Pooh Bear to the back until they were ready for him because he was driving everyone nuts. On the way back, he was jumping up and down, and the assistant said "come on little boy who just had hip surgery." They put 2 staples in and said that he's doing great. But now he looks just pathetic. He has to be a conehead now until the stitches come out. I put it on him as soon as we got home so he can have it on a few minutes before I have to leave him in his crate to go to work. He just jumped up on the sofa, so he's starting to figure it out. So actually, he's doing great considering he just had surgery 4 days ago. You know how worried moms get. I'll take some pictures of him as conehead the barbarian tonight when I get home from work.
3. Pooh Bear's leg is hurting more today, and he's also pulled out a few stitches. So I'm taking him back to the vet in a few hours and they'll probably put a couple staples in his wound. He'll probably have to wear his cone all the time now. Poor little guy. I was hoping he would only have to wear that when I'm gone. I've been putting the bitter apple spray around (but not on) his wound to keep him from licking it, and it worked for a while. I have to go to work tonight and tomorrow, but I have Wednesday, Thursday and Friday off for my horse's show. The show is only about 25 minutes away so I'll still be able to spend lots of time with Pooh Bear and the girls before and after the show each day. I wish I could keep spending 24 hours a day with Pooh Bear. I wish I could wrinkle my nose like on Bewitched and make him all better. :(
4. LOL. You're not crazy Horsefeathers. First I posted Pooh Bear's update on this thread, and then I moved it to its own thread because I thought maybe people wouldn't see his update on this one. Well, maybe you're crazy, but not about this.
5. Oh, that's always scary when you get test results like that. But hopefully he'll be fine when they do the test next time. Crossing paws for a good test result!
6. You wouldn't think that something this tiny would drive a dog into such a frenzy!
7. Yeah, I've tried "enough" too. I think that being in so many homes with no consistent training, he learned to bark and nobody ever told him not to. And I don't think he's ever seen squirrels and birds before, because that's what always sets him off. So I'm going to see if I can find a trainer who can come to my home and work with us, since that's where the problem is.
8.
I’m not saying she shouldn't get out of this situation. If she's unhappy then she should divorce. More power to her. I’m asking HER not you or anyone else on the forum, why she feels the need to leave right now and completely screw him over so that he loses the house. Like I said in a previous post, if she wants to move on and date other people it's not like anyone is going to be there to hold her back from doing so, so why not just stay around for a few months. I also want to know why she expects pity and support for having to get rid of zoey when she didn't want the dog in the first place. Again these are questions for her not you.
Obviously you haven't read DAL's responses. And have you ever thought that maybe she doesn't want to stay there until Justin gets back because she doesn't want to see him? You are such a naive little boy.
9. I agree, he needs to be taken out on a regular schedule for potty breaks. Maybe have a piece of paper by the door so every time he's taken out, it's written down, so that everyone knows when he was out last.
10.

I just think it's stupid that she would want to get rid of the dog before all of this and now that she's leaving the hubby she wants a pity parade because she "can't keep zoey".
Granted if she wanted to send Zoey away before I can't see her being all broken up over it now. However, giving her a small benefit of doubt - maybe its all the stress and emotional upheaval of the divorce that has her upset rather than actually sending Zoey to Justin's parents?
lol she's the one leaving him. Not the other way around. Really has no right to get upset about it. It’s 100% her choice. If it was her getting dumped I can imagine there may be some sort of abandonment issues that she’s trying to work out but that’s not the case. *shrug*
Oh, so because she's the one initiating the divorce there shouldn't be any stress or emotional upheaval? What a typical thing for a guy to say.
11. It wasn't his foster mom who covered the surgery, it was the rescue shelter I adopted him (and Jackie and Maya) from. And they're taking care of the post-surgery vet bills too. Pooh Bear has a long way to go, but he's doing so good considering he just had surgery three days ago. He's really turned into a momma's boy too. And Jackie and Maya are being great too. They know that he's not feeling good so they're not trying to get him to play, but they'll cuddle up with him.
12. Way to go Sydney! What was her costume? We need pics!
13.
Guys, settle down a little huh…….. My original concern was only with DAL saying that she didn't think she could handle keeping Zoe because she was Justin's. My only concern was that if Justin couldn't/wouldn't keep her then that's not a sufficient enough reason for DAL not to. However with that said, if Zoe is Justin's dog then of course Justin has to be given the option of keeping her. And if his parents are prepared to look after her in his absence then I don't think it's that much of an issue as long as Zoe will get the care and attention she needs. Of course splitting the dogs up may or may not be ideal (none of us know how attached to each other they are) but I don't think it's the end of the world. Dogs are adaptable - I don't think either of mine would curl up and die if they were separated from each other. As long as one of the options isn't taking Zoe to a shelter and that DAL is open to continuing to care for Zoe if Justin can't /won't then I don't really have an issue.
My sentiments exactly! Give DAL a break, she's doing the best she can while going through a divorce. Justin even said she can't have Zoey, and his parents said they will take care of her, and she's known his parents her whole life.
14. I'm so happy! Pooh Bear is improving every day! He still naps most of the day (which is fine), but he's starting to actually put weight on his left hind leg now! Every time I take him out to go potty, I walk him around the yard on his retractable leash. And he was actually stepping on his left leg last night and today! But he's still three-legging it most of the time. I've been doing the extension and flexions with his leg, doing a little more each day; he was swearing at me on Friday and a little bit yesterday morning when I was doing them. But the last half of yesterday and today he let me do them with no complaining! And today he's even started lying on his left side! He really wanted to yesterday but he just couldn't. And he can lie on his back now too! And he's getting along great again with his sisters. He didn't really want anything to do with them for most of Friday. Here's a few pictures from yesterday:
15. You know the dogs better than any of us do, and you know your present and future situation better than any of us do, so you do what you think is best for Zoey. I know you have Zoey's best interest in mind.
16. Your picture was so dark that I couldn't see Rory very well, so I took the liberty of lightening it up for you. What a cutie!
17. Today, Pooh Bear started barking when I had him on the leash, and every time he would bark I would say no and close his mouth with my hand. It basically didn't have any effect. He would start barking again right away. And every time I would do the same thing. So... Before I resort to the electronic collar, I'm going to find a dog trainer who specializes in barking problems and see if he/she can help us. I've never gone to a dog trainer; I've always been able to do all the training myself and never had any problems I couldn't resolve. But Pooh Bear and I need help on this one. Other than the barking, he's a great little dog! So after the stitches are out and he's walking on his "new" leg, I'm going to get us into training. I'm going to start checking out trainers now.

