1. Thanks guys. No, Luka didn't eat the foil. He skillfully uncovered the dish and grabbed it off the counter. Rggg! Naughty boy! He's never done anything like this before. The BBQ sauce must have tempted him. I read on a GDV website that you're supposed to not give them water for at least and hour after a big meal, but he drank 2 bowl fulls! He's been sleeping, prolly cuz he's stuffed and got a belly ache, but he went pee pee twice in a half hour (all that water), so his bowels must still be working. Because I've dealt with horses with colic, I tried keeping Luka up, not lying down, so that his stomach wouldn't rest and knot up. He actually dragged me outside and wanted to run, so I pulled him back inside before he could do any heavy exercise. I also held up a kibble of food for him (colicking horses won't eat), and he eaven sat an gave me his paw for the food. Basically, he went pee, he's eating, and he wanted to run, so could he be getting better? I'm just worried cuz the meat was cooked, dripping with thick sauce, had cooked bones in it, had lots of fat, and it was pork for 4 people! How do you lower a dog's cholesterol? Also, how long should I not feed him for? Tonight, obviously, but tomorrow morning? Even tomorrow night? Thanks again for all the advice and thanks in advance!
2. Okay, during the hour that he was left alone, Luka went over to the kitchen counter and some how got to the pork, covered in tin foil! There were four very large pieces and to make it worse, it was all covered in BBQ sauce! And it was boned! He did pass bowel movement, but he had about two bowls of water, and his stomach is very enlarged and he is lethargic. What should I do? Will it pass naturally, or is it something that I should call the vet about? And how long should I not give him food for? I'm really worried cause it was four large pieces, with bones, and in salty BBQ sauce! And BTW, there are no traces of bones anywhere! Please help!!!
3. looks like a dal and an airedale type terrier (because of the fuzzies around his mouth).
4. I agree, what a jerk! It's one thing if you can't take care of your dog so you give it up or surrender it to a shelter, but it's another thing if you abandon it and deny having owned the dog! Some people think that dumping dogs at parks is a good idea, cuz there's a lot of people that would see the dog and there might be someone who could take him home, like you did! That dog was sure lucky that you were at the right place at the right time. Who knows, he could have starved, wandered onto a busy street, fallen into a frozen river (can you tell I'm a big fan of Animal Precinct?). Hope it all works out! Good lulck!
5. That was actually recited over the loud speaker at school last year, and I fell in love with the story. Ouch! That's gotta hurt. I hope he gets better soon courtnek. You know he loves you, just too shy to admit it... boys.
6. I thought I replied to a previous post like this one, in French. I could have swworn it was the same dog! Well, anyways, my guess is still a GSD mix.
7. Personally, I don't think that too much pride or confidence is doing us any good, especially when we refuse to accept our flaws and mistakes.
8. A father, whose wife had passed away, lived with his young daughter, who greatly resembled his wife. One day, for her father's birthday, the child decide to make him a gift. She gathered a big box and lots of wrapping paper and ribbons and tape. As she was wrapping the box, her father says, "You're not supposed to be wasting all that wrapping paper and ribbons!" And the child replied, "But I'm wrapping a present for you daddy." The father was slightly moved. Then, the child handed her father the tape and wrapping covered box. The father opened the box, and yelled, "There's nothing in this box. Don't you know that when you give somebody a present, you're supposed to put something in the box?! You wasted all that paper and ribbons fo nothing." Then she replied in sobs, "But daddy, I did put things in the box. Can't you see all the kisses I blew in it for you?" Now the father was greatly touched, and felt sorry for yelling at his only child, but his pride would not allow him to apologize. Until one day, when the child went to her mother, forever, after a horrible car accident. This is when the father, and husband, regretted not living in the moment, as if there was no tomorrow.
9. Before I got to the 2nd and 3rd pics, I saw some Dachshund in him. Just from the color and ears tho.
10. I'd love to see pictures. Jumping's my favorite too! Good luck with the upcoming show season. I can't believe my first show is at the beginning of May, in about 4.5 weeks. Ahhhhh the nerves!!!!
11. I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your horse. I've been riding (hunter/jumper) for 5 years now, with the loss of 3 school horses. What style do you ride? I am sure that you and Lena had wonderful times together.
