Good question! (where is Hobbit when we need him??? )As far as I know (and I don't claim to know a whole lot about color genetics) the piebald gene is what causes extreme white markings on Boxers.....ie all-white Boxers and Checks : " White " This is NOT an albino. A white Boxer is all white or they may even have patches of fawn or brindle of one or more places; ears, around eyes, top of head, on the back or even the base of the tail, but rarely on the side of the body and no more than 1/3 (which is fairly much). The color is called extreme piebald spotting. The genetics is sw sw. This color is the only permitted color in breeds such as Sealyham Terriers and Great Pyrenees and is a common color in English Setters. The white Boxer does not have the typical black mask. " Check " This is a term for a brindle or fawn dog with approximently 1/3 - 2/3 white. The white will be on the same places as on a flashy Boxer, but to a greater extent. They may have white on the thighs going all the way across the back, or white collar that goes over on the shoulders and back or across the forehead to meet the white on the face. It may even be that the colored patch on the back resembles a saddle with white all around it. This color is called piebald spotting and is found in other breeds such as Saint Bernard and Beagle. The genetics is sp sp or si sw. The si gene may have been found in historical Boxers, but is probably extinct now. If there were born several check Boxers from one sire or dam, this could be an indication of its existence however. the above info is courtesy of: http://amysboxers.8m.com/about.html Hope this sheds a LITTLE light.... :D

He actually posted a shortstory about a guy who attends a dogfight.......

OK I went back and looked at the gallery :x This is sick! Apparently Ivy is deceased...it says she "strangled herself with her chain" Hottie is on a chain that looks like it weighs more than she does (she's only 5 months old!!) Atlas is as skinny as Sadie Clyde is dead Where did you find this site Deep??? I can't believe this guy is PROUD of the condition his dogs are in!!

Poor Fella!! :( I too have a gang of delinquent boys in my neighborhood......lucky for me they seem to think that Loki is a vicious man eater  For once I am not offended by that, since they steer way clear of myself and my property......and in my free time I stand Loki in front of a mirror and make him practice his  look, without breaking into a Boxer grin
Smoosh, I didnt realize you posted this site, http://www.oldebulldogge.com/con-frame.htm just a moment ago in "I cant contain myself" I posted it after doing a search on the Leavitt line, sorry I gave you no credit, I'll go back an give you props where it is do  what do you know about these guys? did you just find them one day on the net or do you have personal exp with one?
 ..no worries...your websearch is as good as mine,so no credit required  As for the breed ,you know about as much as I do (I've posted all the info I've found). Next to Boxers, Bulldogs are my favorite type of dog,and I found an article on these oversized guys in Dogs U.S.A. I have never seen one in person and frankly never knew they even existed, but the idea of a larger version of the English Bulldog (allegedly with fewer health concerns) definately peaked my interest. I love all dogs but have a soft spot for the large breeds (especially bullies). :D -
Thats ok,Jacsmom....I sought the help of a therapist after reading Deep's warlord-like post in"the Harem" (you know...the one with all the cute little homocidal emoticons???) :o .....maybe he'll give us a group rate

Ok...I did some more reading and this is what I found out (if anyone knows about this stuff please correct me if I'm misinformed...) From what I gather there are two seperate lines of Olde Bulldogges......the LEAVITT line, and the HERMES line....with the latter being EXTRA large and bulky......soooo Deep, my guess is that if you do a search on "Hermes Bulldogge",or "Hermes Olde Bulldogge" you may find what you're looking for....more websites with double-wide dawgs  -
I was just flipping thru the 2002 "Dogs U.S.A"annual and there's a breeder ad in the listings that has a pic of an APBT that size :o
yeah, those are great looking dogs! thanx :D I thought about a bullboxer, I guess I still am I just get so distracted by the ABs I just love their look! oh well, I really need is a Neo/AB/Boxer now THAT would be something to see wouldnt it
LOL Deep....you really ARE starting to sound like Dr Frankenstein :o While I was hunting around Bulldog sites last night I found a site about Olde English Bulldogges... http://www.hermesoldebulldogge.com I had heard the name before but I just assumed they were the same thing as the English/British Bulldog....boy was I wrong...they LOOK like the English Bulldog, they're just 3 times the size. :o Apparently from what I read, they are the "re-creation of the 18th century Bulldogge" Beautiful dogs (in a Bully sorta way  )...ohhhh if I only had the money.....and a larger condo....AND a huge supply of drool towels..........oh yeah, and a MUCH more tolerant husband... -

I know...I was surprised when I read the breed standard that they are available in so many colors!...the ones I've seen have also been primarily white. I was always partial to fawn Boxers with black masks too...and then I ended up with a dark brindle(go figure?) ....and now I really want a reverse Brindle female. I guess I'm just a sucker for smush faces in general :D ...and you're right about the Boxer personality.....,they are the consummate clowns/cuddlebugs/defenders...and their facial expressions are priceless! Hmmmm.....You want a massive dog with a Boxer face and personality huh? Well a Boxer/AB cross or a Bullboxer might be the way to go then....or hey! Have you ever considered a Bullmastiff??? Similar look, but I'm not sure about their personality traits.......or you could just become a Mad Scientist and genetically engineer your own dog.... 8) -

Smooshie replied to deepseasnake's topic in Everything about dogs
I really want a boxer/AB because I really dont like the color of the ABs
Actually ABs come in a wider variety of accepted colors than Boxers, according to the breed standard : AMERICAN BULLDOG Color: Solid or varying degrees of white, all shades of brindle, brown, red, or tan are acceptable. Solid black, black and tan, and/or any degree of merle is unacceptable. A full black mask is not preferred. **Merle is a dilution of overall body color (black or red) with splotches of darker color giving the effect of "merling" or "marbling" not to be confused with Brindle that gives the effect of "striping". -
  Good for her! I bet she turns heads though 8) I have this mental image of the Bugs Bunny cartoons with Granny and Spike the Bulldog.... Come to think of it I saw a Biker with a teacup Yorkie once....he even had a bow in his hair (err...the DOG not the Biker  ).......had the same effect

Looks like a legitimate rescue organization......they seem to have strict adoption policies, and you're right...the dogs are beautiful. The nice thing about breed rescues is that they usually fully vet, spay/neuter,temperament test and socialize the dog before it is placed for adoption(all included in the adoption fee) and since rescues are normally made up of volunteers who do it only out of love for the dogs, they screen the applicants very well before placement. My boxer is from rescue and I would not hesitate to adopt from them again. He is amazing. This is the pic that Boxer rescue had of him posted on their website... We fell in love with him and drove 6 hrs round trip the next day to pick him up......of course he's gained about 15 lbs of muscle since THAT pic was taken. This is a more recent pic:
