Its just 10 mins east of London. Small town of 4000 people, so its really nice.... we like it alot here, however Florida sounds much nicer.... :D
Yes...been to Dorchester many times....great little town. my husband's grandparents lived there for 30 yrs....they passed away a cpl yrs ago, and the family sold the house (it's on Thompson road...corner lot...right in front of the ministry of transportation)...you've probably driven past it many times... -

I second the "no pull harness" recommendation ! I just picked one up for Lyra on Friday and it works like a charm.......she'll choke herself til her eyes bug out with a choke collar, but the harness stopped her pulling immediately....makes for a much more enjoyable walk :-? ......she's only 43 lbs, but I think she was a sled dog in a former life  I used to use a Gentle Leader or Halti on Loki to stop his pulling....that worked well too......but like everyone else I got tired of the "muzzle" comments and looks of terror from the general public everytime I walked him.......

I found this on a Boxer board that I go to....made me cry and darn it I HATE to cry alone so.... A MESSAGE FROM MAX: My name is Max and I have a little something I'd like to whisper in your ear. I know that you humans lead busy lives. Some have to work, some have children to raise. It always seems like you are running here and there, often much too fast, often never noticing the truly grand things in life. Look down at me now, while you sit there at your computer. See the way my dark brown eyes look at yours? They are slightly cloudy now, that comes with age. The gray hairs are beginning to ring my soft muzzle. You smile at me; I see love in your eyes. What do you see in mine? Do you see a spirit, a soul inside who loves you as no other could in the world? A spirit that would forgive all trespasses of prior wrong doing for just a simple moment of your time? That is all I ask. To slow down if even for a few minutes to be with me. So many times you have been saddened by the words you read on that screen, of others of my kind, passing. Sometimes we die young and oh so quickly, sometimes so suddenly it wrenches your heart out of your throat. Sometimes we age so slowly before your eyes that you do not even seem to know, until the very end, when we look at you with grizzled muzzles and clouded eyes. Still the love is always there, even when we take that long sleep, to run free in distant lands. I may not be here tomorrow; I may not be here next week. Someday you will shed the waters from your eyes, that humans have when deep grief fills their souls, and you will be angry at yourself that you did not have just "One more day" with me. Because I love you so, your sorrow touches my spirit and grieves me. We have now, together. So come, sit down here next to me on the floor. And look deep into my eyes. What do you see? If you look hard and deep enough we will talk, you and I, heart to heart. Come to me not as "alpha" or as a "trainer" or even a "Mom or Dad", come to me as a living soul and stroke my fur and let us look deep into one another's eyes, and talk. I may tell you something about the fun of chasing a tennis ball, or I may tell you something profound about myself, or even life in general. You decided to have me in your life (I hope) because you wanted a soul to share just such things with. Someone very different from you, and here I am. I am a dog, but I am alive. I feel emotion, I feel physical senses, and I can revel in the differences of our spirits and souls. I do not think of you as a "Dog on two feet" -- I know what you are. You are human, in all your quirkiness, and I love you still. Now, come sit with me, on the floor. Enter my world, and let time slow down if even for only 15 minutes. Look deep in my eyes, and whisper to my ears. Speak with your heart, with your joy and I will know your true self. We may not have tomorrow, and life is oh so very short. Love, Max (on behalf of all canines everywhere) "May be reposted and shared freely as long as this credit appears with the post given to J.D. Ellis 2001" Now...everyone go hug your babies!!!
I've had entirely tooooooo many dog "experts" tell me that Poodles just don't get that big.
 ahhhh...but ya know, HF....said "experts" got that nifty little snippet of utter brilliance from the same handbook as they got: "ALL PitBulls will eat your children" "Boxers don't come in brindle" and "it is not "macho" for a man to have his dog neutered"

GREAT news!!! :D

How much to breed him to my girl (Insert breed it really doesn't matter)
I get that too!! They don't seem to notice Munkee's missing "hang down" Debby
yup...I get that one too  .....I had some woman accost me in the PetSmart parking lot once. She pulled into the parking space next to me,practically LEAPED out of her car yelling "please tell me that dog isn't fixed" When I informed her that yes, he was altered as a matter of fact....hence the missing ...err...parts. She got ALL unhappy and said she was really hoping she could breed her girl Boxer to him when she came into her next heat :o ....I looked at the Boxer in the back seat of her car...turns out she's only 6 months old!...Its funny how quickly people drive away when youstart lecturing them about responsible pet ownership  I also get : "wanna fight your PIT?" (keep in mind...I have BOXERS) "he must have been chasin' parked cars" and my personal favorite : "you really should feed that BULLDOG more...he's way too skinny"

I don't know a whole lot about them, but I did see them on tv in a dogshow once....cute little things. It seems they are recognized by the UKC, ARBA, CKC and NKC :niewiem:

Hmmmm...Loki is "loki-Bear"......."Ox"......"BigPig"....among various other silly names like "LokiDoki", "smooshie bear", "BigDumbDawg", "Donut" (because he literally folds himself in half when he wags his stub)....and the list goes on Lyra hasn't been around long enough to pick up too many nics yet.....so far she gets "Leera-Deera", "babygirl","Punkin-Pie" and "Miss Lyra" My Macaw, "India" gets called "buzzsaw", "Indy", "Miss Wings". and (during her daily screaming fits) various expletives that I can't mention for fear K will ban me out of pure shock

Ahhh yes...the Wizard of Claws....Millers and Scammers and Crooks!...oh my!! Its about time they were exposed for the money hungry, puppy mill supporters they really are. Its disgusting how they dress up those poor sickly little puppies in cute little outfits and then charge people RIDICULOUS prices for these inbred, genetically stunted "teacup" dogs :x .....oh and I just LooooOOOOoooove when they peddle white Boxers and Albino Dobes as special "rare" breeds....well no shit sherlock(excuse my language  )....they SHOULD be rare....they shouldn't be BRED in the first place  Ok...rant over...I hope they're shut down for good
-
Better hurry with those piccies Roo ! .....we are all poised....staring at our monitors, clicking the refresh button in anticipation...(well...except for K...she's still rocking and mumbling unintelligibly in the corner) ...oh I just loooOOOoooove smushy faced puppies!!!! :D

I'm not so lucky....heartworm is rampant here in Florida....so as much as I hate it, my kids are on Interceptor...it is required by the rescue where I adopted them. They get SO many dogs in that are heartworm positive :(

It seems to me I read somewhere that Dobies were on the "hitlist" at Allstate too....hmmm...or maybe it was State Farm....

ok...so here's the update on Lyra...I just got her home and got her settled in her crate..poor little thing is so woozy. Everything went well.....the lumps on her head turned out to be nothing more than a very neglected skin infection (whew!....yes I am very relieved)...so she is on antibiotics to clear it up. Other than that she is one very healthy little girl ! (and of course by the time I picked her up she had charmed the pants off all the vet techs  ) I am just sooo happy my girl is home ! :D