12. Good for Kato. Ewww. Luka eats what comes out from his top end, when he gets sick in the car. He eats cat poo too. :wolfie: (I know, it's supposed to be a wolf, but it looks like a cat...)
13. This is a previous discussion about his breed here on dogo... http://forum.dogomania.com/viewtopic.php?t=4005&highlight= He's 58lbs and 23in at the shoulder. He has tickings on his throat, chest, and feet. He points his tail when he sees small animals and other dogs. He's got a slender streamline. He's red and white. 14. Rgggg! How can people be so heartless? You'd think that they'd have a concious and would feel for the innocent eyes looking at them. All they want is a comfortable, loving home. Not money, not a car, nothing but some love.
15. I've been volunteering for 2 years. A lotta fun! I even got Luka from there. Cheetah, you forgot about the rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, iguana, snakes, aligators, and roosters (We've had all those)!
16. I've been volunteering here for 2 years, Cheetah started last year. We're not a no-kill shelter. They only get PTS if they have an uncurable disease (like Cushings), or if they are too aggressive to be adopted out. We have a front and back to our kennels. The fronts get washed in the morning, and backs in the morning and afternoon. They get walked every 2 hours by volunteers and staff. The dogs that come in pairs will stay together if they get along and if they are fixed, unless they're gigantic dogs. The larger dogs or high enery dogs (like labs), will spend about 2 hours every day in the large open pen outside, more or less depending on the number of dogs at the shelter. We get about 5 adoption dogs and 5 pound dogs. The pound dogs are caged in an isolaion area, until they have a full vet check and evaluation. The cats have their individual girls and boys community rooms, where the fixed and friendly cats are allowed to roam and socialize. The non-friendly cats are caged, and the unfixed cats are caged until they are fixed. There is an outdoor screened area where cats are taken out to lounge in the sun. The small animals are caged in the main lobby. Reptiles are sent to a reptile sanctuary an rescue organization. The non-checked cats are caged in an isolaion area, until they have a full vet check and evaluation. We have wooded trails and an animal cemetary. Each animal has a cage card with detailed descriptions of the age and breed, evaluation results, the animal's history, and it's likes/dislikes and personalities. BTW, here's their website... 17. Luka's definitely not a border collie mix. Although we can't be sure of it, I think that a lab/pointer mix is pretty accurate. Thanks for the warning though. I'll ask his vet. That's the thing with mixes... you never know what's in them, especially a shelter rescue. Just to be safe, does anyone else think he looks like a BC? Or can anybody predict what he is?
18. BTW, there was another post about Heartworm here on Dogo, WAY befoer I joined. Here's the link to it. http://forum.dogomania.com/viewtopic.php?t=1077&highlight=toxic
19. We own a small wooded area, with a pond and lots of puddles in the woods, so we have a ton of mosquitoes. We use Heartgard Plus with Luka. He's 58 lbs. I've never heard of the shot, but I'm sure that if it was a good idea, his vet would have talked to us about it. I've actually never heard about it 'til now.

21. I am soooo lost and confused. Okay, so I've established that Kitty Lover's a troll, but what's her point? Why is she here? What's she got against dogs? What does she have against us? Why is she so immature? Why does she smell? Why is she uneducated? Why is she so negative? Why, why, why!?!? She's posted weird stuff before this one? And how come she can't type English? Why are her sentences so confusing and don't make sense? She doesn't use any punctuation marks. And how come she doesn't know the differece beween "there" and "their"???????
22. http://www.api4animals.org/doc.asp?ID=1071#summary Look at how BARE MINIMUM these laws are! Rgggg! :x But still, good to know. This way, I can put the pet shop out of business if I find anything against these laws. Heeheehee ( laugh)
23. Is it just me, or is the Planets Funniet Animals host really annoying? I'd enjoy the show even more, if it was a different host.
24. Wow! You put all that info on one tag? How big is the tag? I could barely fit his name, address, and number on one...
25. A long time ago, before she died, I taped my hamster (I adopted her with two paralyzed hind legs) wiggling her but to clim up her cage. It was sooo funny cuz she wiggled on beat, like right, left, right, left... But now I can't find which tape it's in :( . I would send Luka in if he did anything funny, but he's a very serious dog... Can't you just send a tape in to their address, not the internet?
