1. Luka is microchipped. I also have a lot of tags on his collar. His home tag, shelter tag, microchip tag, and town registration tag. But with a collar, it can easily fall off or break. The metal buckle, not the plastic clip kind, will be a lot more secure, but the plastic will break if there's pressure on the collar (if it gets caught), saving the dog from choking. Also, dog thieves can easily remove a collar and without proof, like a microchip, it will be hard to reclaim a dog.
2. Luka's a year and 3 months old. I think it's the sound he's scared of. Big wussy chicken!
3. Luka loves ice cubes, but I read that for an aggressive chewer, it's very common for them to chip a tooth on an ice cube. The chicken broth sounds like a good idea, but with that, I would only be able to give it to him when it's warm, outside. Anything that would melt, that has colors in them, would stain the carpet. Even the colored Nylabones and compressed rawhides and stuff. With his slobber, it actually "melts" and gets sticky, onto the light beige carpet. Ahhhhh! Luka likes old socks. You take a bit of "filling" and stuff it into a sock, stuff the sock into a sock, and then again into a sock, with about 5 pairs of socks. That way, it's a tuff cotton sock ball (always use under supervision). We do what gooey said with the ice. Fill water bottles, freeze 'em and cut the bottle off. Just B careful cuz ice is very solid and heavy (duh!), just incase the dog's gonna pick it up and throw it around or something (which Luka does)...
4. Luka's afraid of anything that makes noise, vacuums, blow dryers, etc. I wish I could blow dry him or vacuum the loose hair off of him. Any suggestions to get him to be vacuum/dryer friendly?
5.
For the non shed hair my understanding is the father has to be the poodle.
I learned that in Bio! Your amount of hair loss depends on your father's side. So if your dad has thin hair, I'm sorry to say, that you most likely will experience loss of hair, guys and gals alike...
6. Thanks! I've gotta stop letting little things ruin my day! ENJOY LIFE WHILE YOU CAN!
7. Awww Cheetah! Where's Santa and you? Why didn't you put the whole pic up? JK  . Sorry, no bull breeds here.
8. Luka - Scardy cat and a big chiken. His fur sticks up for everything. He gets nervous, stressed, and worried very easily. But he loves other dogs. He'll nip at them to engage them in play, but is definitely not the dominant dog. He doesn't give a $h!t that the other dogs are mounting him. He hates the car, a psychological thing. He loves food, even the weirdest things. He loves belly rubs and snuggles, but only when he feels like it. He doesn't like to sleep in a lot of commotion, but rather prefers his spece. He's intelligent, and his facial expressions say it all. He loves to run and play, and still does zoomies.
9. Wait a minute Newfiemom... What kind of dogs do you have? JK! Just messin' with ya! :P
10.
Wow, who wooda thunk it
I love your language :D !
11. Awww! Hobbit, they shoot herding dogs?! Some people think that a horse or dog naturally inherits the work their parents have been doing, as if they'll naturally learn to do it or something. I hate people that take out their own anger, frustration, flaws, and screw ups out on an animal. There was this one barn that I visited, when I was looking for a good jumper barn, that would smack a horse when it spooked. It's not the horse's fault that the riding ring is stupidly located on the main road and all the loud cars scare the horses. Every time the horse spooked and jerked, they would smack the horses, saying that they should learn how to control their fears, and that it was inappropriate for a horse to spook when there is a rider on its back. I wanted to tell them, "Well, it wouldn't be a problem if you actually learned how to hold on, like most professional trainers do." They were all so paranoid about being bitten or kicked when they were brushing and tacking them, that they would be like, "Did you think it was a good idea to pet the lesson horse's muzzle?" First of all, you can predict when they're about to bite, and second, if you're so paranoid, why would you use the horse for beginner lessons?
12. Same with horses. People will sell foals and yearlings for a lotta $, saying they have Ch bloodlines. They also say that their dam or sire or siblings or cousins have won medals and shows and stuff, as if the foal will be as good too! In reality, the foal has the potential to be a champion, but the outcome depends greatly on the training. The dissatisfied owners will give up their horses and will even sell them at auctions to be slaughtered!
13. Awwwww... I'm really sorry. Poor Alex. Hopefully, it'll br an easy and routine procedure. I'm sure Freebee will bounce right back up! Let us know when you find out what it is. Hope all goes well!
14. Awwww! Poor Freebee... At least she's perky and doesn't seem to be in much pain. That must annoy you that the kids are ignorant enough to throw stuff in your yard, huh. I really hope everything will pass on its own, without surgery. Best regards!
15. That's what I was thinking DP... Obedience may not fix a dominance issue. Maybe hide the potatoes so he doesn't have anything to become protective over. How is he with other dogs? Does he try to be alpha? In any case, I'd fix it before it gets worse.

BTW, if you still want one, at least you can test yourself to see if you're suited for them. http://www.wolfdogalliance.org/rescue/index.shtml

You might be able to find something useful here. If not, at least you can see the cute pics... http://www.wolfdogalliance.org/rescue/adoption.html
19. How'd you teach her all that? Did you go to training classes? I just taught Luka the "high five" and I was pround...

Wolfdogs

Although wolves are magnificent animals, I don't think that they should be pets. Their wolf instincts will remain, and it might not work out as expected. You can't be influenced by stories like "Gentle Ben" "Free Willy" "Julie of the Wolves", etc, where it seems as though the human beings and wild animals are harmoniously sharing their lives naturally, with little training or work. Wolves belong free in the wild, and they don't deserve to be tamed and take orders from humans. Plenty of experience with dogs, training, and wolves would be required for it to work out. Don't forget to think about how to fix things when it gets out of hand. You need to be responsible for the dog, not only at the moment, but for the rest of its life. Think about being fair to the dog, cuz they don't have a chance to voice their opinions about anything. IMO, wolves shouldn't to be bred and domesticated. Why would you need a wolf for a pet when there are hundreds of great pet dog breeds? Pretty soon we'll be domesticating some wacko pet like elephants and everyone will have a miniature elephant.
21. Same problem with Luka. He can wait for his food, but when I tried putting one on his nose, he couldn't help but to look up at it. Then it fell...
22. So you think that could be it? Those specific ingredients?

Avoderm Food

I don't know what's good, but Old Roy is supposed to be BAD.
24. I was thinking if your dog breed comes from somewhere that's cold, and maybe you live somewhere that's hot? But Canada's not hot!
25. I'm sure they don't actually put sodium into the foods, but are there a lot of ingredients that are salty? Is your dog easily excitable, as if he exercised a over nothing?
