1. Thank you all for your warm wishes :D ....I am going to call over to the vets to check on her in about an hour...she should be thru her surgery......still keeping my fingers crossed on the biopsy results :-? Sixstar...I understand completely where you are coming from...however in this case it couldn't be avoided. I probably should have clarified ....she is only due for her Bordatella vaccine today...she apparently received all her other boosters in March... I'll post an update later !
2. Just what I love....an open invitation to gush about my "kids" ! I have two Boxers....both rescues. Loki is my big "mama's boy"....he thinks he was put here to keep my feet warm while I watch tv...and I don't mind one bit! I grew up with Boxers....have always wanted one of my own, so when I stumbled across the Florida Boxer Rescue site( http://www.flbr.org ), I didn't hesitate to send in an application.. We fell in love with Loki the second we saw him on the site..we jumped in the car as soon as we could make arrangements and drove the 5 hr roundtrip to get him. He had been picked up as a stray, wondering the streets...no tags....no chip. no one came to claim him at Animal Services and thankfully they contacted Boxer Rescue, who promptly picked him up and settled him in a foster home. He has been with us for 2 years, and I don't know how we lived without him... Our new rescue baby is "Lyra"....also adopted thru Florida Boxer Rescue....we thought Loki needed a little sister  She was abandoned by her previous owner when she ran away from home.....she was "too much hassle" and they didn't want to bail her out of the shelter. Once again the angels at Boxer rescue came thru, and the rest is (very recent) history. We have only had her for 2 days and she has already wormed her way into our hearts....she is such a cutie! and Loki just ADORES her... There's just something about rescue dogs....they seem to love you just that much more because you gave them a second chance... :fadein:
3. Tomorrow morning, Lyra has her vet appt at 7 am to have her spay and vaccinations...they also will be performing a biopsy on a lump she has on her head (she actually has 3 of them...varying in size). I'm very worried that these will turn out to be something serious, although I am trying to remain optimistic. Apparently her previous owner claims she has "had them for a long time" (keep in mind she is only 15 months old) and this idiot didn't get her checked out by a vet???? Anyhow, please keep Lyra in your thoughts tomorrow...I'll let you all know how it went tomorrow night...I have a consultation with the vet when I pick her up at 5 pm *fingers crossed*
4. Doggie Yoga
5. Thanks everyone :D Cairn, she is 14 months old, and all the rescue knew was that she was picked up as a stray by animal services, and when her owner was contacted they said she had run away before and they no longer wanted the "hassle" I honestly do NOT know why some people have pets    So I can only imagine what her home life was like...
6.
she's VERY pretty, but she looks kinda, well, grumpy....I guess I'm used to the famous smile from this breed. Hope to see pics with that Cheshire smile once she settles in!!
 ...I know exactly what you mean, courtnek ! I think once she settles in and realizes this isn't another "temporary home" we'll see more of that famous Boxer smile. She is getting along with everyone so far, and is very lovey....but she seems almost afraid to let her guard down...and she won't let me out of her sight. I don't know a whole lot about her history or how she was treated prior to FLBR taking custody of her....but I'm hoping whatever demons are chasing her will soon be forgotten...
7. She's finally here!...We got our rescue girl today....and as long as her vet checkup goes well on Tuesday, she is all ours!!! FLBR dropped her off with us this morning for a trial period....to see how she and Loki adjust to each other...but judging by the way they're all piled up on the floor together sleeping, I don't think she's going anywhere.. We've named her Lyra (after the harp constellation) Loki and Lyra Lyra making herself at home... ok...I'm hooked...just look at that face!
8. Great pics!...I just LOVE the smiley brindle Amstaff
9.

Look at those horrible faces! That's the cutest thing I've ever seen! He looks completely tormented. :o
LOL, here's a few more that I uploaded just for you
LOL....too cute!.....but is he ever right side up? :o
10. Boxers of course.....but I'd have to say, if I couldn't have a Boxer...(or 2...or 10), Bullmastiffs or APBTs would be my next choice
11.
Munkee does it also but he does it as a way to calm himself down. He gets SOOO excited when he sees his mommie (now if I can only find a MAN like that  ). I almost ALWAYS have a 20 oz. diet coke bottle in my hand & there have been times where I forgot to bring him an empty one & he has grabbed the full one out of my hands, punched a hole in it & ran through the house spraying the walls with diet coke. Good thing he's soo cute. Debby
Thank goodness!...another dog with a soda bottle fetish....I thought mine was the only crazy one. I can't sit a bottle down anywhere within reach of Loki...he grabs it and runs......and if I'm sitting on the couch, drinking a soda....well he sits there and begs, totally FIXATED on that bottle as if I was eating a t bone steak in front of him...
12. while we're on the subject, I might as well throw MY boy into the mix......can't just pass over a brindle thread without taking the opportunity to brag  Loki
13.
Admires has completed a three-year study of this breed during which time we have been able to observe the personality of the Analabs from birth to adulthood, to determine any aggressiveness in the animals and how they relate to other household pets, stock animals, and humans of all ages

The combination of registered, well-bred Labrador Retrievers and Anatolian Shepherds (Mountain Breed) has produced a good-looking, affectionate dog with the trainability of the Lab and the guardianship qualities of the Anatolian Shepherd.
