Horsefeathers!
Isn't wheat a common allergen and not something you really want to see large amounts of in dog food?
JackieMaya
A friend of mine had Afghans that were allergic to wheat and had to get them wheat-free dog food.
DogPaddle
Wheat isn't a stellar dog food ingredient no, better than corn though. There are lots of good dog foods that use rice or potatoes for their carbs instead of wheat due to nutrition/digestion/allergies.
TDG
unless a dog is specifically allergic to wheat, it's no worse than corn, barley, rice, or any other grains commonly included in dog food formulations.
Horsefeathers!
I'd forgotten I even posted this question. I think I may not have asked it right. What I'm wondering is if it's a more common allergen than, say, rice or oatmeal. I understand about wheat not necessarily being a bad thing unless a dog is particularly allergic to it, but for some reason, I have this notion (from who knows where) that wheat is a common allergen. Does it make sense what I'm trying to ask?