19. Good job, Kittygirl! I bet your baby comes around real quick. Good luck!
20. I still don't know if I'm going to use one on Pooh Bear for his barking when he's outside. I'm taking him outside on a retractable leash until he gets his stitches out from his surgery. I'm hoping that he'll see something that will make him bark so that I can correct him when he's on the leash. But so far, of course, he hasn't barked.
21. Maya has to go out with a cable attached to her harness, or she'll jump the fence. The cable is always attached to the harness, and I just hang the harness on the outside of the back door. I have her sit, and open the door just enough to grab the harness, and put it on her inside. If you don't have anything to attach a cable to, you could just sink a stake into the ground like I did and attach a cable to that. The only thing that isn't buried is the chain that the cable it attached to.
22. Pooh Bear is definitely feeling better today. I took him for a walk around the back yard this morning. He was mostly three-legged, but he's starting to toe-touch now. And he was able to squat down to poop, and his poop was normal (last time he was sedated he had the runs). He's back to taking a nap on the sofa now.
23.

Woo hoo I'm glad he is home. Aww and his poor nekkid butt must be so cold. Just wondering are you letting him jump up and down from the couch with out any help?
The vet said that he can go up and down stairs and jump up and off the sofa and futon. One time he needed a little help to get on the futon, so I helped him up. But otherwise, he gets on and off the sofa just fine.
:o Pooh bear had the TPO right? I don't know the specifics of Pooh Bears operation but when Zeb had his TPO the doc said absolutly NO jumping, or stairs without help from a sling. Heck he was crated for a month! Considering how much the operations cost I'm suprised that the doc said that it was ok to let him jump around, I would think that the pressure could/would cause major problems with the healing process. Wow..I'm just really suprised that the doc wouldn't have put a jumping restriction on Pooh Bear at the very least.
No, Pooh Bear had the FHO (Femoral Head Ostectomy) where they want the dogs to start exercising right away. You're right about the TPO where they aren't supposed to do any of that.

25. I brought Pooh Bear home today after his hip surgery, and the poor little guy got car sick on the way home and threw up his whole meal that he had had at the vet clinic (luckily on the floor mat). When he got home, he drank a lot of water, and I took him in the back yard and he peed for what seemed like forever! He's been sleeping all day. Maya and Jackie were sniffing his naked butt and his bright pink stitches and wanted to visit with him, but he told them he didn't feel well. He snapped at Maya a few times when she went up to him when he was on the sofa. So I'm making sure they leave him alone for a few days. I'm sure they'll freak out when I put his e-collar on him on Monday when I have to go to work and put him in his crate! He did eat tonight. I tried to coax him to get off the sofa to come and eat, but he didn't want to. So I put the bowl on the sofa and he gobbled it up. So it's good that he's eating and drinking. I'm taking him out to poop and potty on a leash until he gets his stitches out (about 2 weeks). He can go up and down the stairs but he three-legs it. I feel so bad for him. He's very sleepy and wants to sleep on his left side (which is the side that was operated on), but of course he can't yet. He's whimpered a few times, but not much at all, and he's very good about taking his medication. Here are some pictures of Pooh Bear and his cute little naked butt: This is a picture of him sleeping on the sofa the night before his surgery.