WOW....a whole THREE YEAR study huh?.....hardly one generation of dogs and they've developed a perfectly stable companion "breed"
14. Aroura!....great to see you!....and congratulations on the puppy-to-be (a whippet is it?) I can't wait to see pics :D Not to dredge up sad memories, but I was so so sorry to hear about Lily :( ...but you can rest assured, you did the right thing by her. Best of luck with your new baby...and I agree with both Kat and guest...better not to take risks....keep him in a safe environment, free of strange dogs until you're sure he's protected...
15.
How is Loki? Have you got any updated pictures of him? :D Kobi is in my bad books at the moment, she just ate my brand new Peace Lily (My 3rd replacement - she ate the others as well  ) She's currently lying down by my feet with a smug grin on her face :x Thank god the other one is much more well behaved  Good to hear from you anyway :D
 ...well at least Kobi has good taste... and yes, I posted a recent pic of my 2 little demons(and I mean that in the most affectionate way  ) in this thread: http://forum.dogomania.com/viewtopic.php?t=13516
16.
and I have to admit that I can no longer roll my eyes at people that mistake Danny for a Boxer. He does look like that one a little :o
LOL.....he is one handsome guy!.....but yeah, he does kinda have a big goofy Boxer smile  what a great pic!
17. Kiwi...hey! Yeah its been awhile....I'm doing great :D love your new addition, by the way!.....she is soooo cute!...oh and Kobi is gorgeous as always...I just adore BT faces
18. Thank you all....I can't wait to bring her home! I'll keep you all updated and I'll post some pics of her with big brother Loki as soon as I can :D
19. Eeeeeek!...I'm so excited!!! Boxer rescue just contacted me....they've found us a dog...a little flashy fawn girl...14 months old. We get to go see her this weekend...here are the pics they sent.. Isn't she a cutie? :D apparently she's an owner surrender...they said she was "too much hassle"  oh well....their loss is my gain!
20. what beautiful babies!!! Aaaaargh!...you're making it very difficult for me to not run out and adopt a Pittie :o Hmmm...think I'll run outside to measure my yard....how many Bullies and Smoosh-faces do you think I can fit per square foot? :D
21. Sash!....I'm great :D ....busy as hell, but great nontheless....we just moved into a new house in April. Has a huge backyard, so we're expanding our "fur" family (have another rescue Boxer on the way)...and maybe even a Pittie sometime down the road  I know, ive been totally delinquent when it comes to keeping in touch...and look...now I've just gone and hijacked this thread  anyhow, its good to see you all again!...any news from your family??? how are the girls?...Felony has gotten so BIG :o
22. :o ....I haven't logged in here in months, and this was the first post I read....I agree, that article should be posted in every paper and on the door of every shelter......people should be forced to read it before they just "dump" their "disposable" dogs and cats off at the local shelter. This really hits home.....I was just at the Animal Services shelter on Saturday picking up Loki's new registration tags. I cry when I think he could have been in that situation...he was a rescue, but on an up note, we are currently in the process of adopting another!
23. I don't know if the same applies to Pits...but in Boxers,Brindle dogs are still considered fawn...Brindle is a marking of black stripes over the basecoat rather than a color in itself,so I would assume that (in Goo,for example) the red would be her actual color . Going back to Boxers again...if the dog has heavy brindle striping(to the point where he appears or ALMOST appears black), the dog is called a reverse brindle, but his basecoat is still considered fawn..... I'm sure Hobbit can better explain why this is ,because I don't have a clue about genetics and the brindling gene
24. I have been lucky so far...I haven't lost a pet. A few years back my sister lost one of her Boxers though....we looked everywhere...went door to door..posted flyers...talked to vets and shelters....no luck.We were sure she was gone forever. Then one day about 4 months later a strange car pulled into our driveway and out jumped Lacey! It turns out they had picked her up on the side of the highway 3 and a half months earlier and assumed (since she was so thin and dirty from being on the streets) that she was either neglected or abandoned ...so they kept her. They brought her back because they just happened to see one of our flyers STILL posted at a local petstore and said they felt guilty about keeping her because on the flyer there was a pic of her cuddling with my sister's little girls (and looking very healthy and happy). They said they still weren't sure whether to return her or not,but decided to drive by the house and see what her "living conditions" were like.Of course as soon as they pulled in the yard and saw all the other dogs and how well cared for they were they stopped the car and let her out....to their credit they had taken immaculate care of her and it was obvious they had become very attached.I know it was hard for them to give her back after so long, but at least they did the right thing (they even refused to accept the reward!). I guess what I'm trying to say is that you should never give up hope or stop trying to find a lost pet....if that couple hadn't spotted our flyer and realized from the pic how loved and missed Lacey really was ,my sister probably NEVER would've gotten her back. I'd go insane with worry if one of my babies went missing! Loki is never outside without me (since we live in an apartment) and always wears his tags when we are out...but I am also going to go ahead and get him microchipped (especially after reading THIS thread). India (my Macaw) is microchipped, but I am also considering getting a DNA profile done on her as well because bird theft is very common here ,and she sleeps outside in the lanai :-?
25. K that is the sweetest pic!. I couldn't imagine my son growing up without a dog to snuggle and play with....My little guy and Loki are practically inseparable :D Oh BK!...its Saturday!!! are you all set for the big meeting tomorrow?? :D
